I have been coming to Jade Garden my entire life, I grew up with this food and these employees. It is always delicious, I can't find a single dish elsewhere that's even nearly as good as their Peanut Chicken. The servers aren't exactly chatty yes, no ass-kissing, but they are attentive and efficient, and for a buffet that's perfect for me! The food is hot, the chicken is MELT IN YOUR MOUTH tender ALL of the time, and the dumplings and chicken broccoli are both so amazingly filling. Takeout is also just great! I love the family that runs it, I adore the food and atmosphere, and even though I now live in Lansing I always stop in when I'm in town. Because there's truly no place like home! read more

Truly uninspired. Was quite good when they opened years ago but the quality has declined steadily over the years. Mid winter in Michigan and the restaurant was muggy despite the door being propped open. We had a gift card so we went after remodeling all day and didn't want to cook but honestly I would have preferred Subway. Food was all low flavor and tainted with five-spice. Nothing tasted great. I would recommend World Buffet in Lansing instead. read more

The food wasn't any good, stuffed mushrooms were old and cream cheese filling was hard. The only thing that tasted okay was the cold crab salad. Not sure on the service because I filled up a to go container. It really doesn't matter, I wouldn't be back. I'll stick to Asian Buffet in Okemos or Portland Chinese buffet. For while we had avoided eating out due to the corona virus, but we decided we need to support local business that we have always enjoyed. Jade did not disappoint . the food is still amazing as ever. The service is always great. The best part of it though is the modification of their business to be safe during the pandemic. It is so thoughtful of them to have made it take away only and make the pickup process so very easy. In response to everyone else who posted.. they ordered the buffet.. it is always so fresh and better to order take away. My favorite is the peanut chicken and the Singapore Chow mei fun. read more

Food was very nasty. My family and I love Chinese food and my kids wouldn't eat any of it. Everything had a strange flavor. The noodles tasted freezer burnt. Well the experience started off like a two or three star one, the host was ok and the waiter was on time with the water but when we found out the was no sushi, or a grill, it went downhill from there. My relative and I were back from a day of work and we were tired and I suggested Chinese. Little did I know it was the most regretful experience of my life, the food was very greasy, even if I have high standrards for the food of my race. Went here to try and have a dinner in air conditioning. forget that... It had to be 90 degrees inside the place! The food was also a big disappointment. Did not have most of the staples they usually have like Beef with peppers and onions. We wasted most of our plates because it was just terrible. We had the dinner service & will never go again. Im sick of people saying Asian restaurant employees are rude. Consistently, every time I go to an Asian restaurant the reviews say the employees are rude and I never find that they are. I think there are two things going on here. 1) Asians are straight forward, professional, private, and do not engage in the normal fake butt kissing and banal mindless small talk found in corporate American restaurants. Thank god for that because I can't stand it. Not only have I worked in corporate restaurants and know how much acting goes on, whether it is enforced by the man or due to wanting better tips, I don't want to make friends with my server and find that annoying and stressful. I always enjoy how threatened people get when when you just cut the bs and say how you really feel to your Applebee's hostess. "Hi, how are you tonight"..."Awful and I'm sure you're not enjoying yourself either" (uncomfortable laughter followed by a moment of wondering whether they can be honest or not too, or awkward laugh paired with the look of a threatened ego realizing their charm isnt working magic on me, wondering if im going to leave a crappy tip...im a great tipper btw). So Asians just keep it real and dont believe in mind numbing social fluff. Many Americans find that offensive. I love it. 2) maybe these customers are just rude themselves and get it right back...maybe the employees are sick of these jerks eating too much, leaving a mess then walk-farting their way out after leaving no tip. Even I am repulsed by most people that frequent buffets. The messes, the piggotry, the waste, and no tipping. Bonus theory #3) I think there is really a bit of racism sometimes. "Why isnt my server like the obedient smiling geisha types I see at Disney World or in Bond movies?" The food here is typical Asian buffet fare. The employees are fine. The interior is spacious clean and comfortable. Giving 5 stars instead of 4 just to make up for the typical crap reviews given because the overworked Chinese lady who who puts up with our American idiot selves doesnt have a fake smile plastered on her poor face to stroke out fragile egos. read more

The food is good here, if you don't mind getting treated like crap. The owners/employees work themselves like slaves, and I don't think they ever get a day off, so consequently, they are rude. As the months and years go by, they despise the customers more and more. Who knows what they are saying in Chinese behind your back, but I get the impression they think Americans that go up for seconds are gluttonous pigs. Just not a friendly atmosphere at all. They act like you are a great inconvenience to them. I drive to Owosso anymore when I want Chinese--Fortune House, or the place on South Washington off M-21, where the food is great and they are NICE to customers. read more
