I thought the meat was kind of crunchy, and didn't have as good of flavor as the place in GC that we like going to. I was starving and just thought the flavor was just alright. Meat was kind of tough, they also slightly got the order on. My husband got the birra tacos, he said it was kind of spicy. Otherwise inside is very clean and they have an A health grading. Didn't really know what I wanted to eat, saw this place next to Piggly Wiggly on 78. Figured I would give it a try. Wow! So glad I did! I got the Texas bowl with shrimp and it is awesome! Average overall. Tacos taste like a typical Mexican restaurant. Ordered the shrimp taco and fish taco, they were was decent. The birria egg rolls were OK. I've had better consome. Seemed to be more fat at the top than flavor in the broth. The quesadilla was pretty good. I'd get that again. Mexican street corn was maybe the worst I've had, not much flavor. May have been missing that grilled flavor, because it appeared to be just a boiled ear of corn with mayo, cojita, and paprika. Fries had way too much seasoning, salt on it them. They also serve burgers and chicken wings. Service was pleasant! Nice, calm atmosphere. Great music. Loved the plethora of cactus plants! Prices weren't terribly high. Will try again soon. read more

It just feels fun in here. The staff was nice and helpful with an infectious soundtrack playing on the speakers that kept our spirits up while we ate. We ordered the usual Birria and we tried the Cali burrito. The Cali burrito is definitely my new favorite. Filled with chicken, steak and shrimp, every bite was delicious. Don't blink you might miss it! Nestled in right next door to Nigel's Good Food in Ladson sits Jonny's Red Tacos. This humble eatery is cranking out some bombastic Mexican food that will leave you coming back for more. I am a big fan of birria and after looking over their menu on the Toast web page, they don't have a website, I knew I had to give them a try. To start my wife and I ordered the small loaded fries that were anything but. They were piled high with the carne asada we ordered as our meat topping. The asada was nice and tender and went well with the Pico de Gallo, crema and queso fresca. If you top that with either their red or green sauces, made in house, you have a tasty starter. My wife ordered the triple threat quesadilla which came with steak, chicken and chorizo and of course a generous amount of cheese. The tortilla was done like a birria taco which really added to the flavor. She absolutely loved it and said it was one of the best and that she could not wait to have it again. Now you know I had to order the Birria Deluxe which came with two birria tacos, a small birria quesadilla, a small birria burrito and a cob of their street corn. The birria meat was so tender it just melts in your mouth and the consume was nice and spicy and tangy, the perfect dipping sauce. The portions are super generous, and the supposed small burrito was not that small. The street corn however blew me away. Sweet, cheesy, buttery with notes of lime and spice in every bite. I would go here just for the corn! As a side my wife got the birria eggroll which was crispy and stuffed full of birria. Top that off with the most impressive selection of Jarritos sodas I have ever seen this place is a winner. We can't complain about a single thing here as it all was delicious! So I got chicken tenders it was supposed to come with slaw, toast, ranch, and "burger sauce". I asked for no slaw. I got no slaw no toast no ranch. The chicken looked good and looked seasoned but it wasn't I've had better chicken tenders at McDonald's. The cashier looked absolutely miserable. She looked like she didn't want to be there at all and didn't care who knew it. We went at 1pm. At the time no one was there but us and they were out of queso and almost everything we wanted to try. There was food from who knows what on our table, trash by the drink machine. Over all I wouldn't recommend personally. My husband got Burria tacos and he said they were decent.
