AVOID AT ALL COST! Unfortunately, ZERO stars is not an option. I reached out to JACK Appliance Repair to repair my refrigerator. The technician came out and said it was repairable, however, the parts had to be ordered. I was required to pay for the services upfront. Against my better judgement, I paid up front. I also requested a copy of the receipt. After 48 hours of not getting a response or a receipt, I disputed the charge on my credit card. The technician did arrive to repair the refrigerator. He mentioned the dispute and I explained my reasoning behind it. He then proceeded to charge me AGAIN the full amount. My credit card company denied my original dispute stating I signed for it. Now a month later, after having reached out to JAK to get refunded, I still have not been refunded almost $1,000.00 Communication is awful, service is awful and customer service is NOT their priority. read more

He charged me $785, said he had to order parts and the two parts were less than $50.00. He request payment upfront for parts that were not ordered or necessary. His business needs to be investigated. One of the worst experiences I have ever had with a service provider in over 10 years of very active real estate experience. Pricing was unreasonable ($475 to fix dishwasher), and Jak's lack of emotional intelligence is striking as he just tries to ram down his "selling points" over and over, not listening or addressing specific feedback. This is the quintessential appliance repair "scam", and I feel bad for the people who fall for this. To add insult to injury, Jak didn't believe me when I said the invoice for the service call was paid, and called me from different phone numbers until I answered to demand a receipt. BEWARE!! I would give this guy and company ZERO stars if I could!! I don't know if he is a one-man-band or not. The technicians name name is AJ. Not sure what nationality, as I could barely understand him.... He was referenced to me through Appliance Pros., (now I cannot get a real person to talk to therealso ), and he was able to come out that day, a Saturday. The center drawer of my Frigidaire stop working. Instead of checking the non-functioning control panel on the front of that drawer, he opened control panels in the back of the refrigerator and claimed a control board there is bad, that it was not sending power, and that I also need 2-door switches, and a thermostat. I signed for $500.00 that day for him to be able to order parts. The invoice I got in email later, included a $35.00 transaction fee he did not tell me about. A week later he said he needed to check a part number, as he was not able to find the door switches. My neighbor was able to let him in, since I was not home. She said he took the middle drawer out and took some pictures, etc. Later he tells me he cannot get the part, and it is likely part of a larger assembly, - so I should find someone else to do this. (WHAAAT?). He also claims he replaced the control board in the back of the refrigerator, and the thermostat....I asked when did he do this? He said he replaced the control board on his first visit, and thermostat on the second visit! He never said a word about that on his first visit, and did not show me a removed control board, and or a replaced thermostat on his 2nd visit either.. So, I'm supposed to believe he had that control board with him, and replaced it without telling me or showing me that first day?? Hmmm.. He had implied he needed the $500.00 in order to order these three listed parts. He texted me a second time, saying I should find someone else to finish the fix. I finally called Frigidaire. They were out in 3 days, replaced the control panel on the drawer, and it was fixed, for a flat fee of $358.00. I told the Frigidaire Technician everything AJ w/ JAK Appliance Repair had said and done, and he said there was no reason to suspect that back control panel, or door switches, or thermostat, to address this issue at all. .................... I now believe I have been scammed. I have called and texted several times to get my money back. In several text exchanges since his first Feb 28, 2026 visit, and he contradicts himself over and over. The few times I have called to get some or all of my money back, he ultimately hangs up on me, and now has ghosted me for this last week. I am taking this to my credit card company for a dispute of the charges. Better Business Bureau will also hear about this- this guy needs to be stopped. In addition, the charge on my credit card does NOT say JAK Appliance Repair. It says "SQ *JAK&SAM", and "General Contractors; residential and commercial". There is no mention of JAK Appliance Repair or JAK Appliance Service. On the original invoice, there is only a phone and email, no address. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. The poor reviews are accurate. I have no clue how they have positive reviews on any other platform but this is the most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. A family member called this company to complete a repair on a refrigerator. Came out the first time, said parts were needed, paid over $400 for this - no receipt provided. After a few weeks went by, my family member received a call on a Sunday stating they would be at their house in 30 mins - no prior call was received. What company randomly calls and shows up on a Sunday? Upon arrival, they pulled up in an unmarked car and a woman was with him...no clue who the woman was...and he allowed this person into my family members home. The problem with the fridge? NEVER FIXED. The technician actually created additional issues with the fridge and was going to leave it until I showed up and said absolutely not - at least leave it in the condition you started with it in - not worse...so he did...left it exactly how it was prior to any "work" being done on it. Then stated my family member owed another $500. Again, no receipt. This useless service cost my family member $1,000 and the issue that was called about...NEVER RESOLVED. Do yourself a favor and steer clear. Not to mention...during the "repairs" this technician was on FaceTime or some type of video call showing whoever was on the other line the fridge...definitely appeared that the person at my family members house had NO CLUE what he was doing. Came out in private vehicle (not a company labeled truck/van) to assess washing machine which had 2 things wrong - always using hot water and machine filled up with water on every wash - sensor not working. Said he had to order parts and repair would cost $500, we said we can buy a new machine for $500, so he reduces repair cost to $300 with nothing in writing. We had to pay for service call ($69) on day of estimate with no receipt. We didn't receive a call back for repair. I requested a technician to check my dryer, but he didn't even know how to disassemble the unit at first. After figuring it out, he said the dryer needed a belt. I pointed out the worn-out parts and explained what was causing the noise. The technician made a call, speaking in another language, and quoted me $400 for the repair. With great reviews on Tumbtack, I'm not quite sure where the bad reviews here are coming from. Hired Jak to fix a problem with my washer. He was able to come out that day to assess the issue and order the correct parts. I appreciated his openness in showing me both the damaged parts within my machine, and the cost of the equipment needed to fix it when he gave me my order quote. After the deposit was paid, his team was back on-site to fix the unit within 3 days. When things worked better, but ultimately didn't solve the problem, Jak and his team were very responsive and came over 3 days in a row (including Thanksgiving day) to assess the machine. Ultimately, my washer needed another part to function correctly and due to the cost of that part (along with the previous parts ordered) Jak informed me it wouldn't be cost effective for him to repair the machine. Jak took back his new parts and refunded me for the service, no questions asked. While ultimately Jak and his team were not able to solve my problem, his knowledge, openness, and overall service will have me returning to him if I have appliance problems in the future. read more

Jak appliance responded quickly to my request. Technician arrived on schedule. My oven would not shut off and would come on by itself. Technician plugged the stove in and saw that the oven immediately came on without command to do so. He unplugged the stove and never checked the control panel. Didn't hook up any instrument to see what went bad. He proceeded to tell me the control board needed to be replaced. I don't understand how he knew the complete control board needed to be replaced without checking it. My husband chose JAK to repair our Whirlpool oven range (wasn't reaching/maintaining proper temp) because they were on Whirlpool's list of providers. JAK came out to assess, stated he needed to order parts (heating element and temperature sensor) and took a 50% deposit of $235. Returned with parts 2 days later and installed. I paid the $200 balance and it appeared the oven was fixed, so we thought. 6 weeks later - we starting receiving errors never seen before with this oven we'd been using for 4 years = "fault detected hit start to try again." Worked for 10 minutes after hitting start - then shut itself off. Granted, the 30 day warranty was already past for labor, but there was a 90 days warranty on parts. I contacted JAK right away. JAK told us to unplug for 10 mins and re-plug in and use, stating "just use it, it just needed a hard reset." I had my doubts, but continued using it as we had some time on the 90 days yet. Sure enough, right at the 90 day mark, we received the same error. This time though, there was a smell of melting plastic and the lights would flicker each time the oven engaged to maintain the temp. I contacted JAK immediately again via text and sent him a video of the error message on the display. His response "push start it will work. It is not a big deal you can use." Really? this is the second time for the error, along with melting plastic smell and flickering lights = "not a big deal"? He then asks "did you see any error code?" (after I just sent him a video of the error message). These were not good signs. He claimed via text that it wasn't his parts - without even checking it - offered to come back and "show me" the replacement parts he installed and claimed "both elements work perfectly" and "impossible" [that replacement parts caused this new issue] and that I "just need reset" again and to just "look it up yourself on google" - all via text. One time to reset is one thing, but to have to pull out your stove, unplug it every month or so is not acceptable - but this was his solution all via text. Sound like a brush off to you? Clearly there was a bigger issue when it happened again, along with strange smells and flickering lights - but he was adamant that it had nothing to do with his repair or parts. Granted, he offered to come out again for free and "show me" the replacement parts he installed (as if that would prove anything) and then check for other problems. Yes, JAK offered to come out for free and look at everything again - but it was clear he wasn't going to accept any responsibility for the problems after his repair. I was looking for a partial refund on his repair work of $435 that really only lasted 6 weeks until it errored out - because now, the way he handled the issue, we couldn't trust him to be honest that it might be his labor or parts, he would look for other issues and want to just charge us further. We loved our oven/range and believed originally that the $435 investment in repairs was worth it to keep it going - but now we couldn't trust the oven to work properly - or the repair man JAK. Clearly, it would be cost prohibitive (already spent 50% of cost of a new one) to invest any more on repairs we couldn't trust. I just wanted JAK to meet us part way on the $435 in repairs that really only gave us 6 weeks more weeks to use our oven. He offered irrational non-solutions to the problem (just pull out your stove and unplug for 10 minutes whenever it happens) and immediately claimed it wasn't his work - even though logically there could be a cause and effect happening. He refused to see his customer's perspective. That is why I wouldn't recommend JAK appliance repair services. read more

We had JAK come out to fix our fridge and had a great experience so when my mom needed her fridge and dryer looked at, I recommended JAK. My mom is now having to buy a brand new dryer and fridge because JAK messed up both beyond repair. The wires in the fridge were CUT and taped back together with electrical tape! They've had the fridge less than a year. JAK gave her a refund, but as far as I'm concerned, JAK should be buying new appliances up to the value of the two they broke. I give this company a ZERO rating,, I had them come to my daughters home to check on a LG refrigerator ,tech stated it was compressor issue, question if he could fix that type of problem, he stated yes, but no guarantee it would work, I agreed to him trying he called another tech and he can out, soon after that stated was fixed and to not open until 9 to 10 hours, it was making a sound like it was running and he changed the temperature low ,time waited but it was not cooling nor was even cold, no number to call, to let know it wasn't working ,and immediately out of also 300.00 and a non working refrigerator , I think he knew it wasn't working and wouldn't work no matter how long we didn't open it up,but a lesson learned" don't ever agree to a unsure fix for any appliances without exleast a 48 hours time frame for it to work or atleast part of your money back" the guy was on Google per my daughter looking at how to fix, until he called someone to come and help.
