The food here was great. I got the steak fajitas and they were done really well. The steak was seasoned perfectly and was nice and crispy. The veggies were cooked well and not raw like I've had at other restaurants. The corn tortillas tasted like they might be house made and fresh. I also appreciated the salsa bar. The restaurant itself was clean and well decorated. However, the women's bathroom had a bottle of soap that was 95% water and didn't leave my hands feeling very clean. The hand dryer was also unplugged and there were no hand towels. What really brings my review down is the service. The service was definitely subpar. Our waitress was also the bartender and paid more attention to the people at the bar than our table. She didn't check on us throughout our meal, and only refilled my water once when she brought our food out. When we were done, we didn't know if they'd bring a bill to us or if we were suppose to go to the front desk, as she never said anything to us. Every single staff in the restaurant was on their personal phones, leaving the restaurant to take personal calls, and fraternizing more than working. We also witnessed several food safety violations including our waitress sticking her hands in her pants in the back to tuck her shirt, and another waitress playing with her hair excessively, all without washing their hands before interacting with customers again. While good food, I don't know that I'll go back given the experience we had with the staff. I really question cleanliness when behaviors like that are happening in front of customers. read more

This place has some solid Mexican food. A huge plus for me is the salsa bar that allow you to perfectly top your tacos or take your dish to the next level. I ordered the California super burrito with chicken and it was pretty tasty. The burrito was jam packed with flavor, I added a little bit of the chipotle salsa and it was delicious. I also ordered a couple Al pastor tacos and after adding a little onion, cilantro, salsa and lime... it was perfection. The corn tacos felt and tasted like they were home made which is another huge plus. The only negative about our experience was the service. Our waitress was totally absent and only came to check on us once during our meal. We both sat there with empty drinks and it was the only downside to an otherwise great experience. Another weird thing, the staff were trying to get a specific song to play and kept skipping songs for like 5 minutes straight. As a Hispanic (Guatemala) who grew up on authentic food and usually avoids chains, I was blown away--this place is the real deal! Everything was delicious. I completely cleaned my tray (photo attached) and could've kept eating if I had room. Taqueria Jalisco is a fantastic option for a Mexican meal if you are in the Franklin, Tennessee area. Walking in. I was warmly greeted and I grabbed a booth. They brought me chips and salsa, which was a great start to my lunch. I went with three tacos, an asada taco, a chorizo taco, and a carnitas taco. The food came out pretty quick and my friendly server pointed me towards the salsa bar. A salsa bar is always a great thing. A salsa bar is something that when I die, God will be giving me a tour of Heaven and say, "oh, by the way, there is Heaven's salsa bar." This salsa bar did not disappoint. The inside is nothing fancy, but I have always maintained that the best Mexican food is found in these humble, hole-in-the-wall, mom-and-pop type places. The restaurant definitely had that vibe and had a good overall feel and I did appreciate the lucha libre, Mexican wrestling stuff around the restaurant. I would definitely recommend Jalisco Taqueria. It is a great option and since it is in a shopping plaza, parking should not be an issue. I will give here five stars overall and that five star rating is definitely well deserved. read more

Consistently great street tacos at this place! Had the Al Pastor & Carnitas and neither was greasy and very flavorful! Plus they are pretty filled tacos! Really superior food in a small shopping center across from a major grocery store (parking is not an issue). Really a diverse customer base, from contractors to suits. Enchiladas are top notch as are the huevos con chorizo. And the salsa bar is spot on, lots of flavor there. The service was good, and the food had potential. Everything needed salt. The pastor was really sweet. The buche and lengua were missing salt. The salsa bar was cool. The falso had no heat which was surprising. The salsa that came with the chips was mostly canned tomato flavor, and the guacamole was just the chopped ingredients and not combined. That would have been fine, but again needed salt to land the flavor.. A little more care in the execution would go a long way. read more

We only live 2.5 miles away and in our 22 years here, ate at this restaurant for the very first time. Once we entered, there were a lot of customers and there was lively music playing. The bar was full and everyone was laughing and having fun. My wife whispered to me that their food must be really authentic as everyone was here. It did not disappoint as the food was delicious. I had the fish tacos and never had it with grilled fish. The ones I had tried were always fried and had their batter. Although I liked the fried fish tacos, Jalisco's is more my favorite. Kudos to the chefs. My wife commented that their rice was very good, too, as she was never a fan of the rice in the other Mexican restaurants in Franklin. We liked it so much that we came back a few days later to try something else on the menu. I had the chimichanga and it was also very good and not greasy. My next trip I will try the pork chops. This was my first time ordering from here and it was a Waste of money, they need to update their website. On the website the fish tacos were $11.99. When I got there I paid $20. Sure sign that it's a favorite in town when you see lots of local Hispanics piling in the restaurant... It's obvious they prefer this eatery over others in town to get the "real" taste of their home country... I have to admit, it's a winner in my book... The menu is different than other Mexican restaurant menus, the food is fresh and large in quantity, and the service is great... They did have a salsa bar with much tastier salsa. Ordered the fajitas Jalisco. Fajitas had little seasoning and did not come with much meat. Outstanding. Best guac I've had IN MY LIFE. I had the shrimp burrito and it was fresh, tasty and MASSIVE in size. The refried beans had an excellent flavor. I ate as much as I could (and then some) because it was too good to stop. My partner had the pork burrito and that, too, was perfection. Service was very good. Tried this place Sunday for something new. It was terrible, unfortunately. The staff was kind and friendly. I visited the bathroom first and I killed a roach on the floor, so that was the start. My husband ordered torta and it actually had a hot dog inside of it. He asked what was in it before he ordered, and hot dog was not mentioned. I ordered a dish I never heard of with chicken and Avacado. It was good, but the chicken wasn't seasoned at all. We only ate a few bites, and paid and left. Sadly, we won't be back. read more

I ordered 2 different ones and both came with eggs and pico which both were ordered without. Love the tacos and the ability to customize here! Started our meal with mediocre chips and salsa - thin, kind of watery, without much flavor. But as soon as the tacos came, all was redeemed. I really enjoyed the salsa bar and thought the salsas offered there were significantly better than the table salsa. I would love some jalapeños on the bar too, that would be a great add. I used Jalisco Taqueria a couple of days ago to cater an event for some of my doctors in Franklin. They did a great job. Everyone loved the food: steak and chicken fajitas with all of the sides. It was great that they were able to deliver to my location. I truly appreciated all of there help, care for detail, and excellent service. I will definitely be using them again, but next time I'm going to get them to do their taco bar...I hear that the taco bar is one of the best things they do. Check these guys out. read more

3.25 Everyone deserves a second chance, so on the strong recommendation of a friend I decided to give Jalisco another taste test. Not too much has changed in terms of decor. It's still a plain and simple, down-home restaurant...(maybe visualize your favorite cafe in Mexico or even the southwest US.) The interior may have been painted since our last visit (2014) but whether new or old, the walls and booths show some wear. Acoustics remain the same in this small noisy interior - still 2 TVs, one showing Latin Music Videos, the other sports. Closed Captioning would still help even if only on one of the TVs. Still Very Good: Very friendly, very congenial, polite and attentive service. The wait staff and (manager or owner) checked on us several times during our stay. And the prices are still very reasonable. Two buck tacos are ok with me anytime. So...(again on the recommendation of the friend who eats lunch here several times a week) we decided to order tacos. After all this is Jalisco Taqueria. This visit the complementary tortilla chips came fresh and slightly warm. The salsa was fine, nothing notable, but certainly was a welcome start as we waited for out lunch. BTW, lunch arrived very quickly. (On the downside: bottle of hot sauce sitting on the table was nearly empty and had a crusted over top...pretty disgusting.) Street tacos is the best descriptor for our lunch. And I use that term with great affection, having lived in Latin America several years. These were simple and straightforward street eats. The fish tacos were made with surprisingly flavorful and nicely seasoned tilapia (not my fave fish, but this was pretty darn good.) Toppings were simple: a bit of pico and two slices of avocado...meh. (check out the photo) The TT - Tongue Taco. Still probably the best reminder of days when I had these for lunch weekly -- tender and flavorful, slightly earthy, and with the tiniest bit of a "tooth" or "chew." Carnitas were sweet this time around -- perhaps new seasonings; of course pork is a sweet meat, so there you go. Today I also had Suadero. It was smooth and not grainy like most muscle meat. This was a new treat for me. (The manager told me it was like "pecho" or chest meat...but that's not what I found out after some research.) Definition of suadero: a thin cut of beef from the intermediate part of the cow between the belly and the leg. No biggie...but know what you're serving, please. Yes, I'd order it again. (My photo shows the very thin meat and very tender skin.) Other than the fish, the tacos are served naked...no toppings, no garnish, no nuttin' honey. BUT wait ... there's more. There IS a taco bar with fresh toppings in a corner near the kitchen. Top 'em to your heart's content. (Not revealed to me during our first visit. Be sure to go there.) We accompanied our casual lunch with a cold cerveza Victoria. That and a fistful of taco took me back to more halcyon days of my youth. And, if you want a simple and flavorful quick lunch, you might just check out Jalisco as well. Their stars are multiplying in my eyes. read more
