Our server Ashlee was so nice and helpful. Loved her! Texas rice trio with shrimp, chicken, & steak was good, only 3 shrimp in it. Peppers in the rice were barely cooked and there were a lot of them. I love raw peppers but not in a dish where the other veggies are tender. Not a fan! Nachos were so full of queso, the chips were soggy. Typical Mexican restaurant vibe. This restaurant is a great bang for your buck. My husband and I both enjoyed our dishes. I had the fried, shredded chicken burritos and they were fantastic. My husband has the steak and shrimp tacos. I really cant get enough of this place. I'ts tucked in the Food Lion shopping center right off of Ladson rd. From the outside, it doesn't really look like much. Walking in, the décor is a little festive, similar to a lot of other Mexican restaurants. Christmas lights hung along the bar year round with corona advertisement strung about. They have amazing happy hour which is probably one of the longest I've ever seen from 4-8pm. A couple of the drink specials during this time is $12 margarita pitchers and $2.50 tequila shots The menu is a little overwhelming with pages on pages of options. This is another thing that is pretty consistent with most Mexican restaurants. The food is where they really stand apart. After spending a few years in Arizona, I have had my fair share of Mexican food. Jalapenos is the closest thing to authentic I have found in all of the Carolinas. Their pollo chimi's are as close to perfection as food can get. The chicken is perfectly seasoned. The tortilla perfectly fried. If you like spicy, make sure you get the house hot sauce on the side to kick it up a notch. read more

Let me just say I love Mexican food. But had the worst experience here today. I ordered an ACP without onions with a coke. (By the way, they weren't busy), anyway server brought me a tea, sorry but I said coke. Then came to me 5 minutes later and asked "you said no onions right? Yes ". About 5 minutes later brought me my food that you can tell had been trying to get the onions out that they put in. And they missed a ton. Never came back to check on me, never refilled my drink then brought me the check. $15 and some change. I put a $20 bill down and the server NEVER CAME BACK. She just to it on that that was her tip. I just ate lunch at the Ladson location 11-20-23 1:15. My coworker and I eat lunch here at least once a week for the past 4 years. Normally everything is great. However not today!!! 1st the waiter got my order wrong, I said no problem it'll be fine, I'll just eat it. Then when it came time to pay, our waiter had rang us up for dinner portions. We specially stated Lunch - my coworker actually pointed to the item she wanted on the lunch menu. Our waiter was unavailble, so we showed the error to a different waiter, she said hang on let me call him, she came back to the table and said he didnt answer. Then she asked "did you tell him you got dinner portions?" We said no because we didnt know it was dinner portions until you brought out the bill, not to mention I didnt even get what I ordered how on earth would I have known. She said "Sorry" and just stood there. I said Whatever just ring us up. Well as we were leaving our waiter appeared so I told him of ANOTHER mistake he made. El Jalapeno's in Ladson is a great place for Mexican. Their food is delicious and flavorful and well prepared. Each time I have been here the food has been fantastic. I've been to all the Mexican restaurants around Summerville and this is my favorite. They have free chips and salsa, which is a must. The menu is crazy long. I like going in at lunch and just sticking with the shorter lunch menu. Most lunch menu items are under $6 which is pretty cool. This is my new favorite go to for Mexican food. A lot of the Mexican places around all seem the same to me...from the vibe to the food. There's something about this place that just seems different and for the better. They have a nice bar along with plentiful seating and roomy booths. The food is awesome. It always comes out quick and the quality is superb. They have some good specials too. The margaritas come in a variety of sizes but let's be honest, the large is where it's at. They are so good. Rude and Unaccommodating We had dinner here with three adults and our 2 kids. We ordered all our entrees at the same time, and the kids meals (two corn dogs and fries and one taco for the kids). Our food was delivered before they told us they were out of corn dogs and wanted to know what else we would have in place of it. The fries and taco wasn't delivered so we had the choice to wait while their second order was being made and our food get cold, or eat in front of the kids. Neither of which was acceptable considering the timing of everything. The guy in the green shirt kept insisting it was "just a corn dog" no need for us to be angry that it didn't come out. He said we could eat what was in front of us or we could leave and that was that. Obviously this didn't go over well with my fiance, and we asked to speak to the manager- only to realize the "guy in the green shirt" WAS the manager. He refused to give us his name, the server refused to give us his name, and he kept insisting that what the girls ordered didnt matter, and that we should just leave or accept that we were being treated unfairly. Neither myself nor my fiance ate our food because we were trying to get to the bottom of the treatment. We are both F&B and wasn't sure why we were being talked to this way, and why nothing was brought out for the girls when only one part of their meal was unavailable. In the end, we paid for our beverages and the appetizer. On the way out I asked the gentleman what the issue was regarding him giving us his name because as an AGM myself, if I've done something wrong, maybe it'll be a learning experience going forward, and if I've done NOTHING wrong, then I'm more than happy to give my name. He informed me he had called the police and i should leave. I will never step back in this restaurant again. Im not stupid enough to believe that will matter to the owners, but perhaps it will matter to someone else. Be ware, the food is delicious but the treatment is not worth the hassle. read more

I dont know why this place has so many stars. Unfortunately our experience was terrible. It was cinco de mayo. El Jalapenos had a 10 to 20 minute wait, which was way shorter than the 45 minute to an hour wait at our usual place. Plus they were very close to the house, so if we had too much salsa we could walk home. First impressions were a little worrying, the hostess was barely audible when calling out names and would skip over customers, even when other customers told her they were waiting at the bar. Fortunately we were close enough to hear our party's name and catch a table. Our table was great, and our server seemed nice, brought us water, and quickly took our drink order. I ordered a margarona because hey why not. He told me it was too busy to serve them, and he would get yelled at if he made me one. I though, that was a little weird but okay, thats fair Ill just have a beer, and we'll do a round of shots. So we are looking over the menu, and we realized it was busy, so we thought wed just get some churros or something. Nothing too complicated right? Well our server comes and asks us if we want any food, and I order the churros. He looks me dead in the eye and says "You seriously want me to make you dessert right now?" As if I was the worst person in the world. I was livid. I kept my cool though, apologized for the inconvenience and said we would be sticking with drinks. The server then asks "So you dont want any food then?" To which I replied. "Well sir I tried." If there is a restriction on the menu, please dont give us a full menu. Its very discouraging for someone to tell you 4 pieces of fried bread is impossible when the next table over is getting full plates of fajitas. They messed up a drink order by adding way too much salt. It must have somehow got in the whole glass instead of being just on the rim. They refused to refund my money. They said "we don't remove drinks off the bill even if it's incorrect" Everyone at the table tried it and said it's not drinkable. There was no empathy or anything, from waitress or manager. Would not recommend. Wasted $10 on something I could not drink. Horrible. Even more horrible, they insisted on no refund even with the glass still full. read more

I usually don't do these types of Mexican restaurants because I am from California and this just isn't Mexican food. BUT I will say from what I have had thus far food wise it isn't bad, definitely fresh and a huge menu to choose from. The chips and salsa are good and they give you your own salsa and bowl which is nice. The reason I am giving this place four stars is for the drinks. The happy hour is awesome and you definitely do not get cheated on alcohol. I am not big on frozen fruit margaritas but my friend really wanted strawberry so we gave it a try and it was GREAT. Super tasty and not too artificial tasting. The margarona is definitely a must have and the smaller portion is anything but small! The thing was huge and only like $8-$10. All this being said my friend and I have been back 5 times since they have been open, which isn't long. It's right by our house so we are definitely making this the new hangout. Plus all the workers are very friendly and its new so it's a clean environment. Must give this place a try if you haven't especially if you are someone who thinks LaHa or Los Reyes have good food. read more

There was no advertisement on this place just found out it was open due to living across the street from it.
