Been a Jam & Relish regular for the better part of five years now, but have stayed away during the pandemic because of the risk. My stash of jams was all used up, and I just couldn't imagine a Christmas without my family's favorites for breakfast -- so I visited this week and was so glad I did! VERY impressed with the strides they've taken to make their customers feel safe and cared for. The samples are gone, and they removed some of the displays to make it easier to browse while still maintaining a responsible distance from others. They installed plexiglass between check out lines and at the registers, and they're only using every other register to again increase distance between customers. So I was not only able to get my family's Christmas favorites -- strawberry rhubarb and cherry jams and apple butter for our morning toast -- but also a few treats and stocking stuffers for my extended family. They'll be enjoying jars of Kickin Pickles, bottles of local honey, Pepper Jam (classic!), 6-mini-jar sample jam pack, and whoopie pies. My mom has to watch her sugars, so i got her the low sugar raspberry preserves as a treat. And my dad's favorite is marmalade -- there's an orange marmalade muffin recipe on the JRK website I use every year that he absolutely loves. Been here before during the prepandemic, lots of relishes, jams, sauces, beets, and even a bakery! One can get lost trying the samples here as others mentioned. Went here on Monday May 22nd 2023 with my family on our recent lancaster trip. Located in Kitchen Kettle Village, The Jam and Relish Kitchen has tons of things to choose from! From Strawberry Jelly to Cherry Jam, there are lots of choices here. We brought 6 different types of Jams to try to bring home. We also brought Harded Beets, as well as pickled beets. At the sample stand, my dad and i tried the pinapple salsa, as well as some type of relish which was good. Now if one wants to try something, there is a stand to go up to, and you can tell the person what you want to try. We also purchased the pinapple salsa and the relish. We also brought cookies from the bakery, where i had chocolate chocolate chip cookie, my mom got a chocolate chip, and my dad got the same thing. They all were nice and soft and delicious. Paid with the cashier, who was very nice, and also offered a box to hold our stuff in. Will be back next time we are at lancaster! read more

This place is super busy and for good reason. Everything I sampled was really tasty (salsa, pickles, relish, and cookies). If I could have, I would have walked out with more jars of goodies, but there is a weight limit on my baggage. I look forward to trying all my goodies at home and ordering more online. The Jam & Relish Kitchen at Kitchen Kettle Village features so many delicious varieties of homemade jams and jellies. They have tons of baked goods, including homemade Shoo-Fly pie and Whoopi Pies which smell so sweet and heavenly! I love all of the canning and jamming going on here! There are loads of free samples of all the jams, jellies, pickles and pickled veggies. The strawberry and seedless blackberry jam, the pepper relish and pepper jam and the perfect pickles are all very popular. Jam & Relish Kitchen is one of my favorite stores in the Kitchen Kettle Village. This place is quite overwhelming with their crazy amount of selection in jams, preserves, jellies, relish, pickles, dips, salsas, marinara sauces, etc.! Besides offering such a plethora of items, they literally have samples of every one of their products. If you're curious about something, don't be shy in asking one of the members - they'll be more than happy to let you have a taste! Instead of breads/crackers, they use their GF Tortilla Chips (one of the best tortilla chips I've had! So crispy and perfectly salted!). Not only can you see the staff here actually preserving some of their items on the premise, they also carry other brands as well. I fell in love with a Robert Rothschild Buffalo Bleu Cheese Dip - this was amazingggggggggggg, and great with the tortilla chips (and probably will be great as a sandwich spread, with veggies, and/or chips). The store's spicy marinara sauce was pretty good, too, and would be great for spaghetti. The place is kept clean, as floors and counters are constantly being broomed up/wiped down. I purchased $18.85 worth of jams, pickles, and relishes. Wow. They had almost all of them open for sampling. I tasted almost everything prior to purchasing it. Some of those bins looked like petri dishes breeding cold and flu cultures and kids were running up dipping their grimy little fingers in and getting pickles and old people were double dipping their chips into the salsas or relishes but whenever I saw one of the staff opening a new container, I would make a bee line to her and be the first to try the fresh stuff. Minus the little grimy fingers. Minus the elderly double dip. And I was perfectly happy with that modus operandum. Fresh to death. That is me in the "public sample" scenario. And I am so glad I did. I love my ginger peach jam and cherry jelly and pickled beets even more knowing that the ones I tasted fresh from the container in store taste exactly like the ones I purchase for home consumption. First off this place is the height of tourist trap stupidity. Paying out the nose for stuff that with a little time and effort you can do at home for a whole lot less in terms of cost while getting a whole lot more in terms of flavor is not my idea of a good time or a sane use of my dollars. I will split this place down the middle with three stars but that really has nothing to do with the quality or flavor of anything they sell here because that part is mostly crap. This past Wednesday the lovely wife and I were here for the first time in a good ten or eleven years. She wanted to examine the overpriced knitting store that's close by so to kill time I wandered into Jam & Relish. I first tried a few of their salsa varieties. Bland & Boring The hot ones were not that hot and the fruit ones really lacked any flavor. The pineapple salsa wasn't that bad but it wasn't good enough to overspend on it. Finally since the lovely wife had done a fair amount of jam making this summer/fall I thought I would compare their peach to her peach and let's just say I won't insult her again by straying from anything she made. I truly wanted to like this stuff and I truly was going to buy some of it but every flavor was underwhelming in some way or other. Maybe it's because they mass produce their stuff and something gets lost in that process or maybe there were just too many flavors being mixed around in the sample jars from everybody who was double dipping and holy cow, was everybody double dipping. Now if you were crazy enough to read this far you must be saying what's the good part to redeem this place to a three star worthy review since right now we're obviously laying in one star territory. About a minute after the lovely wife joined me she noticed a child around the age of four or five that was left unattended near the jam tasting area. The little girl had taken out the plastic knife from one jar and was dipping it into jar after jar but not before shoving the knife into her mouth to eat the jam. Gross and cross contamination to the highest degree!!! The lovely wife discreetly informed a member of the staff who got a manager and within three minutes all of the jar samples on the table were promptly discarded. The little girl's grandma was an idiot for not watching her but the staff handled the situation perfectly. So to summarize, while I think their stuff isn't very tasty or affordable the staff certainly cares and kudos on their handling of a very disgusting situation. read more

Ok so I've been here when I was 8 but I don't remember much. When I came back now I didn't feel different as in I don't remember what it looked like I don't even know why I said that. So basically they have multiple varieties of jams, jellies, butters, salsas and pickles. They have jars of their products out with oyster crackers for tasting. My favorite is mint jelly which is actually one of their cheaper products being only $3.29 for being how good it is. I recommend it with lamb or crackers. They also have a small bakery near the registers where you can buy small pies and other pastries along with sweets. read more

Kitchen Kettle Village is totally touristy, but I have to admit that the Jam and Relish Kitchen (the Canning Kitchen) was fun to visit. They have all sorts of jams, dips, salsas, pickles, etc., for you to sample. Some are quite tasty, others are okay. Some products seem rather pricey. read more

They have gift sets that are to the tune of $20, single purchases are $5 up and they also have a very limited sampler sets. Every station has taste testers but the major con is the foot traffic through the store. The kitchen has daily specials that change regularly. Go in with patience and it'll be a whole lot less painful. The line went super quick since they have so many cashiers. My personal favorite was the mango salsa but I bought an apple butter for the house chef aka the fiance'. He makes it and I finance it :) read more

They also have samples of things like pickles, beets and flavored butters. you can watch the Amish girls making whatever flavor they are making that day, but you are not allowed to take pictures.
