Jacques Torres Chocolate was a pretty roomy shop, with product displays, ice cream in a cabinet, cases of truffles, and seating. Possibly a restroom too but I'm not quite sure. The woman behind the counter was cheerful and bubbly. She informed me about the current promotion: if the Knicks win, the next day, you can get a free cookie of your choice with any purchase. Sweet! I ended up buying two espresso truffles or bonbons (about $6 total) which were scrumptious, and the chocolate cookie was truly exceptional. No wonder it's famous. The store is very big and has some seating as well. The chocolate is definitely on the fancier expensive side but great for gifts. They had lots of pre-packaged sets but you can also create your own box. Lots of NYC themed packaging as well. We loved all the different flavors. The dark chocolate was intense and smooth without being too bitter. Hard to believe it was 80%! One note: Gift cards purchased online cannot be used in the store! Delicious, generally well packaged and delivered. I am in NYC and like to shop local, thus Jacques Torres is a go-to, mostly via mail order. The NYC box is perfect for out of towners or as gifts for those in other cities. Do not order in the summer. I have ordered from Jacques Torres (aka Mr. Chocolate) many times: winter holidays, birthdays etc. During the cooler months everything is perfect. When it is hot, forget it. I ordered directly from the website thinking the packaging would be appropiate for the weather: nope, all melted. This was for a gift for a work colleague in Chicago. I asked her how the package arrived and she said great, I asked her if anything was melted bc it was hot that day in mid-June 2025. She said "a little". She sent me a photo of the New York City box: not good. I then ordered the same thing via GoldBelly and had a similar experience. I recommend not offering delivery in summer as some high end chocolate companies do. Goldbelly gave me a coupon for 30% off my next order, Jacques Torres refunded the full amount. read more

First timers and we stumbled upon it literally 5min till close. Ran in to see what was available the lady was so kind I wish I had asked her name. Stopped in for a hot chocolate and boy was it thiccc. Steamed with an espresso wand, it was a while before it was cool enough to drink. There was a warning/suggestion to ask for additional milk to cool it down so maybe I'd do that to help with the heat and the consistency next time. Overall you could tell that it's a good quality chocolate by the richness and not too sweet of a milk chocolate, although there is also a dark chocolate version I'd want to try. Definitely come here. The gentleman that was working was super nice and very patient. My friend and I sampled every ice cream flavor and he did not rush us at all. We each ordered a small hot chocolate and that was so rich. I don't think we could've finished a large cup of hot chocolate just because of how decadent it was. They even had spiced hot chocolate or hot chocolate with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. We will definitely be back again to try those drinks out if we're visiting during the holiday season. If you're looking for hot chocolate that is decadent but not too sweet, this is the place!! I got to try their Wicked and Classic hot chocolates and loved them both! The classic one was very rich with strong cocoa flavors. Loved how it wasn't sweet like other NYC hot chocolates. The consistency was just right. Not too watery but not too thick. Yiu can opt to get free cream which was very fresh. The Wicked chocolate features ancho and chipotle chilies. As an oxacan chocolate lover, I though I'd like this more but the chilies were slightly more bitter than expected. Nevertheless they brought a nice little spice and smokey kick to the delicious hot chocolate. Also got a chocolate chip cookie dipped in chocolate to go. There was generous amount of chocolate chunks and it wasn't too sweet. The cookie itself was chewy and on the drier side. Edges were crispy and the dipped chocolate at the back was also yummy as a nice addition. Service was quick and the store itself is pretty spacious, although not that many tables were available for customers. They also have lots of other goodies and ice cream.
