I was trying to free my jammed swing-out window with a broomstick and a JMC maintenance guy outside called me a "cocksucker". I am not, but even if I was, it's still rude. I don't make noise, I don't clomp around in boots, I bring packages inside, I help my neighbors with groceries, strollers, I get rid of the junk mail left on the mailboxes, pick up litter from the yard, close the dumpster lid when it's left or blown open, turn my car lights off when I pull in to not disturb the basement apartments, never let the front door slam, but they won't renew my lease. I pay my rent on time every month, without fail. My building is next to a highway wall. I wanted to Craigslist my bow, so I brought it and a big target trap out to test it, put the trap against the wall, shot four arrows and came back inside. Someone called the police and JMC. Someone also called JMC and the police to say I was cooking meth. I've never even seen meth before. My neighbors seem nice, but someone has it out for me. The only thing I can think of is I had a red Mohawk for about six weeks (I'm in a band). JMC won't renew my lease. Maybe they also want to raise the rent, I don't know. The smoke detector wouldn't stop beeping, yes I put in a brand new alkaline battery, so I had to unplug it, the bathroom fan that comes on with the light is deafeningly loud so I had to disable that too. NO I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND DEALING WITH JAKOBSON. They are cold and obtuse. It's a shame, because I actually like the apartment, it's pretty nice. read more

You want cockroaches? Jmc's got it. You want failing heat in the wintertime? Jmc has that too. You want a space heater because the heat in the apartment doesn't work? Well that costs $500. You want a friend over? Well guess what here comes a noise complaint. Everything is your fault and will cost money for you to get them to fix it, and then they will in addition make sure you know that it's your fault as well. HORRIBLE Company! This company is money hungry, they do not update anything in the yards or around the homes. Snow removal gets taken care of way after the snow has been done for a long while, causing cars to be stuck in the back driveway. They are trying to raise the association fee to $230 (from $180 already) a month per unit!! Absolutely crazy! This does not include garbage or any utilities! Last summer, there was one guy mowing all the lawns with his personal lawn mower. He was driving in circles and missed a huge majority of the dandelions. The bushes never got trimmed, weeds did not get sprayed, and the rocks in the gardens are very low where you can see the black liners! They also dictate where your cars are parked and how long they have been sitting there. Mind you, this is what we are paying the association fee for! Trash company. read more

Absolutely terrible staff!!!!! My application fee was taken, and I was promised a unit. I called at the end of the month to check on the status and was told the associate was terminated and the apartment had been rented. I was offered a more expensive, less impressive unit which I passed on. My application fee was not refunded, and I was told, they operate on a first come first serve basis, even though I was already promised the apartment. They are shady and just want your money. I seriously can't thank JMC enough! I rented through this company for 4 years, only moving due to a job out of state. The office employees are always pleasant to talk to and ready to answer any questions I have. (Cassandra, Stephanie, Savannah, you guys are seriously rockstars!) The maintenance guy (Jaren I believe is his name) is quick to fix anything I had problems with. He always managed to efficiently and thoroughly take care of any issues I had and was respectful of my property and time. I've rented through so many different rental companies that only want to take your money or would be impossible to deal with. I doubt I'll ever find a company so professional and top notch again. read more

This is one of the worst companies to work with ever. They never answer their phone, don't respond to emails in a timely manner, don't fix things with the properties when you need them fixed, and are just outright rude people. Haley in particular, is the worst manager we've ever dealt with. It takes her days to respond back to voicemails or emails, isn't helpful with anything we need, and doesn't want to do anything for the tenants. We had so many problems with the house we rented from them, including mold (everywhere) and leaking pipes. We had to call many times to get it fixed and weeks later someone finally came out and did it. The pipes however we fixed and then broke again. We will never again rent something from jmc again. Have to give a one star review but wish I could give zero. They don't deserve good reviews. read more

I have lived in a Jakobson Management property for just over a year. The first part of the year was fine-no real complaints. I was a little disappointed when I asked the maintenance person in the winter if someone was going to be salting the steps and sidewalk in front of the building and she told me that the tenants are supposed to do that.... uh.... ok.....isn't that something that the property owner is supposed to do? The biggest complaint that I have is that when it started getting cold again this year in September/October, when we would have had to have heating, my apartment was surprisingly cold. Being the passive Minnesotan I am I assumed someone would tell them about this and fix it, because I didn't want to be a bother. I eventually mentioned it to the office sometime in October because the problem wasn't going away and I would wake up freezing because the heat either wasn't on or was incredibly low. This was probably sometime toward the end of October. I mentioned it again probably the 2nd week in November, and this time when I brought it up I was good and ticked off. I checked the temp and it was 54 degrees in my apartment. when I complained to them about it on a Tuesday morning, it still wasn't fixed by the Friday afternoon and I was left a voicemail that said they got the part and it the problem was taken care of. I left town that Friday afternoon and when I came back the next day, still 54 degrees, so the problem had not been solved. This time I was just pissed. I called and demanded them to do something about it-these living conditions are not up to code! I was called a bitch by the maintenance person who came to fix the boiler, the same person who told me that since they didn't hear anything after trying to fix it, they assumed it was fixed....wow..... Finally the boiler was working and the heat was restored I want to say the Monday afternoon or Tuesday middle of November, but I had to go a whole month with cold temps in the apartment. Extremely unprofessional and slow in solving problems. The property is great, no bad things to say about that, but how little they cared about this issue was really upsetting. read more

My husband and I will never deal with Jakobson Management again. They were bad to deal with. When our garbage disposal broke the maintenance manager told me to stick my hand down there and to see if anything was blocking it from working. Umm no you do not tell a person to do that. Another time they entered our apartment when we weren't there and they didn't notify us. We only knew because when we came home we saw people exiting our place and when we confronted them about it we were told that they "sent" us a text that morning that they would be coming over shortly. Neither my husband nor I received any text messages. Needless to say we were mad. When we dropped the keys off there after our last day they told us to put them in their black box by the door. The next day I get a call telling us that we need to give them the keys or they would be charging us for another month. I told them that we dropped them off the night before and they still couldn't find them. I had to actually take time out of my day and go over there and find the keys in the exact spot that they told us to put them. They never even checked their box. I would recommend not renting or dealing with them. If you have the choice go with another company. read more

I've been renting an apartment from JMC for about a year now. Overall, I've found the staff to be very friendly and helpful! I've been surprised to read all of the negative reviews here, so I think they must have made improvements. Whenever I've needed something fixed, they've been great about getting things done in a timely manner. The only negative I have is that I received a garage door remote opener, but never a code for opening it without the remote. They reached out to the owner of the building to find out what the code is for me, but it sounded like the owner couldn't find it and didn't know. That's not JMC's fault though. It would be nice if that could be figured out, but in the grand scheme of things, that's not a big deal to me. As long as my remote works, I'm happy. When I had a problem with it once, they fixed it right away. read more

Jakobson Management Company and employees reflect the world of real estate in a poor manner. The company leaves apartments in a state of uncleanness, to the point that it is probably illegal to let residents move in. Additionally, the company is bad at following through with requests from residents to have items broken within apartments fixed in a timely manner, if ever getting back and fixing the problem at all, unless one is extremely persistent. If you are an individual seeking a management property company, I would stay clear of this one unless you want numerous complaints and issues from residents of your property. read more

Jakobson was hired to be the property manager for a single family home. The property manager did not answer questions and ignored agreements on monthly management fees and how maintenance would be handled. Worse, property manager was deceptive in communications. Property manager no longer manages this home. This company should be avoided. read more
