The loft features high ceilings and my wife compared it to staying in a treehouse. The room was immaculate and had several amenities, like a coffee pot and a microwave, so one could enjoy breakfast in-house if that was in your plans. There's also an adorable breakfast nook under a window looking out over the trees. Yellow Springs, Ohio is certainly my kind of quirky and lived up to expectations. From Jailhouse, it's a short walk, say five minutes, down to the heart of the town, and the famed Little Miami trail. This is a perfect location for those hoping to enjoy what the town has to offer. Affordable, convenient, and excellent service from the proprietors. Highly recommended.

The House was dripping with history, the décor was so amazing, I found myself just sitting and looking around as if I were sitting in a history book photo. We were there on a bike trip with another couple. The house is right off the Xenia Paths. They had secure storage for our bikes and a place for them to plug in. The price was more than reasonable. Very relaxing and just what this tired Mom needed. The Brighton room was cozy and peaceful, the bed very comfortable. I had peace and quiet and that was just what I was looking for. To top it off, I had ordered food delivery and after 2 -1/2 hour wait it never came and I had no dinner. One of the hosts, Jerome found me and I explained and he insisted on making sure I was fed and heated me up a steak and fried potatoes. I was so grateful and it was delicious and way better than the delivery that never came. In the morning I was fed the fluffiest Griddle pancake that was soft on the inside and crispy on the outside served with honey vanilla butter sauce and maple syrup. I also had cheesy eggs toast and sausage. It was all fantastic! I had to take half home it was so filling. I recommend this place to anyone who wants a relaxing night away. Bedding was comfortable, as was the room temperature. All appliances and fixtures worked well. Loved the Evelyn & Crabtree toiletries as well as the thick, fresh towels! Breakfast was very simple, consisting of cereals and canned fruit salad with a few cellophane-wrapped sweets, but the local coffee brew was hot, fresh and strong! We visited the little gift shop, and picked up a history book and vintage postcards. There are local crafts and wares available too. We recommend the Hearthstone to anyone considering a visit to the area.

We stayed in Room 2 on the second floor, very handsomely appointed in aqua and coffee tones, with silver accents. The room was lovely and very comfortable, both the bedroom and the en suite bathroom. I enjoyed reading a book in the chair by the window. The backyard was another highlight. There is a small deck, a fireplace, an English-style walking garden, and a main seating area with candles and comfortable camp chairs. In warm weather, it's perfect either for unwinding or for extending a gathering at the end of the day. Apparently the proprietor brings food in the morning? I was not awake in time to witness this; perhaps it is the breakfast fairy. In any case, the spread was noteworthy: besides the drinks, snacks, yogurt, fruit, and cereal available around the clock, there were uncooked eggs, miniature bagels, coffee cake or banana bread, and a variety of seasonal fruit. No matter how heterogeneous your group, everyone will find something to satisfy him- or herself. Sometimes it's the little things--such as the rubber duck in the shower stall, the small fish tank on the kitchen counter, and the soft jazz CD playing in the living room on our arrival. There was a basket of highly watchable DVD movies and a shelf of local-interest books. But the important things stand out too: the entire place was immaculate and the proprietors seem to take good care of both the property and the guests. This is a very strong 4.5. Some of our housemates were staying there for the third time, and I would not hesitate to return with them next time.

Points for beauty, for sure. The thing with most B&B's that I've been to is the welcoming/homey feeling. GVGH is literally a home but doesn't have any type of check in table or actual person welcoming you into the establishment. This is actually typically fine by me, as a biz traveler I look for convenience and a low key option to rest my head. So, GVGH's stocked kitchen (homemade yogurt FTW) and impressive breakfast buffet spread was a welcome respite for a sometimes weary and non-social traveler. The home is decorated beautifully and the patio is probably just perfect with warmer weather. I can certainly see all the care in appointing the home and the guest rooms! A few items that I wasn't crazy about: 1) The aforementioned lack of human interaction when it came to welcoming me, check-in/out, etc. I didn't see a soul for the 20 hours I was in and out of here. 2) The locking mechanism on the door gave me trouble from the get-go despite reading their shared Google doc of how-tos a few times over. Said doc was the only item I had to connect me to the property. 3) The first floor room has a half wall shower that drives me bananas. I end up sloshing water everywhere despite trying to stay as close as possible to the shower head. Those three fairly minor items aside, if you're looking for a beautifully decorated but hands-off B&B stay with thoughtful accoutrements, give German Village Guest House a try.

Anyway, Patty was a wonderful host who took great care of us (even through the town/village of South Charleston losing elec. power for a couple-three hours in the late afternoon-evening) and served us, and another group of 5 cyclers going the other direction (south) on the same 326 mile Trail, a wonderful, freshly made breakfast the next morning. The event was held in the main barn, and below the event space there is a beautiful suite for overnight stay. The suite features a full kitchen, spacious living and dining area, and a large bedroom with a huge bathroom with beautiful stone walls! The wedding was a wonderful success, and the venue is the reason why. The staff is incredible and professional. Photo opportunities on the property are almost endless, and span a variety of styles. I absolutely loved my time here, and I am already planning a stay for myself and my husband.
