We hired the Jafri company to clean and repair all of our family owned rugs, needing new fringe on some & some weaving on others. One of the oldest Iranian rugs, which was used in our foyer, came back, completely unusable with huge ripples in it that would not lay flat. Upon asking Mr. Jafri to take it back and stretch it and make it usable again, it took another six months, and still was not flat. I told him that we would be putting a claim in his insurance for the value of the rug and he claimed that this time he would make it better After another five months, it came back. It was better, but it's still not flat. He claimed he had to send it somewhere overseas to get it stretched . the rug is now a tripping hazard. Jafri offered no refund or compensation even after we spent $25k with him. I do not recommend this company read more

Words can not describe how thrilled I am to have found these experts on cleaning rugs. I had three old, filthy braided and an old old {like at lest 75 years old} fine but filthy wool Oriental rug that I had to make the decision to either pitch, or find a miracle worker. Seeing that float tanks were the way to clean these rugs, I finally found Jafri Rugs in Albany, about two hours away. The picked up my rugs, did their magic, and the suggested repairs of new side binding and fringe {the fringe on my 75 year old Oriental was like a bad comb-over, with some of the weaving coming apart} were worth it, the Oriental is luxurious and soft and gorgeous. I am seeing colors in it I never saw before. After getting them back and walking on them with bare feet - the wool braided rugs are SO soft and my feet love them. Even the dog has ceased to jump on the couch and now lies on the braided rug. Not scratchy and dried like how they were when I received them. I swear each rug was ten pounds lighter. I am indebted forever for these experts saving my grandmother's and mother's hand braided and cherished rugs. Even though I was far away, they picked them up and dropped them off. I did have to wait a bit, but realistically I had sat on these things for years trying to find a solution, so why get cranky asking someone for a two week turnaround? Besides, I had already tried getting one of the rungs cleaned by an "antique rug cleaners" expert and I still had dirty heavy scratchy rugs. It was the holidays and they wanted to make the trip back when they had a few more clients up my way. This made sense, and it was worth the wait. Don't hesitate calling them, forget the cost, fall in love with your treasured family rugs and consider the cost as you are working with rug artisans. Pay their worth and stop thinking in Walmart Rug mode. Recycle, and Re-use. Stop throwing good rugs away. An aside, Humza and the staff who picked up and delivered the rugs are pros at making you feel like you are their favorite customer, genuinely. Customer Service was beyond expectations wonderful. Thanks for giving me back my cherished family heirlooms, better than how I received them. Beautiful and talented work, they are the poets of fine rugs. read more

The whole team was very patient and flipped through dozens and dozens of options happily. We learned a lot about the quality of their selection - everything they sell is hand woven. Like others who have reviewed their experience with Jaffri, my Persian rugs were returned to me clean (albeit with a large STAIN that was not present before we had them cleaned). I was given a plethora of excuses for the stain but none that were acceptable. Getting them delivered and returned was beyond frustrating. We drove to Syracuse from the Southern Tier to meet with their driver for pick up and waited an hour beyond the pickup time to deliver the rugs to their driver. The two employees removed the Persians from our vehicle and laid them out on the filthy parking lot to measure them. We were told this is standard practice. We were initially told it would take three weeks to get the rugs back. Ultimately it was SIX WEEKS before we once again drove to Syracuse to pick our rugs up and once again we waited in the parking lot for half and hour for the driver to arrive. I would caution anyone considering doing business with this company to think again. read more

The cleaning job was fine, but the communication was poor. They picked up our two rugs and told my husband (I wasn't home) "see you in a couple weeks!" At the two-week mark, I called to check on the status, and the youngish-sounding guy said he'd check and call me back. He called me back to say they were ready. So...were they going to let me know had I not called? I asked when they could drop off, he said the next day. I asked for the total, he said he'd call me back with that. He never called back. Next day came and went, no delivery. I called and they said that due to the cold weather, it'd have to wait until the next week. That's fine but again...were they going to let me know had I not called? They delivered the next business day, and I said I'd call to pay over the phone since I wanted to take the time to unwrap them, unroll them, and inspect. I called the next day to pay over the phone. Be warned: While the Jafri's know their rug stuff for sure, they also use it to rip you off on any type of repair you need, including on something resulting from their deficient previous work. One of their tricks is to justify the inflated prices they charge for repairs by claiming that your rug is worth far more than it actually is and therefore the high cost is warranted. And, they're never clear about nor tell you in advance what the price could possibly be. They have a very smoothly articulate, well practiced, ingratiatingly loquacious demeanor to delivery their "if you have to ask you can't afford it" bombfoggery. I brought two smaller rugs for cleaning. The owner talks me into getting the smaller one fixed..the fray was gone and bottom starting to go. The explanation of why to do it and how precious my rug was, was very passionate. Places like these always put me off because when you know nothing of the subject, you have to put total trust in them. They are my late husband's family rugs. He knew about rugs. It's only been three years since he is gone so it was also emotional for me. I felt vulnerable and did not want to be taken advantage of. As soon as I walked in I got a good vibe of the place and the owner was friendly, warm and knowledgeable and made me feel at ease and trusting. They came back looking great and the work they did on the old one, over 100 years old, was amazing. Brought it back to life but it looks natural, not like it was "fixed." The problems are his personality and the time he took: more than FIVE MONTHS after estimating about two. My niece and I recently dropped off two rugs that had been damaged by wasps. Turab, the owner, had both repaired. The results were outstanding. You would never know there had been damage! I had purchased my rug at a garage sale for $95; it is a beautiful flowered rug with a white background. I was reluctant to pay for a repair and opted to have the rug cut down to a smaller size (the wasp damage was on the edge). The first rug's repair had been completed some time before, so I knew whatever Turab did with my rug, it would be good, but when we went to pick it up yesterday, we were shocked and surprised. Turab had not cut the rug down -- he had repaired it! He was able to do it for only a small amount more than the cutting of the rug would have cost and he knew we would prefer a repair if the cost was not as high as we had been told it would be. He took a chance because he knew my niece, had worked with her on her rugs and knew her preferences. We we so amazed and delighted that Turab had done this!!! I never thought I'd see the beautiful rug I had purchased at a "bargain" price - I think a once in a lifetime event!!!! - whole again!!!! And it is! In all its glory, thanks to Turab. Kind of misleading. The owner Turab led us to believe that our two carpets were worth $10k to $15k+ each. So of course we went ahead with having them cleaned (two rugs cleaned $1500). Then he told us that he would assist us in selling them for us and perhaps take them to an auction and sell them that way. After months of Nothing, we took our carpets and tried to see if there was any interest in other areas (NYC, Westchester, NY etc.) and were told by a number of dealers that our rugs were worth maybe $1000-1200 ea. When I called and asked how long it takes to clean my rug, I was told 10 -14 days. After 2 weeks I started to call and ask when I can get my rug back. They had all kind of excuses and promised me to call next day .They never called. I called at least 8 times and rug was not ready. After 30 days my husband lost patience and called them demanding to return our rug immediately. They delivered rug after over 4 weeks. read more

They did a great job cleaning my small cotton Turkish rug. It looks like new. My only complaint is that it took about 6 weeks when they originally said "at least 2," with mutterings about Hurricane Sandy. However, they did give me a loaner rug, so I'm very happy with them. read more
