I got to say. You don't find many good local businesses like this anymore. I get into the RC hobby in and out about every 2 years. Not sure why but that's how it works with me. I have purchased gas rc, electric rc and helicopters from this place. I have purchased parts, batteries, chargers and pretty much everything else at one point and have always had a great experience here. Great hobby store, friendly knowledgeable staff. The only problem is I spend to much money there.

I live in San Francisco but have been stopping by Jake's whenever I drive through (and sometimes make a special trip just to go there) for a few years. This is what a Local Hobby Shop is supposed to be. They have a great inventory of the highest quality products from the best vendors. More importantly they have a staff of people that are passionate about RC hobbies, especially Jake. After buying five or six airplanes from them over the years I finally got a dud with a bad receiver. Jake offered store credit without hassle so I wouldn't have to send the big box back to Horizon Hobby. They've made a few recommendations over the years and they've all been great. Please please please keep these guys successful and spend your hobby money at your local hobby store. There isn't a single hobby store left in San Francisco. read more

This is the best RC shop between the Golden Gate Bridge and the Oregon border. Granted, there are not too many choices, but Hobby Town in Petaluma can't compete and Awesome Hobbies up north is a bit on the small side, though a great shop as well. read more

I recently perched two lipo batteries. After only 2 charges one showed an error code 8. I called, Jake said come on down and I'll see if I can balance it. Turns out 1 cell was bad. He just reached in the counter and gave me a new one just like that! It was by far the easiest return I have ever experienced in my life. Jake and his guys are the best!! Shure you can get stuff off the internet a few dollars less, but you can't get customer service like that! To me it's worth it. I will always go to Jakes for my hobbies! Thanks again!! read more

Jake's performance hobbies is the place to go for your rc needs! One of there employees "Everett" is very knowledgeable, professional and a great service representative all the way around. They have great prices that are comparable to online prices! I bought most of my parts that are on my yeti and the yeti itself was purchased at Jake's. They also have a shop to perform work on your RC's for a fair price. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

I just got referred to these guys from a new Rc group I joined. Not knowing a lot about planes can be intimidating when you are trying to learn. All the guys took all the time I needed every time I went in to get me the stuff I really needed. I bought a battery that had an issue and the exchanged it without a hitch. I've been going to Jake's Performance Hobbies for close to 5 years and they've been nothing short of great. My RC boat is for work in conjunction with a trained border collie to get rid of geese on properties and I have no real knowledge about RC anything. Top notch. This store is an hour and 15 minutes (one way) from my house and was definitely worth the drive. Have a few local RC shops around me that I've been to plenty of times and I would have to say I was most impressed by this one. Came in 30 min before closing time and was greeted by both employees working. Come to find out one of them was the owner Jake. He was very professional and kind. He answered all my questions and also added tips and advice to help me. You can tell he enjoyed what he does and it shows though his great customer service. His prices are competitive if not better than what you can find the stuff online for. So between great pricing, great inventory and great customer service, you cant go wrong with this store. I don't know if it was the fact that I did not spend a 1000 dollars with them or if there staff really only knows one type of rc. I would figure you would want to have knowledge in the rc world calling yourselfs a hobby shop. I asked for a part for the second time now( two different parts) and they have told me I was shit out of luck that I should throw my rc away and buy there 1000 dollar model. Well guess what guys I'm not rich and you make more money in parts. Well you would if you would stop turning people away when you actually have the part. Man Jake how much money are you loosing because this guy acts like he holds the keys to the car for skull and bones. Did I miss my tap or are you guys booming with so much business you can tell people that you don't have a part when you really do. This place is great! The guys are super friendly. We went in looking for a $200 RC helicopter, and they talked my husband in to buying one for $40 more appropriate for his level of experience.
