I just went to pick up my food from the restaurant and it is very very unsanitary. All off the cooks did not have any gloves on and were touching the food and utensils they were cooking with door handles etc. Then when I went to pay the cook came over and grabbed my money and the money in the drawer then went right back to cooking without washing her hands or putting gloves on. read more

Since I was going to be working some loooooong days, I decided to order a bunch of food so I wouldn't have to cook. Hadn't tried Jalapeno's before. Delivery guy was polite and showed around the estimated time from Foodler. It's a mix of El Salvadorian and Mexican foods. I ordered Pupusas de Queso con Loroco, Pupusas de Frijoi con Queso, Nachos, Pechuga de Pollo Asado, Mojarra Frita, and Fajitas de Pollo. Put everything in the fridge but the Nachos which I ate upon arrival and they were quite good and not greasy; not junk food style nachos. For dinner, the Pechuga de Pollo Asado (baked chicken). It was a little dry but still flavorful. Enjoyed. It sat on a bed of rice and came with a salad. The next morning I had the pupusas for breakfast. The Pupusas de Frijoi con Queso were decent. The Queso con Loroco was runny. It looked like it was filled with butter, not cheese. Pretty greasy. Pass. The Mojarra Frita (fried fish) was excellent, but know you are getting a whole fish- bones and eyes and lips. Not for everyone, but maybe you can put a napkin over its head and tail. #letterbox Unfortunately I can't say anything about the Fajitas de Pollo since I don't think they were fully delivered. I got rice and salad just like what came with the baked chicken, and some thick corn tortillas, but no chicken or typical fajita fare. I should have checked upon delivery so it's partly my fault. :-/ But James, you say, why didn't you call? Because the call goes something like this "Hi, I ordered food from you about 40 hours ago and only just realized an entree is missing. ...uh huh. Yes that's right. So can you run that over here? Yes I'm eating 40 hour old delivery. Yes. Mmmhmmm. Yes that's right, all that order was just for me. Uh huh. Correct. Because I'm a shell of a man. Mmmkay thanks bye!" I only ordered the rice and beans side dishes, so I can only comment on that. They both tasted good, but one or both must have been cooked in chicken stock. I am a vegetarian and I get sick if I eat meat, and I definitely had "meat sickness" after I ate this. Thankfully I wasn't violently ill, but it would be really nice if they would note on the menu if items that are typically assumed to be vegetarian, like rice and beans, actually had meat in them. To be fair, my food didn't taste terrible, and my (meat eater) roommate really enjoyed his steak tacos and burrito, hence the two stars. But that's not enough to excuse not marking common dietary issues like this on the menu. I always order pupusas from this restaurant. It used to be my favorite spot. I would always get pupusas revueltas which consists of cheese, beans, and pork. Today I ordered and was very disappointed when my pupusas seemed old, and were only filled with beans! They need to change back to their old recipe or better the new recipe they have. I am absolutely BLOWN AWAY by the quality of this food. Ordered delivery yesterday through GrubHub and the food was hot and on time. This place puts so much care and attention to detail in their food. One of the dishes I ordered was the liver and onions and they even packaged the liver separately given all the juices. I ate the steak cold today and it was ridiculously tender and perfectly seasoned. Salad veggies are crisp and fresh. The portion sizes are generous to the point where the styrofoam container started breaking and the appearance of the food is just gorgeous. So sad to have to write this. My husband and I have been ordering and enjoying Jalapeños food for almost 2 years. Steak tacos are amazing. Sadly, tonight the service completely turned us off from this gem. We called to order delivery, the woman was incredibly rude, she barely took our order, then when she couldn't understand which street we were saying,(street vs terrace), she abruptly ended the conversation by saying the delivery man would call us to figure out the address. Ok we understood, language barrier. My husband called back because she never took our CC#, she sent our call to VM twice. When he called from another #, she hung up on him before he could even explain himself! Eventually, the driver, aka the owner, called to clarify the order. By that time we had ordered and received our pizza and explained why were were canceling our order. Just ordered take out via Grubhub. I was so impressed. The food was earlier than it said it was going to be, already I'm happy. The nachos were not only visually appealing, but remarkable for being delivery! Pork on them was delicious. We also got a steak burrito and the steak was yummy and tender. We ordered takeout from this place. We've had their picada platters in the past which are huge and simply amazing but were in the mood for pupusas and nachos today. We ordered the steak nachos and cheese with loroco pupusas, the chicharrón (pork), and the beans and cheese, and an horchata. Everything was really good! The steak in the nachos was well cooked and good cuts (no fat). The horchata was delicious and I'm so glad I decided to get it. Will definitely continue to order from here :) read more

Lunch today while lost in Everett - nice surprise! We got a Tipico Salvadoreno and some tacos. The Tipico had tasty scrambled eggs with onions and peppers in them, great refried beans, fried plantains, soft cheese, avocado and came with two soft warm pupusas that were delicious. Add some of the salsa and hot sauce, perfect. The tacos were really spectacular: double hand made tortillas totally loaded with crispy pieces of pork and beef, topped with onions and cilantro. We used to order pupusa from here all the time and were always impressed, though delivery times were pretty bad. They hit a new low last week when I ordered through Grubhub. It said about 1 hr for delivery, fine. Called an hour and a half after the order was placed because the app said the food hadn't left the restaurant yet. The woman who answered said that it was on its way. Another 20 minutes goes by. I called again, same answer. I asked if she was sure and if she could check with the driver and she said she didn't know what to do and hung up. Another 20 minutes. I call again to ask if the food was actually coming, as the restaurant was actually closed and not taking orders anymore. She started to say the same thing, then passed the phone to someone else. The man said he was the owner and driver and that he "called the number and the person said the food was already delivered." I asked how that made any sense and he suggested that I gave the wrong number (I didn't). I asked what they would do and he repeated his story and said they could only give a refund since they were closed. If they were behind on orders and couldn't fill it, they really should've just said so instead of making up a strange lie. Left us waiting 2 hours for food that never came and the refund took over a week. Sadly will never order from here again. read more
