Sorry no pixs. We had an awesome birthday lunch here. Service was a little spotty but place was super busy. We had: 1 dry brased green beans - 5+/5. Perfectly cooked with plenty of garlic 2 pork steamed broccoli- 3.5/5. Tasty but if you expertly char sui bad this is not that. Filling is closer to a pork meat ball and the dough was chewy not.the pillowy dough. Tasty tho 3 pork soup dumpling - 5/5. Yummy without of 'soup' 4 chicken dumplings - 5/5 tender and tasty 5 onion cake - 5/5 plenty of scallions and super flakes 6 sui mai - 4/5 Tasty and all shrimp 7 sesame balls. 5/5. Yummy deserts bite perfectly fried and the red bean paste the right amount of sweet. While you are there (especially if you have to wait.to be seated) walk to inside of building and watch them making the wrappers and stuffing the dumplings. They are fast and skilled. read more

We were pretty disappointed with our experience here. The portions were much smaller than what you typically get at most Chinese restaurants, especially considering the price. We ordered the steamed chicken bao, and they were mostly dough with very little chicken inside. They also had corn in the filling, which wasn't mentioned on the menu. I'm not sure if that's traditional, but it wasn't what we expected. The orange chicken tasted okay, but it didn't come with any rice. We had to order a separate vegetable fried rice, which was also a much smaller portion than we're used to at most Chinese restaurants. The spicy and sour beef noodle soup had tender beef and a flavorful broth, but overall the meal didn't feel like a good value. Between the small portions, having to pay extra for rice, and the underfilled bao, we left disappointed. The server disappeared for a while and the first thing he brought out was the fried rice alone. The place was nice and you have to go to the outdoor area for the bathroom. Unfortunately, this wasn't our favorite Chinese restaurant and we probably won't be back. read more

The reviews for this place are very good. We met friends there for lunch to see for ourselves. Soup does not come with your order, so my husband ordered the egg flower soup, I ordered the hot and sour. It was $5 extra for each. My husband said his soup was very oily, probably sesame oil. My hot and sour soup was not spectacular, certainly not in the top 5 in my experience. We ordered the Dan Dan noodles, Housemade dumplings and the shrimp walnut dish with broccoli. There was more than enough food for both of us and we took home a lot of each. I had not had the Dan Dan noodles before, it was basically spaghetti noodles with well cooked hamburger and Asian seasonings. Not bad. The dumplings had no dipping sauce, we made our own from the vinegar and soy sauce provided at the table. There were 10 dumplings, we brought home more than half. While the shrimp and walnut dish was good, the broccoli fresh and perfectly steamed, I've had better. The sauce that goes on them was served on the side. I'm guessing because that way when you take it home, it doesn't make everything mushy when reheating. The service was excellent, the food came quickly and was hot. Probably the most expensive Asian lunch we've ever had, $55 not including tip. Instead of paying for street parking, we parked in the Parkade behind the building. Did not appreciate the smoky pot filled elevator that greeted us when the delinquents stepped out. But that has nothing to do with Jade Dumpling. Though the food was good, there was nothing there I craved bad enough to warrant another go. I hope they do well, downtown Salem is a hard sell these days with Oregons economy and downtown homelessness. read more

Stopped in at Jade Dumpling while visiting Salem. I walked in to a small restaurant with lots of people. I felt like I was in a crowded box. Not once in 10 minutes did anyone greet me or ask me if I needed help. The service was poor. I finally stopped someone and asked where I could pick my order up at. He told me to go to the kitchen area. An older man spoke in another language to another guy and then the other guy asked me what I needed. I said I had a pickup order. It was pretty much ready on time. I walked back to the hotel and started with the Kung Pao Tofu. I've never had it before. I didn't know what to expect, but it was absolutely delicious!! Flavorful, a little spice....I can't say enough good things. I also ordered the Meat Lover's Fried Rice. It's okay. Much less flavorful than the Kung Pao Tofu. I'd definitely go back for the Kung Pao Tofu, if only their service was better and friendlier. read more

The food was awesome! I'm so excited to get some authentic chinese sichuan food in Salem! They have fresh hand-made dumplings and my kids had a nice time watching them through the window while we waited for our food. Everything is so good, but my favorite dishes are the more traditional dishes like zhajiang noodle and pickled vegetable fish. Place is clean and nicely decorated. Looking for food while on vacation and after a hike and the food in the area seemed to look similar as the basics American food so I was happy to find this dumpling spot ! It seems to be like a food court type of building as there was lots of other food businesses right next to it . Found parking right in the front , we got in and checked ourselves on their iPad , there was already people waiting and restaurants was busy.. I'm about 15 minutes out table was ready . We ordered beef fried noodles , beef dumplings and drinks ... honestly that was enough food and it was SOO GOOD ! We actually came back here a second time ! Fitting for it being in the name, the dumplings here are some of the best we've ever had. Specifically, the pork wontons in spicy sauce were so flavor packed, that even with their very generous portions, we were left wanting more. The Sichuan Steam Buns had an excellent texture, but tasted more of beef than pork which we found interesting. To complete our order we got a classic, General Tso's Chicken, and to no surprise it tasted like any General Tso's we've had in the past, nothing mind blowing, but tasty all the same. Overall we would love to try more items from their menu, but would likely come back to eat in person vs getting takeout as the presentation of the food we saw on peoples tables looked immaculate. read more

heard about this place online and wanted to check it out! we arrived at about 6:00 PM on a Friday night, and had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. Wasn't too long of a wait at all given the size of the restaurant and the looks of how busy it was! our waiter took a minute to come take our order, but after that our food arrived one at a time quickly. this is when the overall service took a turn for the worst. we never got a refill on our drinks as once no one came by after our food was brought out to us. Additionally, we ordered two dishes that had broth and no spoons aside from the serving ladles were provided. Unfortunately we were seated in the corner of the restaurant by the front window so it was rare that staff walked by so we couldn't really get their attention. After we finished eating, we waited about 20 minutes until someone came over to get some boxes for our leftovers, and then another 10 minutes to get our check. Then it was taking so long to get them to collect our payment we eventually walked it up to the counter to pay. I understand this restaurant was busy that night, but we never were checked on once and were finished eating for 30 minutes until we were finally able to pay and leave. As for the food, we really enjoyed the chicken fried noodles, shrimp wontons in chicken broth, and the mongolian beef. Our boiled fish in spicy sauce dish was much different than expected based on the description provided in the menu, and we were not a fan of this dish. Everything else was good though. Ultimately I don't think we'll be coming back based on our service experience. read more

Newly opened & highly anticipated dim sum options. Salem has been lacking on an option like this. The location is very busy since it's new. The staff are so kind, welcoming and fast. The menu has many tasty offerings. We tried a few things and were very pleased. The restaurant is a smaller space but the seating is oriented in a way where diners can have their own individual experiences. Very cool decor includes some amazing masks. Spices were very heavy. Overall, just "okay." No standouts, nothing to get excited about, kind of typical mediocre Chinese food. I doubt I would go back, not just because the food was mediocre but because you gotta pay for parking ($1.50 minimum 1 hour, even if you are only there for 20 min) and this sucks, but also the "Beep Beep Salem" app never works for me. It's all too much of a hassle for a $69.50 mediocre take out meal. read more

I've been so excited for this place to open and it did not disappoint! I've gone back 4 times since trying it, getting different items every time and I've been satisfied every time. Their dumplings are delicious, the noodles are exceptionally good and the portions are great. For two people we usually get 2-3 dishes and it's plenty but they make great leftovers so I wouldn't hesitate to over order and plan to take some home. Everything was great! Served fairly quickly, dandan was priced well and it had a lot of sauce which is nice! I always have super dry no sauce dandan in Oregon so I was pleasantly surprised. Finally some good Chinese food in Salem. Highly recommend the toothpick lamb, shengjian bao, and any of the dry pots. You can even watch them make the dumplings fresh from a window, just like at DTF. The food is served family style (so if you're each getting an "entree" for yourself don't be shocked if the food doesn't get all served at once). Definitely of the school of service where they don't hover over your shoulder unless you flag them down, so be comfortable with waving the server down. read more

I haven't tried all the dishes so I'll reserve my full judgement. However, for the Salem area, not bad. The problem is the culinary choices in Asian. Hawaiian or even Japanese restaurants are very, very limited. Coming from Hawaii, the majority of the so called "Hawaiian or Chinese restaurants in Salem would shut down in 6 months for lack of business. In Salem, no one knows what great is because there aren't good or great restaurants. I former Salem restauranter once mentioned that Salem is a coupon town and anyone good enough in the kitchen wouldn't even consider opening a restaurant here. Enough of that. So, in my, opinion if you're looking for good dim sum......travel to H K Cafe on Portland, off of 82nd. All the entrees and the dim sum are fantastic. read more

This is a new restaurant in town and I'm really glad it opened. The food is one of the best and authentic Chinese food I've had in the States. All food is fresh and handmade at this place. This is actually my third visit here and wanted to review long ago, but I was just able to do so they've made it on yelp and google map. I can feel that the service and food are getting better this time comparing to the last two visits. The dining area is immersed with Chinese decor and the ambiance is exceptional. There's also lots of parking right next to the store. It's definitely the best place for Chinese food if you live or are passing by Salem! read more
