We placed an order for pick up. I ordered fajitas with ribeye which cost $22.99. When I opened the plate the meat was old and cold with a lot of fat. Very disappointing. The fajitas were all onions and no vegetables. I tried calling the manager and the girl told me he was busy and hung up. Never going back and sure wish I could get my money back. read more

Pleasantly surprised on our first visit to Casa Jose! Staff was nice and it was during dinner time and not too busy. Place was well organized and clean. Chips were good and so was their salsa (not watery) - we also asked for their spicy salsa and it was good. Our kiddo was happy with his food choice and we opted for Molcajete and a la carte cheese enchilada. The Molcajete was fantastic and so happy to see nopales in it with Mexican cheese. Very generous portion that fed two of us. Also preferred their corn tortilla vs flour here. The beans that came with it on the side were great too! The enchilada was good and liked their sauce. You just need to eat that first, since it gets cold quickly. All in all a good experience and will go back again. read more

Good, not great. Very small portions on every dish our table of 5 ordered. They brought a 1/4 filled bowl of salsa for our table. We had to beg for more. The food portions were small compared to other Mexican restaurants. The taste was good, except for one meal was very bland. The chips are thick if you like that kind. The restaurant is a little crowded feeling and not super clean. Staff were not overly excited to be there, but we didn't have to wait long for our food. They do have a lot of booths and that's a nice positive. read more

Went here for lunch today with some friends. Ordered our drinks, and I swear it would've been the only time I had one if we didn't yell to get the attention of the server across the restaurant asking for refills. Now, usually I understand if it's busy, servers tend to not be able to keep up with slightly bigger parties, but we were the only people in the restaurant at the time. Then, on top of the terrible service and only getting one refill, I thought the server was making things right by not including the drink on my check. But unfortunately, he came back to the table and asked to switch receipts because he forgot to add my drink. Ended up paying $21 for a chicken and rice plate, a drink, and a queso split amongst me and 4 other friends ( the drink being $3 of that). The food overall wasn't terrible. I really enjoyed the rice and the chips and salsa. The entire restaurant also had a good vibe, with them playing lively music and football games on the TVs. And to top off this entire experience, when I got home I told my brother about my experience, and he said he previously had gotten food poisoning along with 2 other friends here. Now, luckily he did reach out and they comped his meal, but overall I would recommend choosing a better Mexican restaurant to eat at. read more

As you are reading this review, keep in mind it is written by a native Texan that has eaten a plethora of Tex-Mex in Texas. I limit the Mexican food I eat outside of Texas because it simply is hard to find good Tex-Mex outside of the Lone Star State. In addition, this review is based upon our visit in May 2023. It is our first and only time here (so far). After reading several varied reviews, it seems Casa Jose is under new management. I would suggest you read current reviews if you are trying to decide if you should visit Casa Jose. With that being said, please keep reading. We decided to try Casa Jose simply because it is located close to our daughters apartment in Franklin. I gave it 4 stars simply because I could not give it 3.5 stars. In my opinion, it is more of a 3.5 star restaurant. First, it really is a cross between Tex-Mex and authentic Mexican food. I personally think it leans a little more to the authentic side of things. However, it's pretty good. The menu is rather wordy and has a ton of selections. One could visit here more than a few times before having to repeat a dish. The salsa was fresh and really good. If you like a spicer salsa, ask for it. They have one that they don't normally serve to "gringos" according to our server (he said it with a grin) and we really liked it. It was definitely on the spicier side of things. The entrees were fresh and served hot. The tortillas don't seem to be made in-house. They seemed to be fresh but mass produced. The food was good enough that I would come back to get my Mexican food fix when I am in Franklin, TN. Bottom line - Decent Mexican food that is a cross between Tex-Mex and authentic Mexican food. Local place with good service and a large menu. Margaritas are great, but the food is just meh. We aren't big fans of the white cheese sauce (that seems to be the thing here in Franklin and surrounding cities) and they cover everything in it even when asked about if the nachos were shredded cheese. I know we will be back to continue to explore the menu (and the drink list) as is very conveniently located to us and we do like to support small business. read more

We enjoy the food but have a bone to pick with the manager Jose. We get the regular margarita and enjoy it but for some reason this particular night it was watered down and terrible. With so much ice after a few sips and being all water it basically looked finished. Jose the manager demanded our waiter to charge us full price for it cause we finished the drink in their eyes. We had lunch here today and it was good. Husband had the Molcajete Special for $15.99 that was served in a huge bowl. He only ate half and brought home the rest. It consisted of grilled steak, sautéed with onions, tomatoes and poblano pepper, topped with with ranchero sauce. Garnished with cambray onions, cactus leaf and slice of chihuahua cheese and served with whole beans and tortillas on the side. I had the Burrito Real with ground beef for $7.99. The food was tasteless I tried 2x first taco salad had to return. Then manager had to di damage control kept insisting and very persistent to try fajita bowl and i did. When I refuse my taco salad manager was insisting i still have to pay for my meal that j did not like. This is why he was so persistent i try fajita bowl. Since he was trying so hard to do damage control i caved and tried fajita bowl. No impressed it was still tasteless! Super thin meat mostly rice small amounts of beans. I travel all across the US and this has been the worst experience I've had. Follow your instincts if the 1st try is not good don't try again! Stopped in this place recently not knowing it had changed ownership. It's interesting how certain locations tend to gravitate towards an identity crisis of sorts to me. Casa Jose had no wait on a Thursday night, in fact it was quiet other than maybe 5 other parties. Seated promptly, place was clean. Weird to us they seated us at a booth immediately opposite a shelving storage unit cluttered full of extension cords, cleaning supplies and what not... when basically the whole place was empty. Whatever. Chips were fine, not a new favorite or anything, but fine. Queso was also on par - nothing bad, nothing exceptional. We shared ribeye fajitas - had never seen that before. It was pretty much a steak cut thicker than the norm, heavy on the veggies. If you like tomatoes and bell peppers in your fajitas, you'll like it here. The fajitas were pricey, as one would expect for ribeye fajitas. So while everything else was average, we'd probably go back. Cheese dip, 2 iced teas, and the one fajita order was $35 - don't remember the specifics now. read more

Tried out this place for the first time, and was impressed. The salsa was smoky with a tiny kick, the queso was really good, the place looked clean, and they seemed to have safety measures in place with Covid. I had the Burrito Verde, and it was really good. The best authentic Mexican in Franklin. We have been searching for what seems like an eternity! We rejoiced when we finally found Casa Jose! The margaritas we tried were the best we have tried after our standby Mexican, La Terraza, closed. I ate the Carne Asada and the husband tried the Enchiladas. We grab an order of 3 steak, carnitas and chicken tacos for our babysitter (my mom). All were delicious. Chips & salsa were yummy, bountiful and free!! We received great service from our waiter, Mr. Juan. Even the owner stopped by to say hello. In summary, great dining experience! read more

Ok I really wanted to love this place since it's so close to home. I was feeling super lazy last weekend, so we decided to eat here instead of making dinner. I'm comparing this place to your standard casual Mexican restaurant, not Saint Anejo. For starters, it's now named Casa Jose. I always get really excited to eat tons of chips and salsa when I go out for Mexican food. The salsa here was not so great, so that was a real bummer. I ordered the pollo charro, and the boyfriend opted for the pollo con queso. First of all I know it's Franklin, but both of the entrees were $11.50, which is a little steep IMO for the casualness of the restaurant. I was looking forward to my entree of grilled chicken with cheese, grilled onions and mushrooms, but this was a disappointment. The cheese and juice of the chicken combined to make an unappealing liquid covering the bottom of the plate. The onions were barely grilled. The entree was overall forgettable. My boyfriend's chicken was a little better but very oily. I really wanted to like this place since it's close to home and family owned, but I do not think we will be back. read more
