She's conveniently located on Branch Avenue less than 10 minutes from the metro where I park to go into DC everyday. I made the appointment and confirmed online. I arrived on time and she offered to let me sit in the kitchen to finish the food I'd brought. She did have a head in her chair at the time, but I wasn't over surprised. It was a cold, rainy Thursday evening. She got me in quickly and shampooed and conditioned me herself to sit under the dryer (of course) and then she quickly wrapped one client before me and got me in the chair. All-in-all I was out in under 2-1/2 hours and I consider that a complete win. My hair was LAID and I absolutely loved my curls. Whitney does an excellent job with natural hair. I don't need a whole silk press because my hair, while curly, is fine (3c/4a) but she still did a good job of determining the heat setting from my iron (I always bring my own now) and was willing to use my heat protectant, which I appreciated. 10/10

Charisma has the sweetest spirit, she listens to what you want, is extremely knowledgeable about hair, and I can't say enough about how fair the pricing is. You will be hard-pressed to get a sew-in for under $350 in the DC area, but you can tell Happy Tresses is mindful of the working woman's price-point and standard of quality. I should also add Charisma did the best cornrows I've EVER had in record time. My sew-in laid so flat, the style still looks brand new 5 weeks later--I honestly don't want to take it out, but I digress. I haven't tried the bundles yet (because I already had hair before I made the appointment), but the Brazilian Island Wave and Indian Steamed Curl are right up my alley and next on my list. She also makes some gorgeous/stylish wigs and I think I'm going to have to break down and buy one. Waldorf is a bit of a hike for many, but it has been absolutely worth it. I selected the wrong person - this shop Monet's House of Style. However, my last appointment on October 13th, the outcome is not positive, and thus, I am leaving my review and pictures to substantiate the 1 star. 98% of my communications with Danielle is through text messages. I understand each industry has their own pricing, and I realize that the cost of weaves can be expensive. My weaves are $495 every 6-7 weeks. ($210 for the hair & $285 for the shampoo/quick weave). September 25th, I paid for the hair and asked if Danielle did sew-in weaves vs quick weaves using bonding glue. She does. it's $300. OK. $15 more than my current cost of $285. The day of my appointment, I agreed with Danielle's professional advice to have her sew in the last row in the back instead of sewing in the entire weave which is what I asked for through text. It's November 11th and my hair is coming apart. I don't think for $495, I should be gluing in tracks. I texted Danielle about how much is a touch up because the back is still a problem and no response . "Still" means I have issues in the past.

Her salon is in a great, safe location. It is classy and well-appointed and clean, with comfortable sofas and chairs and vending machines. But most importantly, she doesn't cut corners on hiring the best talent. She has gifted braiders who have been with her for over a decade, and it shows in the magnificent styles they can deliver flawlessly and consistently. I've been going for over 10+ years with my 2 daughters. We are out of the salon in less than 5 hours or less, no matter how intricate our styles are. Our favorites are Fatu and Maya. The one who started out on my hair, I think her name is Philly, she is beyond outstanding, she and a few others worked on me. They are very sweet and courteous and got me out in no time.
