    Kung Pao Tofu
    Ja'Nelle S.

Stopped in at Jade Dumpling while visiting Salem. I walked in to a small restaurant with lots of people. I felt like I was in a crowded box. Not once in 10 minutes did anyone greet me or ask me if I needed help. The service was poor. I finally stopped someone and asked where I could pick my order up at. He told me to go to the kitchen area. An older man spoke in another language to another guy and then the other guy asked me what I needed. I said I had a pickup order. It was pretty much ready on time. I walked back to the hotel and started with the Kung Pao Tofu. I've never had it before. I didn't know what to expect, but it was absolutely delicious!! Flavorful, a little spice....I can't say enough good things. I also ordered the Meat Lover's Fried Rice. It's okay. Much less flavorful than the Kung Pao Tofu. I'd definitely go back for the Kung Pao Tofu, if only their service was better and friendlier.

The food was awesome! I'm so excited to get some authentic chinese sichuan food in Salem! They have fresh hand-made dumplings and my kids had a nice time watching them through the window while we waited for our food. Everything is so good, but my favorite dishes are the more traditional dishes like zhajiang noodle and pickled vegetable fish. Place is clean and nicely decorated. There's always a wait to get seated, but once u do, service was quick. It was worth the wait

I'm visiting Salem from California and we tried this spot it was a 10/10 the customer service was amazing everyone was so friendly! The portions were big and the prices were really good as well I loved their noodles :)

This is a new restaurant the seating and place is new. The food is average and service is good. The Dan Dan noodles were abit dry but average for Chinese food

First off the place is very clean and service is very good. The food was ok. I ordered beef noodle soup it wasnt my favorite. The spare ribs was actually good, sesame balls was great and shumai was very good too. Want my favorite but wasnt bad. Hard to find really good dim sum and im on the hunt. I gave it 4 star for the fact that their staff was amazing and the place is very clean and beautiful.

Fitting for it being in the name, the dumplings here are some of the best we've ever had. Specifically, the pork wontons in spicy sauce were so flavor packed, that even with their very generous portions, we were left wanting more. The Sichuan Steam Buns had an excellent texture, but tasted more of beef than pork which we found interesting. To complete our order we got a classic, General Tso's Chicken, and to no surprise it tasted like any General Tso's we've had in the past, nothing mind blowing, but tasty all the same. Overall we would love to try more items from their menu, but would likely come back to eat in person vs getting takeout as the presentation of the food we saw on peoples tables looked immaculate.

heard about this place online and wanted to check it out! we arrived at about 6:00 PM on a Friday night, and had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. Wasn't too long of a wait at all given the size of the restaurant and the looks of how busy it was! our waiter took a minute to come take our order, but after that our food arrived one at a time quickly. this is when the overall service took a turn for the worst. we never got a refill on our drinks as once no one came by after our food was brought out to us. Additionally, we ordered two dishes that had broth and no spoons aside from the serving ladles were provided. Unfortunately we were seated in the corner of the restaurant by the front window so it was rare that staff walked by so we couldn't really get their attention. After we finished eating, we waited about 20 minutes until someone came over to get some boxes for our leftovers, and then another 10 minutes to get our check. Then it was taking so long to get them to collect our payment we eventually walked it up to the counter to pay. I understand this restaurant was busy that night, but we never were checked on once and were finished eating for 30 minutes until we were finally able to pay and leave. As for the food, we really enjoyed the chicken fried noodles, shrimp wontons in chicken broth, and the mongolian beef. Our boiled fish in spicy sauce dish was much different than expected based on the description provided in the menu, and we were not a fan of this dish. Everything else was good though. Ultimately I don't think we'll be coming back based on our service experience.

Newly opened & highly anticipated dim sum options. Salem has been lacking on an option like this. The location is very busy since it's new. The staff are so kind, welcoming and fast. The menu has many tasty offerings. We tried a few things and were very pleased. The restaurant is a smaller space but the seating is oriented in a way where diners can have their own individual experiences. Very cool decor includes some amazing masks. Definitely will return!

The food was excellent and fresh! The decor is soothing and clean; it got crowded at lunch time. We ordered curry Shanghai vermicelli noodles with a slight spiciness; green beans so yummy; fried pork dumplings gyoza; fried pork baos; steamed shrimp dumplings...then you go next door Banzai for matcha latte or Dreamies for ice cream!

Nothing bad, just very underwhelming. Wonderful location with average service. Expectations of high quality food and flavors were not met.

3 out of 5 stars Lucky Garden - Salem, OR…read moreRestaurant reviews always come down to personal taste -- this one just didn't quite match ours. Small dining room with about nine tables, a TV, video lottery room, and moderately comfortable bench seating. Food: * Egg Flower Soup: Mild flavor; decent. * Hot & Sour Soup: Standard flavor, solid base -- improved after adding a couple spoons of chili oil. * Lunch Special ($11 with fried rice): A good value, though not as fresh as what we're used to around Salem. * Crab Puffs: Could use more crunch. * Fried Rice: Plain, no veggies, and on the dry side. * Spring Rolls: Crispy exterior with fresh filling -- a bright spot. * Cashew Chicken: Veggies weren't as fresh as expected. * General Tso's Chicken: Soy-sauce-forward flavor; crunchy breading, large chunks. Just okay overall. Drinks & Atmosphere: Tea is served by the cup (not a pot) -- extremely hot with pink or regular sugar packets. Takes about 20 minutes to cool enough to drink, and comes without a "hot beverage" warning. There's also a faint, odd smell in the dining area that was noticeable during our visit. Overall: Portions are larger than expected for a lunch special, and some locals clearly enjoy this spot. For us, it was average Chinese food -- okay for the price, but below the freshness and flavor we typically find at our favorite Salem restaurants.

We let our waitress know it was our first time here and she made several wonderful suggestions. Starting with the egg flower and hot and sour soups, very flavorful. The inside is very spacious too. Again, with the typical red and gold Chinese dragon décor. I love this sort of place. Makes me feel really comfortable. We were seated at a rather economically sized booth. Me and my birthday girl sister's butts barely fit. Me and my parents traveled from Portland to Salem to take my sister out for her birthday lunch and she highly recommended this place. Per usual, there were scads of choices to behold on the menu. My parents shared some sort of beef vegetable dish. My scallop and vegetable plate was wonderful. Usually places are stingy with their scallops. Not here. I had oodles of scallops. Like more than I knew what to do with. I ended up with a to go container. The whole time we were sitting there I kept eyeing the red door that beckoned Lounge on it. My mind imagined all sorts of scenarios going on behind that red door; all of them seedy. Because that's how my mind works. I couldn't wait until we were all boxed up and ready to go so I could check it out. Imagine my surprise: Nothing but good, clean, wholesome, fun happening in there. There's a pool table, folks were eating. A nice gentleman at the bar and a friendly bartender. My fortune cookie was pretty awesome and probably true too. Bravo, Hong Kong House! 2024 - Review # 10
