Had to try the "squirrel shaped fish" just because of the name... it's two lightly battered and fried logs of fish. The green beans and crab rangoon are the best. For some reason, a lot if the Chinese restaurants around here are closed on Sundays, but my husband found this one yesterday and we are so glad! The food was amazing, and they have an extensive menu of authentic Chinese dishes, as well as good prices on Americanized Chinese. Our waitress was extremely sweet and enthusiastic ("all the dishes here taste different from each other, you don't always get that with Chinese restaurants!" she said) She also brought us a sample of some of the authentic schezwan chicken and gave us some recommendations for if we come back with friends. Met up with family for dinner to celebrating our nephews 21st birthday. We walked in, got seated and reviewed the menu and since we wanted the Sichuan food, we stuck to the following items: - Boiled Dumpling with Spicy Sauce - Green Beans with Pork - Spicy Chicken - Pork Belly - Salt n Pepper Shrimp - Spicy Fish Dumpling - this was our favorite. This dishes reminded me of China, I would definitely get this again and again! The best part, it's not spicy at all, the sauce is bit on the sweet side. If you happen to order shrimp fried rice, mix in the sauce and it'll take the fried rice to next level! Green beans were okay, typically they make this on salty side, but it was on the bland side, same with Salt n Pepper shrimp and they don't use a lot of peppercorn on the dish. Spicy Fish - it was okay, I had better spicy fish in other locations. Spicy Chicken - what we thought and what we got was different... didn't realize it was fried chicken, the dish wasn't bad, not spicy at all. Pork Belly - this was my least favorite, as it had that Chinese taste to it... I'm still not accustomed to that unique flavor and to be honest, not sure if I'll ever be. Hong Kong Sichuan Province succeeded in delivering delicious food we've been feeling nostalgic for with incredibly kind service that left us feeling like we were part of the family. Our server Kelley was so attentive to my partner's dietary needs and went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable throughout our meal. One of the few places for good authentic Chinese food. They've got a pretty classic menu and their squirrel fish is definitely a highlight! A must try in my opinion. Finally!!!!!!!! I cannot express this enough FINALLY! A restaurant in the Lansing area that has real spicy food. When they say it's spicy it is... actually spicy. But not just spicy, it's flavorful. We had the Hunan Chicken and the Merchant chicken with an order of pork pot stickers, egg rolls and crab Rangoon. We loved it all. Our waitress was kind and very helpful! We will most definitely be back. The only reason they didn't get 5 stars was because the only entrance was surrounded by a sheet of ice, but that won't deter us from going back. read more

The environment is always fun, everyone is very nice and helpful, and all the food we've tried has been delicious. A few of my favorite dishes here are Dan Dan Noodles, Mapo Tofu, juicy dumplings, and Orange Chicken. It's been years since we've eaten here but always enjoyed the food, so we looked forward to eating here again. Recently I had dinner there with three other people. When the server came to take our orders, we couldn't just tell him what he wanted; we had to order it by the number on the menu. Not being very hungry, I ordered a couple of appetizers. One could be prepared two different ways but only had one number on the menu. When I told him the number and how I wanted it prepared, he didn't understand, so I had to explain it to him. My food came out right away. I had eaten what I wanted and boxed up my leftovers before anyone else was served. One of my party ordered duck, but they were out. When the server came back to tell her, he expected her to know rightaway what she wanted instead. He had to be told to bring her a menu. Then he just stood there. He had to be told to come back. This time she ordered rabbit. At least this time when the server came to the table to tell her they were out of rabbit, he brought a menu. This time she ordered kidney which they had. Another member of my party ordered shrimp which was the second thing to come out. We told him to go ahead and eat, but he opted to wait, saying he didn't mind cold food. Someone brought some food out and asked if anyone at our table had ordered it, but we had not. This same person came back twice to ask if we had gotten everything we ordered. Then we had to tell him again what was missing. After this happened the second time, the missing entrees came out rather quickly. By this time the shrimp had gotten very cold and too rubbery to eat. We were there for almost two hours. Very little of that time was spent eating. Most of it was spent waiting for our food which is why I gave such a low rating. This is the original to the Trizest in Sterling Heights. Menu is quite different. No general Tso tofu, garlic cucumber or the shredded potato from what I could tell. I ate here once before this second time and recalled being so disappointed with their menu after having eaten at Trizest so many times before. My hubby ordered the crab Rangoon for starters and the Sichuan chicken extra spicy. I ordered the hot and sour soup and the mapo tofu. The crab Rangoon is good and crunchy and tasty. The mapo is good and so is the Sichuan chicken. The waitress seems to have forgotten about my hot and sour tofu soup. I am letting it slide since I have enough food but will make sure it's not on the bill. They really should do something about the flies all over our food and by us. Ordered carryout last night. The egg rolls were extremely greasy and soggy. They consisted of a chicken and carrot filling that resembled meatloaf. After a single bite we all decided not to eat them. The orange chicken was ok and came with white rice as requested. The chongqing chicken was diced up pieces of fried chicken with a ton of chili peppers but absolutely no sauce whatsoever. The chicken was dried out and not worth eating. We ordered fried rice with this dish and it was not provided. They also failed to include the hot mustard we ordered. I have tried to like this restaurant several times, by ordering different dishes across three different visits. Tonight, it was a wrap. We ordered the super basics, sweet-and-sour chicken, General Tso's chicken and almond boneless chicken. The texture of all noted chicken was dry, overly breaded and weird looking. The sauce flavor was OK, but something is lost when you are chewing, and chewing, and chewing, and the chicken just hangs in there. The coloring of the actual meat was also off to me, it doesnt seem like it's chicken--let me stop, it's too soon. Any way, my best guess is that some (many) dishes are prepared ahead if time, frozen/refrigerated, and then fried/reheated when ordered. In my estimation that is the only way you make chicken this particular texture, AND have a $60 order pop up in 8 minutes or less. It takes longer to make McDonalds. read more

I visited this place for lunch. I ordered shrimp fried rice under the lunch menu for 7$ and some change (it came with sweet and sour sauce and 2 wontons). I have to say, this shrimp fried rice was the first authentic rice from a Chinese place that I have had in 5 years (I had stop eating Chinese food because it the food is questionable). But I visited yelp (as I usually do), and this place had good reviews. Now back to the rice; the shrimp was FRESH and actually seasoned, along with the rice. Great Schezuan Chinese. The place looks a little sketchy from the outside- almost like an old diner converted into a Chinese place. It's far from a luxury dining establishment but it was reasonably clean inside. If you're approaching from Clippert St., turn into the gas station on the corner and drive toward Homer St- that's the way the GPS took us. We came in on a Sunday night around 7:00 to a busy dining room, packed with Chinese people. We were seated right away and ordered "Fish Scented Eggplant" and family style tofu. The eggplant was out of this world; spicy, sweet, savory- so good. Our tofu dish was also great- the tofu was crispy, and it was served with cabbage that perfectly absorbed the garlicky sauce. My favorite authentic Chinese place in town. Food is always on point, service is very quick, and there's never any sort of wait. It's also incredibly reasonably priced for the amount of food that you get. Some of my favorite dishes include the spicy fish fillet, water spinach, green beans, and beef with green peppers.
