3 out of 5 stars Lucky Garden - Salem, OR Restaurant reviews always come down to personal taste -- this one just didn't quite match ours. Small dining room with about nine tables, a TV, video lottery room, and moderately comfortable bench seating. Food: * Egg Flower Soup: Mild flavor; decent. * Hot & Sour Soup: Standard flavor, solid base -- improved after adding a couple spoons of chili oil. * Lunch Special ($11 with fried rice): A good value, though not as fresh as what we're used to around Salem. * Crab Puffs: Could use more crunch. * Fried Rice: Plain, no veggies, and on the dry side. * Spring Rolls: Crispy exterior with fresh filling -- a bright spot. * Cashew Chicken: Veggies weren't as fresh as expected. * General Tso's Chicken: Soy-sauce-forward flavor; crunchy breading, large chunks. Just okay overall. Drinks & Atmosphere: Tea is served by the cup (not a pot) -- extremely hot with pink or regular sugar packets. Takes about 20 minutes to cool enough to drink, and comes without a "hot beverage" warning. There's also a faint, odd smell in the dining area that was noticeable during our visit. Overall: Portions are larger than expected for a lunch special, and some locals clearly enjoy this spot. For us, it was average Chinese food -- okay for the price, but below the freshness and flavor we typically find at our favorite Salem restaurants.

Second time coming here & Food/Service were excellent as usual. Small seat yourself restaurant located in Salem. The Food came out literally 5 minutes after ordering. Service was prompt as well as the portion size. I ordered Mongolian Chicken with added broccoli as pictured

Salt and Crispy Salted Pepper Shrimp. Mmmm... so good!

What a neat place; good is delicious, customer service is fantastic. Give them a try, totally worth your money.

I am not sure what I received, last nights left-overs?? My BBQ Pork was not light and moist, it was dark, dry meat! Sauce enough for 4 pieces, maybe? Their house fried rice was awful, flavorless! Lastly, I was REALLY looking forward to my SESAME CHICKEN, I opened the box and it's NOT MY ORDER. It's gummy meat on top of ramen noodles. I tried it, because frankly I'm starving; and it's rubber, wrapped in a gummy sauce with hardly any flavor at all! I don't know how they got the rating they have, (which is why I chose to order from them.) Not to mention the fact that they tack on $3-$4 on EVERY dish sent out! I just spent $55 on garbage, that I cannot eat. Don't waste your money, especially if you are having it delivered; I promise you that, you will be sorry! No napkins either!

The food seems fresh and has good flavor. Meals no longer come with soup or hot tea. Service is so-so.

The donuts are self-serve with trays and tongs. They had a wide variety available. I selected a original glazed, a pretty in pink (strawberry glazed), a chocolate and a pandan. I also ordered two K-dogs (Korean-style elevated corn dogs), and a classic pearl milk tea with the standard brown sugar boba. My order was ready in less than 10 minutes. My drink was a pretty standard boba drink. Good, but nothing special. The drinks are very customizable, with ice amount and sweetness level just two of the options. The K-dogs were really tasty. I got an Potato Dog (which is a corn dog covered with crispy potato cubes and served with a fry sauce). The other dog I chose was the Gochujang Dog: their standard corn dog with Gochujang sauce. You have the option of having your K-Dog stuffed with mozzarella, a hotdog, or half hotdog and half mozzarella. I did half dog, half mozzarella on both. The cheese made the K-Dogs like huge fried mozzarella sticks. I enjoyed both, they were huge, and I ended up splitting them with a friend. I had both sauces on the side as my order was to go, and both complimented the rich cheese/dogs nicely. The fry sauce was rich and tangy, and the Gochujang a little spicy and a little sweet. The donuts were good too. This was my first time trying mochi donuts. The mochi flour gives the donuts a firmer and denser texture than your standard donut. I love other mochi desserts, but here I missed the lightness and melt-in-your-mouth quality of regular donuts. That is more of a personal preference, but something to be aware of, especially if you are sensitive to textures in food. It seemed like most of the individual flavors of each donut came more from the toppings rather than the donut itself. That isn't unusual with donuts of any kind. The service was awesome, and I was intrigued most by the K-Dogs. I will be back when I am in the mood for an different kind of treat.

More just a stunt with the gold leaf and Dubai chocolate is not that much better than the other flavors. Not to mention it's twice to three times the price of the other flavors Favorite so far is the espresso Boba is ok. Not the same level as the ones in big cities but good enough in the small town

This totaled up to $24. Pros: - Food: The Pretty Pink rolled ice cream was AMAZING. Can't go wrong with mango and the ice cream tasted perfect. Super light and yummy. My friend tasted it and said it tasted exactly how it looked, lol! Had a lot of options for toppings. The Thai Tea w/ Lychee Popping Boba was good, the popping boba is such a fun experience. The Takoyaki was great. The batter was rich and was very moist and the seafood was well cooked. - Atmosphere: The making of the Rolled Ice Cream is great entertainment. Fun for the whole party. - Service: There was only one person working, and she did a wonderful job accommodating my party in a kind and friendly manner! She also busted out the ice cream so fast! My little sister ordered the rolled mangonada ice cream and I'm not exactly sure if it was the ice cream or the sauce they used (pretty sure it was the sauce) but it tasted like straight up buffalo sauce. I ordered a brown sugar milk tea boba with tapioca balls (the normal ones) and the boba balls were really hard. Not soft and chewy at all. We had high hopes but after this not sure if we would go back sadly.
