I can't recall the last time a sandwich was so massive that I took a break. The Top Shelf contains myriad meats. I don't know the particulars but I believe there's prosciutto, ham, salami and more (feel free to note errors/omissions in the comments). There's also a riveting topping that includes pickles, peppers and onions. Service was great. Since there are no seats, some logistical work is needed. Really disappointed in my order. I traveled over an hour for my dinner. I ordered a chicken Parm/meatball sub. Only got meatball without parm. Ordered and paid for mozzarella sticks, never got them. Consistently wonderful sub sandwiches! It's an Italian deli, be prepared to be overwhelmed with options at the counter. They have a menu that lists them all, just not what's on all of them since that would double the size. Service is great. It's a "who's next" system but they're fast so it's not a big deal if there's a mixup on who was there first. They're more than happy to accommodate any requests. This place is, at its heart, a market with fresh vegetables and fruits, dairy products, specialty breads, imported Italian products (including 200 different styles of dry pasta), and most importantly, a deli. Their menu includes 40 different specialty sandwiches, overwhelming to even choose, but for my first trip to New Deal Fruit, I knew I had to go with the Top Shelf: 3 slices of every Italian meat in the deli case. Plus chopped tomatoes, pickles, and onions lathered with oil, vinegar, and seasonings. The size is pretty large and you can get at least two meals out of it. They slice all the meats fresh so expect a bit of a wait, especially around lunch time or the weekends when everyone is looking to get subs. When it was my turn to order my sandwiches I knew one for sure that I wanted and then I wanted to try an Italian, but I wasn't sure which one to get (there feels like 1 million choices) to get so I asked the gentleman behind the counter to make me one that he would like, and he went for it the sandwiches were humongous. The produce was super interesting as well as the dry pasta choices! I left with Spaghettio shaped pasta to make it home and a little Guanciale to make an amatriciana sauce. They had fresh figs at the front counter. I got those on my way out as well as a big meaty local tomato. Gentleman that worked there offered to open the door to my car to help me pack up personally it was one of the better experiences I've had since coming back to the East Coast . More than just a deli. The sandwiches are a hit. It was busy when we went but they are super fast. Everyone is friendly and courteous. The owner is a super nice also. We got our sandwiches and headed home. Took a bite and I was sold. When in the area this has to be a stop. I came prepared as they have som many selections. The ratio of bread to meat was awesome. Holy moly I may come back to this place for just the dry pasta! But next time I will try a sub! The line was so long, they must be fantastic! We were staying nearby here and just happened upon the store. We ended up buying a bunch of dry pasta, Spumoni, and other treats. All of the staff were so friendly asking if we needed help, making recommendations. Parking lot is right in the front with enough room to turn around kind of on the sidewalk area so you don't have to back up into the busy road. read more

I have been coming here for over 40 years!!! First, I came as a newlywed and newcomer to Revere. I watched our money, so enjoyed the quality and less expensive fruit and vegetables. With an Italian mother in law, I also sought out the high quality grated cheeses and cold cuts. The subs were/are delicious and made a quick lunch or dinner. Happy to say, the quality of everything (oooops! I almost didn't mention the imported Italian specialty items being fantastic too!) is still a great savings and impeccable! A friend of mine will only get meatball subs from here, and another likes the brand of milk that New Deal has. This is the "Revere" secret that the residents can no longer keep a secret. New Deal is the place to get a sub and everyone knows it. I got there early on Monday and still had a decent wait but I didn't mind. The staff is friendly and funny. They've got plenty of options, but you've got time to make up your mind before you get to the counter. Don't get to the counter without knowing what you want. You'll be appropriately reproached. New Deal has a great produce section and interesting groceries as well, so you can browse while you wait. I got the Marco Polo, which is chicken cutlet with provolone and broccoli rabe. Well known popular Italian sub and grocery store. I do have to have to critique on several things that I have experienced. I find the chicken cutlets in some of the subs are too thick . Their sauce is a bit on the bitter side. The last sub I ordered the bread was tough on the outside and soaked on the inside .I had to take the bread off of the sub. The order was called in may have been overlooked left in a steamer or microwave. For the record I am very particular and this is my personal opinion ! read more

I dont give many places 5 Stars, but New Deal deserves 6!!! Have known it was there for years & years, but was out recently with Mom and she randomly said "Hey lets get a sub from New Deal" and at first glance the deli is CHAOS... Im literally eating Broccoli Rabe as I write this review. The menu is large (and again this section of review is for the Deli) there are little signs all around with signature sandwiches but for the most part they can make almost any sub you want! Just know, THEY ARE HUGE - Im talking 3 people to eat some of the bigger ones! Everything is sliced Fresh as you order it, all the hot foods are prepared right away, not just sitting around waiting to be subbed (yes, its a word). Get the Top Shelf with Everything, And NEVER ask for Mayo - Ugh, who are those people?! I have started getting a few of my subs deconstructed as by the time I get home the Broccoli Rabe has literally soaked my subs so easier to get in a bowl & then buy extra rolls and still feeds me 3 times. But yes, the Chicken Vittoria is my go to, Or the Andretti (Have I mentioned I love that Rabe) I even know now I can get it in a side & just eat it alone! I agree with the reviewers the owner would. have a gold mine of a place to frequent if he upped his game behind the deli counter. I have only bought a sub there once because the lines have been way to long and the guys behind the counter act like they don't want to be there. They have no customer service. I miss having a nice italian market near me and there really aren't many options any more especially since covid. The produce is old and not fresh. I do buy the bread and some of the speciality items like Pannetone or italian condiments that I can't find. Prices vary from reasonable to expensive. I go there on occassion but would spend more time there if they improved . read more

We brought our sandwiches to a park only a 12 minute drive away, Mary O'Malley State Park in Chelsea (no entrance fee). Had a great picnic on the river and had a lot of picnic tables to choose from.
