Huge menu! I didnt know what to go for.

Cheap, lots of variety. Well worth it! I cycled 13 miles from North London based on a recommendation.. to be honest I was bored and had nothing else to do. I was amazed by the variety of food that is on the menu and very pleased. The first thing I asked for for an egg roti and they had no more :-(, then I asked for a plain roti and they had no more :-(. My disappointment abated once I decided to order the mutton roll, Chicken kotthu roti, an aubergine curry and a faluda to drink. The mutton roll was slightly different to the ones I was used to. Normally the roll has a thicker crust but this was thinner. However it did have lots of spicy mutton and potato filling. It did fall apart as I ate but tasted great. I wish I had ordered some to take away for breakfast. Kotthu rotti is made from old hardened roti. Instead of throwing away the dried rotti they mix it with egg and spices and a meat or vegetables and put some curry to really spice it up. It is a must try and I would also order a portion of curry sauce to go with it. This is in case the roti is still dry. I loved the Chicken Kotthu and there was so much of it. The rotti was a bit dry so it was good to have the extra portion of curry to soak into it. I personally believe that there is better kotthu but this came very close. The aubergine curry was a bit too salty for my taste. It was also a bit too mashed up to even recognize it was a aubergine. I am used to actually seeing some aubergine rather than it being in a paste form. I loved the faluda which is made from milk and rosewater topped with ice cream, jelly and some other tasty bits at the bottom. I was relieved to have this as the spicy food started to burn me up. The place is not a palace and the price fits the environment. The staff are friendly but a bit stand offish. I think being polite and friendly always brings the best in most people and so it did here. All this cost about £12! A ride well worth it. However it was a difficult ride back with the spices burning my stomach.

    So tasty

Even when I was living North of the river, I would travel here specially so I can get my hands on my favourite mutton rolls and egg roti.

Ambience is as good as it can get considering that it's on a high street. Sparkling clean and service with a smile. I've never had Sri Lankan Tamil food before, but this is sure to be one of my regulars as it is also vegetarian and vegan friendly.

Why not give us a larger table in your completely empty restaurant? I like that they give your own bottle of water. The chicken kothu was really good. Street food from the eastern part of the island if I read it correctly. Chopped up roti, chicken, egg, onions and more. Tastes better than it sounds. They need to serve this dish in a larger bowl as it falls out when taking food out. The potato curry tastes good, but it's supposed to be in a coconut curry sauce. Which however was not very creamy and more on the watery side. As if someone had diluted the coconut with water and oil. Also a rather small curry portion. Also tried the puttu, which was three flour rolls, brown and white, good for pouring curry or Sambar over. The music makes for a not so very intimate and relaxing dining experience. Fast beat and loud like a Sri Lankan rave party, although quite entertaining music. They have a seafood Thali for £15 for those willing to splurge at lunch.

The moment I started reading the menu, I realized how close Sri Lankan food sits to the food from Kerala and Tamil Nadu -- familiar ingredients, slightly different names, small shifts in flavor. String hoppers = idiyappam. Kari instead of curry. It instantly brought me back to the years I lived in Nagercoil (Kanyakumari) where these flavors were just everyday life. So this meal didn't feel like discovery. It felt like recognition. The food is definitely on the pricey side, so I went in expecting a lot -- and some dishes really delivered. The Lamb Kothu Roti was the clear standout for me. Deeply savory, comforting, full of texture -- the kind of dish that makes you slow down because you don't want it to end. The mutton rolls with chili ketchup were another highlight: crisp, flavorful, and exactly what you want to start a meal. I tried the dosa with chicken kurma, which was fine but didn't leave a strong impression, and the appam (hopper) with stew, which I wanted to love more than I actually did. I also had a unique tipple made with arrack and basil seeds -- refreshing, slightly playful, and memorable enough that I wish I remembered the name. A colleague ordered the whole roast chicken and liked it so much he came back the next day just for that -- which probably tells you more than any review can. Service was warm, the space lively, and the overall vibe relaxed without feeling rushed. Overall: yes, it's expensive. But for me, the best parts of the meal were deeply satisfying because they tasted familiar -- not in a generic way, but in the way food does when it quietly reminds you of another time and place.
