Was referred here by a friend who had used this shop before. Super chill rental shop. Employees are always quick to greet you as soon as you walk in. They never seem too busy to help even when they're chatting amongst each other. They get you checked in and ready to go within minutes. They're super patient when it comes to choosing your gear etc. I asked about switching from skis to snowboarding, which they said was no problem at all. I also asked about adding an additional day onto my rental contract, they said no problem - when you return your gear, whatever additional days can be added on at the end. No need for more paperwork or a new contract; Just bring the gear back by 5 pm. This shop has a sister shop right next to the town lift in DT park city. However, this slope side shop is definitely less busy. In fact, they were willing to let us pick up our gear before 2pm whereas the other shop said wait til after 2pm because employees were on lunch break. So we opted to get our gear here, especially since they said they could hold the gear overnight for free, for us to pick up the next day. So we left our skis and poles there for morning pickup. They sized my friend for boots and they adjusted my rental skis to fit my boots. They sized up a helmet for my friend and then they had us try some poles. They recommended shorter poles, which we agreed to. They do not store your helmet or boots at the shop. What's good about the shop is they have cubbies where you can keep your shoes. They don't guarantee your stuff, so it's at your own risk, but I don't think anyone was going to steal my shoes. So i left my shoes there every day when i picked up my skis. They open at 8 and close at 5. The lifts are 9-430 so it works out perfectly. We would show up, get our boots and gear on, grab our skis and go! The shop was good about answering the phone when we called for help - someone had stolen one set of our poles. Of course there is a charge for lost poles, but I thought the charge was well below reason. Again, super chill shop. I never did change to snowboarding; the skis were perfect for the conditions. The shop has many employees. All were nice and helpful. They even let us in on the upcoming weekend events such as Gaper Day and something about a pond party etc. They gave us recommendations of what to do around town too. All in all, a great shop with wonderful employees with a convenient location and good gear. Renting online ahead of time will save you 20%. So for three days of ski/pole rental with the damage insurance, I paid $67. Great deal. read more

All of the staff were extremely helpful. They really seemed to care about fitting us with the right equipment.

Two stars because the girl who checks people in and out was so kind and knew what to do even when every male in the shop did not. The missing stars are because 5 of us listened to a tech tell our friend how to adjust her snowboard bindings at rental. That afternoon when she went back for assistance adjusting, his coworker decided to light her up for self adjusting the stance on the board. Accused her of lying and pretty much was aggressive enough to ruin her day. Day 2 we go back to adjust the stance AGAIN and one of the employees says "Ohhh the liar is back"! What happened to diffusing the situation, appeasing your customer and everyone has a great day?? Failure on Jake's part, two days in a row. read more

Do NOT get your skis tuned here if you care about your skis. I got my skis tuned and waxed here 2 days ago and they removed so much of my base edge on my right ski that it doesn't turn properly anymore. This is not good service. This is a destruction of skis. People are nice, But that's not what makes service worthwhile. $40 to ruin $1,000 pair of skis. Thanks. read more

Great little place with great help! The location and the fact that they store your skies and poles overnight for free is the primary reason we chose them. They were more than chill when we needed to extend an extra day and then even more helpful to close out our ticket when we had to cancel our rentals due to mandatory Corona virus closure by Vail Properties. Bonus: One employee from the adjacent shop SUREFOOT took our boots (because Jake's was already closed) with the promise to take them to Jake's the following morning. Called Jake's to close out our ticket and they had already received our boots from SUREFOOT. Now that's a good neighbor! Both places will receive our business next time we return to Park City. read more

Very convenient ski-rental location right at the bottom of the slopes. Slightly cheaper than other locations Good ski collection but very poor boot collection. I tried 3 times and I couldn't find the right boot size even after I specifically explained to them my Mundo and last specifications. Our whole group rented from here for our recent trip to PC and we weren't disappointed. The staff is super helpful and efficient as well. Dan and I went back to get our boots resized and it took less than ten minutes total. Super friendly and convenient! Great rental rates, good equipment and very helpful staff. We used Jake's on the recommendation of a Park City employee and we were very happy with the pricing and the service. Jake's is not the closest ski rental to the mountain but it is a very manageable 2 minute walk from the lifts. The address and Yelp map do not actually map you to the shop on the mountain. All was well with our rental until we went to return our skis and found out that two out of the five our party had been overcharged for our skis. When we showed them the initial reservation the response was 'well you ended up with a better pair of skis', which didn't really fly because two of us were beginners. These guys will upgrade you without asking and then overcharge you in the end. Beware! read more

Jakes is our go-to ski rental place and has been for at least 8 years (although we only come once a year). The guys are great, very attentive, will work with you on getting just the right fit. Prices are in-line with everyone else, even better with their 20% coupon off their website. It's right by the ski-lifts, so if you are a beginner and don't like walking in ski boots, there is the absolute minimum steps needed :). My first trip to Park City. Week one we rented from the Legacy Lodge who charged $7 a day for a locker, free at Jakes. Legacy refused to give me tomorrow's skis until after 3:30. Jakes rented them to me the day before and stored them overnight for free. Jakes was less expensive and gave me better equipment. They did the whole transaction with ease, a smile and offered to change my skis if the conditions changed. To make Jakes even better, they are on the surface/ground level so you don't have to go up and down steps. We won't consider anybody else for equipment in Park City. read more

RENT HERE. I highly recommend Jake's. I rented here for the past two years, and this place is great. Every employee is engaging and funny, and I had a great experience renting and returning my skis and boots. Super fast. I've rented skis and boots from another location here in Park City and in Colorado and Tahoe, and this place is the best. And, everywhere else I rented from the boots smelled AWFUL at the end of the day; I always had to plan to take an extra pair of socks on return day to get my shoes, but not here. And, if you reserve in advance, the price is much, much cheaper than the other shops. My boots were even surprisingly comfortable enough to wear for the trek back to the hotel at the end of the day. read more

I do ski trips 1-2 times per year with family/friends on a rotation of several resorts in Colorado, Utah and California since 1981. I found Jake's while searching online before a trip to Park City in 2009 and just used them again while there the week before X-mas 2011. In my experience, there is no better place to rent ski/board equipment. This small shop right next to the lifts at the base of PCMR has the ideal combination of convenient location, great service and quality equipment at low rates. The staff is attentive, engaging, know their stuff and do it with a smile. They have free storage compartments for shoes to minimize time in ski boots during the day and have free storage for equipment overnight. My 16-year-old son switched from board to skis (then back to board) with ease. On a powder day, my father-in-law needed special OTG goggles - they happened to be out, but called a sister shop and had a pair there in 5 min. They seemed to ask all the right questions to ensure that the bindings, straps, settings, etc. were correct per ability and needs. read more

Rented ski equipment online a few days in advance and received a nice discount on top of the already fairly priced rental! We opted to pickup from Sports on Main. The equipment we received was in excellent condition, and the service when we picked it up was outstanding. When returning the equipment, the staff was still very friendly. If we haven't purchased our own equipment before we return next year, we will definitely be renting here, again!! read more

Incredible customer service and expertise about what gear is best for you. Prices are great and the gear is top of the line. The location is great. However, I would not recommend this shop. Four out of four skiers had big issues with our equipment. The boots fit very badly. The size was right but the boots seemed cheap. VERY uncomfortable. I was not confident regarding the staff expertise. Lots of other rental places to choose from. read more

Super helpful, not much waiting. I guess they sometimes randomly close early but you can go return your gear next door if that happens
