Used Jae's to trim an overgrown olive tree and cut back some bamboo in our backyard. Jae's quote was reasonable and I chose him as many of the 5* reviews were from nearby reviewers. Jae and his team were prompt for both the quote and the tree trimming. Actually his crew arrived 15 minute early and were ready to go at the scheduled time. I stayed in the backyard to watch the work. It's kind of fascinating to me to see what started off as a big huge bush of a tree take shape to become a nicely sculped tree. The crew worked efficiently and quietly and were done in a couple of hours. During the work, they accidently severed a wire for our sprinkler system. When I notified Jae, he responded immediately that they would take care of it. However no one had come in over a week. I think we've all experienced this before with contractors where they push you off and off and eventually disappear. Well after a week Jae responded that to give him time and that he would not cash my check until the repair is made. And a few days later the repair was made. I appreciate their integrity. This review is for my friend Jay who I deeply wish will put more effort into taking care of his friends and customers. It is with great pain that I write this review, but I hope it is taken rightfully as constructive criticism. Jay is a great, friendly, caring guy, but his time management and communication skills are downright terrible. One thing he is consistent at, is scheduling appointments and then bailing on all of them. This has been a trend in the last 2 years or so I've used his services. My most recent example is when he trimmed my trees in September 2024. I needed him to not bail since I had my neighbors move any obstacles in their yards to allow his crew to work on the portions of my tree that grow on their side. He bailed on that appointment, and it upset me because it took a lot of back and forth with my neighbors to get that scheduled. He was deeply apologetic, as he usually is and I understand that sometimes things can't go as planned. He offered me a free tree I was planning to buy from him as a consolation, which I truly appreciate as a nice gesture. I accepted happily, and he said he'll bring it and have it planted. To this day, I still have not received it nor has he given me a "real" delivery date. It's not that getting the tree is a big deal to me, but to me it is the epitome of "all talk, no action." I have other people I can hire to trim my trees that charge less than him, but I still chose to book Jay because he is my friend and I wanted to give him my business. However, I cannot subject myself further to paying for poor quality service, nor can I in good conscience recommend him to anyone else. I sincerely hope that after this review, he can reevaluate how he runs his operations and make the improvements needed to run a successful business. I hate sounding like a broken record... but you know the drill. Called up more than 1 tree service in my region. These ranged anywhere from your Mom&Pop, to nationalized services. Received wild estimates that were inconsistent from dealer to dealer. Called Jae's tree service, he offered to do an estimate within the next day (results may vary). Took at look at the areas needing work (60+ft pine, 30+ shade tree, 10+ft trees on a steep hill) and gave a fair estimate when compared to market value. We planned for 3 weeks out, made one confirmation text the day prior and he had his crew on site just before 8AM. It was a full-day job, but Jae's Tree service is efficient and I would highly recommend them! Their transparency and efficiency are well deserving of my 5-star review. TL;DR You don't know me, but if someone did all the work for you, Jae's Tree service would probably end up one of your top solutions. read more

It's been over 3 years since we last had them out and we let our olive tree get really overgrown. It took a little longer for us to connect this time and it was a little more expensive (because it was more work) but I am so completely satisfied with the job well done. They came out at 8:15 on a Saturday and were done by 10:45. No mess left behind, just a lighter, less cumbersome, well-trimmed tree. Amazing tree removal service! We had a 50-60 foot pine tree in our backyard that had roots breaking through the flower bed. Jae came out quickly to give an estimate, and when the day came he and his crew showed up on time and got to work right away. They were done much faster than I thought they would be and did a phenomenal job cleaning up the backyard when they were through. They even covered the pool to avoid dropping debris into it. Jae called to set up an appointment for estimate and showed up almost on time the next day. The task was to prune the pine trees and others on the slope and in the yard. After that I texted him a question but could not reach him anymore via text. So when the day came for pruning and he was a no show, no text and no answer on his phone, I began to scan the reviews. I found some unlikely people that were missed by Jae so I thought I was on the list. But later he left me voicemail for coming the next day. Next day he showed up promptly with his crew, always with that polite and gentle voice: take your time to open the gate. The crew of three fired away and got it done in a few hours. I was surprised most of the trees were thinned and cut more than I expected. I like the way the trees were pruned (see photos). Some tree service before just sliced them in half and left them that way. The crew did not clear some shrubs on the slope. I might not have asked Jae to do it to save money but I wished I did. Completely unreliable and untrustworthy. We had them scheduled for a Saturday last month. They no showed and two weeks later recontacted us to say he had to go out of town but would come the following Saturday at 8am. They no showed again. At one point around 10am, he said they were on the way, which turned out to be a straight up lie. Then about an hour later he said they were on another job that the customer kept asking for more work than planned. Finally, he said they would not make it but would be by the following Tuesday between 2pm and 3pm. Well, it is now past 3pm on that Tuesday. Guess what? No call...no show AGAIN! Clearly, they have the old business adage of "under promise - over delivery" does not apply here. More like "lie constantly and never deliver." We hired Jay & his guys to cut our palm trees as they were very overgrown and needed a good cleaning up. His price was fair & they did a fantastic job. There was a team of 5 guys that tackled our 12 palm trees. They were efficient, professional, and very nice to my little boys who were fascinated watching them. They went above and beyond in cleaning up and even netted out what got in our pool. After they left, you wouldn't have been able to tell we just had major tree trimming done. They were even careful when taking down the bunches of fruits (little balls) with a pulley & wrapping them so they didn't get everywhere. The before and after pictures show how much work they did! They did a great job trimming two large olive trees, removing unwanted chutes and dead plant matter, and pruning bushes. When I met with Jae I immediately had a good feeling about him. He is very personable and addressing concerns and questions. The fact that he is a Kings fan is just a bonus. :) The only issue that came up was that his crew did not show up on the original agreed upon date when I took time out of my day to drive to the home and check up on the work, but Jae handled it well, apologized, and made sure I was taken care of on the rescheduled date. I received several quotes, but Jae's personality and reasonable price quote won me over. I will continue to use him for any future tree trimming/pruning needs. read more

4.5 Stars. Jae's tree service did a great job on my trees. Very reasonably priced- this is the 2nd time we have used their services. Trimmed 3 trees, and just as before, they showed up a few mins early, were efficient at the trimming, and cleaned up all the branches/debris afterwards (including the branches that fell on the other side of our iron fence, along the green belt). They were also careful around our landscape lights, unlike alot of other maintenance places. I docked a 0.5 for accidentally uprooting part of a small plant in our crowded flower bed (it was tiny, and could easily get caught up, so no biggy), and for the missed appt time for the initial quote (although Jae texted back to apologize and we rescheduled to later that same day and he showed on time, so it was all good). The overall service and job itself was great, and I do plan to use them again in the future. read more

I had Jae come to my home and quote moving a lemon tree and removing my planters. He told me he could do it any day, I requested Saturday and he told me he could do it in 2 weeks. The day before the appointment I texted him to confirm and hours later he texted to cancel. He apologized and said he was behind on some work and would let me know when he would reschedule. Originally Jay was very responsive and offered a good price, so we decided to use his service. His team was punctual however he did not do the job as described in the scope of work and they left their trash from water and food in my yard. Instead of removing all the roots, he covered the roots with the wood chips so we couldn't see that the job was not complete. After contacting him about the left over roots he promised to come out several times and never showed up. I would not recommend using this service. There are so many other tree services, none as cheap as them but you get what you pay for. read more
