I came across JAJ Associates by chance. I became interested in jewlery after having bought my wife's engagement ring two years ago. Getting excellent quality was always very difficult. Being treated well by a Jewler is even more rare. This was different at JAJ. First, Long (the owner) is transparent in doing business. He explains all of the factors in buying a diamond. He took it one step further. When he asked me if I knew what my wife wanted, I replied no. He respectfully said, "don't buy anything!" "If you get something she doesn't like, it will go into a drawer and won't be seen." Who gives advice like that? Long is not interested in scoring a quick sale. He wants to build relationships and not burn bridges. I bought a my wife a beautiful rose gold wedding band. When it needed to be adjusted, Long fixed it without hesitation. When I ordered a custom ring for myself, Long said he would do it right and take his time. The finished product is amazing! If you want things done well, they take time. You can see it in the quality. When a friend of mine had a shattered ring that no one could repair, Long was able to put it back together piece by piece! Came here because I was in the market for a new necklace, and I wanted to swap out my diamond necklace for a jade instead. Call me religious, superstitious, or whatever, but according to my zodiac, it's my bad luck year, and there have been numerous instances to prove just that. Anyways, back to JAJ Associates. I came here because my friend told me that he gets almost all of his jewelry here, so we decided to stop by. Their prices are fair, but do bargain. I got my 24k gold chain and jade buddha here. I can't complain on pricing. I got a pretty good deal from Long and his wife. That very same day, my boyfriend looked around and found something he liked. We ended up getting two 24k gold chains that day. He picked up a 30.5g chain, which we later sold back to them to upgrade for something heavier. My boyfriend and I have been going back almost every week, or every two weeks to see what's new. My boyfriend has already upgraded his jade twice! And, now he wants to upgrade his chain again, so now we're just waiting to see if they have something in the 100g range in the style that he wants. For Valentine's Day, my boyfriend got me an eternity ring here. We picked out a 18k white gold ring with VS1 diamonds. My family have been coming here for years. When it was time to find an engagement ring and wedding bands, I knew I would get it from here for the quality and price, and they did not disappoint. They have a special for a custom engagement ring that comes with free wedding bands. Long is friendly, nice, and very knowledgeable. He and his employees all speak English and communicate well. Long will do anything to fix the problem and make his customers happy. However, the only reason why I'm not giving this place 5 stars (and really it should be if they improve) is because you can never catch them on the phone so you always have to come in person to get an update. Also, we found a tiny bump in the ring and it took a very long time to get that fixed, and the final product looked better than when I first got it. Lastly, both our wedding bands were the wrong size so we had to come back yet again to get that fixed. When we got the resized rings, it was still a bit too big. read more

If we're talking about solely quality, they have the best quality, even though this store and other share the same design. I feel really bad doing this, but I felt like it was my duty on yelp to inform customers about a the dishonesty and quality of what you receive. be careful of what you are buying, especially if you plan on spending a significant amount of money. We met Long (the owner) who was really kind and helpful, however we were sadly let down by our fake product as soon as we realized we were lied to. I decided not to bother coming back bc of how insulted I felt. We just moved to the area and didn't know what to expect in the china town jewelry mart. My fiancé found this store and was told he bought a REAL white gold, cab emerald ring with real diamonds. When I first opened the box I fell in love with the design and didn't take it off for seven days. BUT AFTER SEVEN DAYS this is what happened to it. Fully tarnished. Stripped of color, broken prongs and the stones were shifting and diamonds were on their way out. It was cheaper quality than rings you buy at forever 21. I was so upset by this I took it to a new jeweler and was told this wasn't even silver. We even tested the diamonds which weren't even real. I was so let down I almost fell to tears because we felt so lied to and let down. Seven days and this happened to a supposedly real white gold ring?!? This is not normal. My fiancé was humiliated and it was such a sad experience because Long actually was kind to us, but the whole time he was just fooling and misleading us. We will never come back, let alone step foot in that store or any of their stores. Please refer to the photos as proof and please be careful of what you are spending your money on. I agree with another reviewer, I would give Long negative stars if possible. Long is DISHONEST and DECEITFUL. Our experience occurred in 2006-2007 was so horrible I still remember it to this day. Sadly, several of my family members and relatives have purchased from Long over many years and he was recommended to us. Back in 2006, my boyfriend (now husband) was planning to propose to me. So we came here with my sister and her husband. My sister has purchased several pieces of jewelry from Long including her engagement and wedding rings. It was our first time dealing with diamonds so "we thought" we could trust Long. I told Long what I wanted in terms of the C's and style. I was very specific about wanting platinum and a color between D-F range. We ended up walking out paying for a beautiful diamond (not yet set in a band). After the proposal, I went back to change the style of the band. It took Long THREE MONTHS to do the work when he already had the band in-store. We kept contacting him and he kept giving us the run around. When I finally went to pick up the ring, I noticed immediately that the color of the diamond looked more yellow than I remembered. He kept reassuring me that the lighting was off and this and that. In hindsight, I should have gone with my gut and not walk out with the ring. Of course, I had many photos of the original diamond when I got engaged. So when I went home and took pictures of the newly set ring, the diamond looked completely different from the original ring. We took the ring to another jeweler recommended by another sister who did not purchase from Long. This particular jeweler educated us that the ring was WHITE GOLD (not Platinum) and the color was close to H-J. Seriously?! We went back to Long and asked for a diamond certification. When we finally got it back many weeks later. It confirmed that the diamond was not what he originally showed and sold to us. Long knew he showed a much clearer diamond so we would buy that day but only swap it out with something lower quality while working to set the ring. He also knew he was making us a white gold NOT platinum band. He rarely answers his phone and when he does, he brushes us off saying he was working on it. He also avoided our emails. Finally, we gave him the lowdown on selling us one thing and giving us a completely different diamond & ring. Long avoided and ignored us completely. Finally, we reported him to the Better Business Bureau. We were even consider suing the guy but that would cost us more money. We do have the documents and pictures. Any attorneys out there who think we still have a case? I don't even wear my engagement ring anymore. I lost the wedding band we also bought from him but I'm not sentimental over it. DO NOT BUY FROM LONG. MR. GREEDY, DISHONEST AND DECEITFUL. * SIDE NOTE: Long also bragged about how he owned the entire parking structure attached to the jewelry plaza/building. And that he lives next door to Arnold Schwarzenegger. I guess he is proud of the fact that he gets rich by cheating honest people out of their hard earn money. My fiancé and I ate at a restaurant across the street and decided to walk off all the delicious food. We wandered through the marketplace and then came upon a small "jeweler's row" of sorts and we stopped in this store. I have always wanted a jade bangle bracelet so we stopped so I could price them. We were greeted immediately and I asked a few questions about Jade and the gentleman that helped us was very knowledgeable and explained how to tell real jade from fake jade. He showed us some bracelets and we priced them. We left and shopped around at the adjoining stores and they were less friendly and WAY MORE expensive than what he quoted us, so we returned. They were so nice and helpful, we ended up spending over an hour in there looking at bracelets, and they were patient and answered all my questions with no pressure to buy. I finally settled on a beautiful bangle with a carved design of a dragon and phoenix on it. Gorgeous! So after spending the night with my bracelet and absolutely falling in love with it, I decided to go back the next day to get a ring and ANOTHER bracelet for my other arm.....and they cut a great deal with no tax because I returned and bought multiple pieces! They have beautiful one of a kind pieces that you will treasure. First ever Yelp review and for a reason. I was brought to Long by a friend that bought an engagement ring from him, who was also referred by a friend that bought a ring from Long. I was probably in the second month of my face to face diamond search and probably the 4th month of my research. The store was filled with customers, many of which have been going to him for years. From beginning to end Long made the process of designing and buying a ring as enjoyable as it was educational. His patience, excitement and knowledge made me feel very comfortable and allowed me the freedom to enjoy the process as well. No question was ever too ridiculous, and no request was ever too unattainable. He was always honest and gave me his opinion and advice when I needed it. Long knows his diamonds and he has an eye for perfection. I went to all the major retailers and Jewelers including Tiffany's before him as I had a very high level of quality for what I wanted. I suggest you do your homework first and then see Long as he should be your last and possibly first stop. You can compare all the shops and Long delivers so much more. I randomly came in here to look at a pair of earrings. They said they didn't have the style I wanted, but they were more then welcome to custom make one for me free of charge. I figured why not! I sold my old one because it was broken and unfixable. The amount came out to an even exchange. What a deal! They said it'll take about 2 weeks, I gave them a call just to make sure they have it before I drove down there. I called and no one picked up I tried calling 3 times before someone finally picked up. A lady told me it wasn't ready give it about a couple of more days. Okay I gave it another week. I went back because I was in the area and they told me it still wasn't ready. At this point I wanted to cancel the order. My ear holes are very sensitive, I can't wear wear any kind or it'll start to get infected so I had no choice but to wait. It took them about another week before I finally received my earrings. There nothing fancy very plain and simple, I was quite disappointed on the craftsmanship. The earrings wouldn't clip correctly they had to sand it down a couple times before it finally clicked. It looked dull and scratched up. At this point my ear holes were starting to close up I was already fed up so I didn't brother saying anything. The end result of my bangle was that they started to work on resizing it the day I came in and waited over 2 hours. Long kept saying that it would be another 10 mins and that they are bringing it soon. He would say this every 10 mins as I watched the clock. The jeweler working on the bangle came down and admitted to just having received the job 20 mins ago. Needless to say, the job done was extremely terrifying and i am appalled that they would even return the customers item in the condition i received it. Looks like this store has good name heard from old friend . Seems , Long is very nice and very persuasive and trustworthy. Wife has some altitude, not that nice. In reality, they had a lot of flaws . Both husband and wife will sell you, to negotiate you and guarantee you the piece that you are interested will made it happened custom made design on the same day with very good price . Once they took money , they asked you to wait and they will never have time to talk to you again. Even, cannot tell what time, piece will be ready, they just keep talking to customers one by one . They don't care anymore. Worsely, they charged 3 or more times than other shops . And they critized other big jewelry shop next to them carry cubic zoric ( fade diamond) . One time, we went there to just research solitary diamond . Because of Long's persuasive and charming talk, my husband bought a solitary diamond for me which we did not plan to buy on that day and we found out later it was over priced. Afterwards , I still purchased several pieces from them but still not satisfied with them ( price, altitude, item quality etc ) I have checked this store reviews just now and found out they are quite as bad as other jewel store cheater. This place came recommended by a friend so I thought it I would give the place a shot. I went in looking for pricing and ideas on what was available and not to commit to buying. The owner was informative and helpful providing background on the types of diamonds what would be suited better for the design I was interested in. By the end of the visit I had purchased a diamond and ring design.
