We've started having dinner out twice a month and this was the most recent experience. I had gone online to the NORTH SHORE DINNING PAGE on Facebook and asked people about their experiences with the restaurant in the last two days and here's what people said: "great, tender meatballs", "great eggplant parmigiana", "very good experience". .... And what we found out is that they were right. Those things were all true! Now.... As to what we ordered: I got the grilled octopus. It was the only partial miss on the menu. Arugula just doesn't make a very good sauce and it was a pretty bad base for what would otherwise might have been a great appetizer. My mother got the Caesar salad. It was good. It's a hard thing to screw up. My father ordered the meatballs. They were amazing and delicious - just like Facebook promised. The tzatziki sauce was good. Maybe not as good as mine, but good nonetheless. So dinner.... Mine was the Chicken Saltimboca. It was so good that I'd bathe in the sauce they make with it. I loved eating forkfuls of the chicken with bites of the mashed potatoes. That was really luxuriant. My mother had the Eggplant parmigiana and she wiped out the entire plate. She loved it. My father.... Beef tenderloin tips. Maybe cooked slightly too much, but delicious. He wiped out the plate. To drink.... I was out of the hospital and recovering from brain tumor surgery, so I had the hard cider (3.5% BV), my father had the Peroni (Italian) beer, and my mother had the Bud light. I tasted the Peroni and liked it very much. The hard cider had almost no sweetness to it. It was dry as a higher end brut champagne.... Which actually set off the meal really nicely. My tastes weren't clashing and that was good. Our waiter, Sean, was great. Ask for him! We left a $32 tip, so the bill came to $197.85

Because I have a serious dairy allergy, I need to be careful when ordering, and the person helping me was patient and thoughtful about making sure my iced pumpkin spice latte was prepared with oat milk and remained completely dairy-free. I truly appreciated that care. Unfortunately, the breakfast selection was disappointing. There were no vegan food options available, which meant I could order a drink but had nothing to eat with it. For a coffee shop in a busy destination like Salem, I would love to see at least one satisfying vegan breakfast choice on the menu. My iced pumpkin spice oat milk latte had a pleasant flavor, but it arrived with barely any ice. An iced latte should be properly chilled and refreshing, especially during a warm morning of walking around Salem, and this one wasn't cold enough. Overall, the kind and accommodating staff were the highlight of my visit. With vegan breakfast offerings and a properly iced drink, this could have been a much stronger experience. For this visit, JAHO Coffee earns three stars from me.

The bagel was PERFECTLY crispy, the perfect amount of salt and the jalapeños were pickled. It was one of the best jalapeño cheddar bagels I've ever had. I also ordered two drinks because I couldn't choose. I went with the Black Sugar Matcha Latte and Hokkaido Milk Tea. The Black Sugar Matcha Latte is the bestest. Would definitely come here in the summer again because I love a good outside seating situation.

The calamari dish was cooked and seasoned very well. Service was great. We were seated quickly during mid afternoon, on a weekday. I love that there was free parking available right next to the restaurant. It is limited to 2 hours, which gives you plenty of time to walk around the wharf after you eat. We arrived for our 5pm reservation right when they opened. There was a line outside but when they unlocked the doors (reminded me of a scene from The Bear) most immediately went to the bar to eat and drink. Most tables are set for two people with a few for larger parties (6-8 people). Date night type place with more table turns. At 5pm, there were very few diners but by 515pm the place was packed and remained that way with other parties coming in (the pictures show before others arrived). Interior is very modern yet cozy. I noticed the table next to us was having difficulty with space (but not other tables). They ordered several appetizers (vs entrees) and wanted them at once.
