High Efficiency washers are $4.50 and $2.75 for large and small respectively. the top-load machines are gross and shake like hell. I stopped using them when I found cigarette butts inside. I've never had anything but pleasant interaction with the staff. the owner can be seen sporadically on weekends with a key and large canvas sack to collect his coins, but I've never seen him make repairs. This is evidenced by the fact that half of the driers are "Out of Order" at any given time. read more

First: It's a family owned laundromat. This in itself makes me happy. Secondly, the wife and husband who run it are very nice. I was on a time crunch and had to run in with my small, well-behaved dogs (that I'm aware not everyone will love as much as I do) to drop off my clothes. She didn't mind. I'm not saying it's OK to bring your dogs--but I appreciate not having been met with disgust or rudeness. Third, she made it apparent that she COULD have my clothes done by the next day even though it would be difficult. I understood. Luckily, I didn't need them for two days--she was relieved. They seemed slammed. Fourth, their price is great. It's $1.00 per pound. My clothes weighed 18 lbs, yet my bill only came to $15 even. Not sure how, but I took it, and it was a nice surprise. Fifth, if decide to do your own clothes, it's a happening area. Whole Foods is right around the corner. Do a little shopping if WF is your thing while you wait for your clothes to wash or dry. Sixth, my clothes look great. I swear they're brighter somehow (it's summer, and I get gross...I mean, "active," a lot). I opted for low heat dry and no drier sheets. They smell SO good--subtle, sweet, and the scent doesn't make me sneeze. This is nice because my office has a no-scent policy so this is my "neener neener" work-around. :~) All in all, this is a great place--I'm hooked. The money it would have taken me to do it myself, plus the time I would spend sitting around versus doing other errands or spending quality time with my dogs makes every penny worth it--not that there were many pennies spent in the first place. 3.5 but whatevs. The one thing I seriously hate about my apartment is the lack of a washer/dryer. But luckily this place is right around the corner and you can usually find me here about once a week. I try to hit it up right before last wash (8:30 pm) because there aren't many people around. This way I can do my thing and fold my panties without worrying about some creepster lurking. The biggest mistake I've ever made was coming her on a sunday. Shit. Show. Save yourself and don't do it. It may literally drive you to kill someone. The washer/dryer ratio is off and it left me waiting forever to switch my stuff over. It took me almost 4 hours to do 3 loads. Ugh! You live, you learn. They also offer the service of washing your clothes for you. But I don't want anyones dirty mitts on my unmentionables. read more

It may seem like I give out 5-star reviews like drug-laced candy to children... but fact is, I've been very impressed with all of the businesses of JP so far. I dropped off my close to a friendly employee and she explained basically how it worked. She said my clothes would be ready in less than 2 hours. .85 cents a lbs for drop off.... it was 12 bucks for my 15 pounds of laundry (nearly a month's worth!). It came back well folded and nice and clean, ready to go as promised. Yay for clean underwear! Now I can stop stealing my female roomate's underwear! oh wait.... bummer. damn. read more

I'll give an enthusiastic 4 stars, because this is the most civilized laundromat option within a short drive from my apartment in the Forest Hills neighborhood. You can feel free to interpret 'civilized' as you will but let me share a few observations from other local laundromats, that I have not witnessed at JP Laundry Centre: -babies being changed on the laundry folding tables -families having full on picnics inside while doing laundry -ATMs that dispense 20's and change machines that will not take 20's and no cashiers to assist Overall, this place works for me. The machines are in good working order. There is a coffee spot and a Whole Foods and a number of bars right across the street. There is usually on-street parking within a very short walk (helps to have a resident permit sticker). There are Tv's and they will change the channel if you ask. The attendants are actually there, and helpful. And most importantly, I am not absolutely horrified and disgusted when I do my laundry here. read more

They've got TWO change machines, a bathroom while you wait (that's a major plus), a TV, benches, magazines, and seriously everytime I'm there, I see someone cute. super super nice guy owns/runs the place, I'm not even particularly chatty but he always greets me. Tonight my boyfriend and I were short 75 cents for a machine and he totally just gave us the extra quarters. the machines are never broken, the place is always clean, there's always machines available. The washers are 5.25 for the biggest, which is usually the ones we use, 4.25, 3.25, and 2.25. not too bad, that's what Laundromax charges for theirs. The dryers are 25 cents for 8 minutes. support local business!! read more

Have to say I'm super disappointed the hours weren't updated on Google--the first place my boyfriend and I check for hours of operation. Wanted to come by on my way to work, and now I find myself waiting 40 minutes because Google and the business card we have list 7am open time. And in the winter, the benches are removed. But, at least I can tap into Whole Foods Wifi and my dirty laundry makes a comfortable enough seat. Why am I not just heading on into work? Well I've got at least 20 lbs of laundry and I don't drive. And 1/2 mile seems a hell of a lot longer to drop it at home before setting out again to go to work. And there's another reason my rating dropped--while frustrating about the discrepancy on opening times, my rating of this place has gone down mostly due to service. I used to be able to get laundry done in a day, two at most. My boyfriend has dropped off the last few times and it's been 3-4 days. Not cool. I'm not picky--we get a no frills wash and dry and try to be considerate of their busy times by not dropping off then. It makes me miss the fabulous place I went to in Malden all the more. So yes, they are okay, but with almost a year of using this place for wash n fold, the service has gone down and the little things have added up. Edit// and it's now past 8am, their posted opening time on the door and guess what--no one around, closed as can be. Annoyed and frustrated doesn't even come close to it. Guess I'll be lugging my laundry down the street where I can at least get a coffee next door. Hanging outside when it's under 30* is not my idea of a good time. read more

I dropped off my laundry at about 1pm on a Saturday, hoping that I was gonna be able to pick it up before they closed that day. But he told me to come back at 5pm the next day. It turned out to be 37.4 lbs of laundry, so I wasn't tripping. What I appreciate is how good they were with condensing my load (it fit into 2 bags instead of the 4 I brought) and how organized my clothes were!. He also rounded down, so I only paid $37. If I were still living in Boston, this would definitely be my go-to place (even though I hate driving through JP). A month's worth of laundry taken care of within a day. Thank you so much! read more

This place is amazing. After trying 3 different drop-off places in JP, we've now found "the one"! Unlike the others, we got back exactly what we dropped off (without extras), knew when it would be ready, and knew what we would pay for it. The trifecta, if you will. The guy we dropped off our stuff with was polite, friendly, and helpful. He even helped us price out the cost of our (many) bags. Same day service for no extra charge! This is my usual go-to laundromat as it's the closest. I agree with another reviewer in that even when it's seemingly not crowded the location feels crowded. More than that though, the disproportionate dryer to washer ratio makes me a little antsy. I don't like having to wheel around my wet laundry waiting and waiting for a dryer to open up. That being said, I do like that their machines seem to be newer and that the place is clean. I haven't used the drop-off service here, and I probably won't after reading Cera's review, but that's OK as I'm trying to do my own laundry "in these times." read more

Once again, the machines worked great but the owner gave me a hard time when all I needed to do was use the dryer. The dryer in my apartment building broke on me mid cycle and I had to carry a very large, heavy load of wet clothing down the street. Luckily the clothing was already half dry so it only needed 1 cycle, but I had to convince him to let me use just the dryer because the clothing was already clean. I'm sure people have lied to him in the past but he just reached into my bag and pulled out half my clothing to make sure they weren't too wet. It was a little awkward to have him go through my clothing without asking, but I also didnt exactly understand how half dry clothing could be an issue when completely soaked clothing from the wash is fine. was already tired from bringing the clothing up the street and all I wanted was to be in and out as fast as possible. This laundromat just re-opened a few months ago. They have brand-new machines and the place is really, really clean. It's a block from my house, which is really convenient, but I would come here over some other local spots even if I didn't live so close. The owner is so nice - when my boyfriend and I ran out of detergent, he went to the back and brought us some. And today, he gave us a few quarters for the dryer when he saw we were digging in our pockets frantically for change. I can't speak too much about prices because I haven't had to do laundry in all too many places - my old apartment had a machine in the basement. However, I think they are comparable - the huge 4-load machines are about $5, the small ones $2.50 or so, and 25 cents buys you 15 minutes for the dryer. read more

I have been doing laundry at laundromats almost my entire life. This place has easily the worst customer service. I understand that dryers are for those who wash, but power was out in my building following a wash, so I went and asked the woman if I could use the dryer. I was yelled at for even asking, despite the fact that it was 11A on a Thursday with only one other patron. Needless to say I will never go here for any laundry needs and suggest you do the same. I got there today at 1:45 and the attendant said they were closed. Just last week, I was telling a coworker about how much I love my laundromat, how awesome they are. And then, this last Saturday I pick up my laundry and when putting it away, realize I'm missing every single pair of pants I dropped off. I called Sunday morning and was told to call back on Monday and talk to the woman who'd be in then, she was the one who was actually responsible for my load. Monday comes, I call and am told she'll look around for my pants and call me back. Hours later, I haven't heard, so I called again only to be told she couldn't find them and I need to call back AGAIN in about an hour to talk to someone else. So I call again, only to be told they don't know where they are (still), but they called the other people who had laundry in on the same day to see if it got mixed in, and they're waiting to hear back from them, and they'll call when they do. Over a day later I haven't heard (big shocker!) and intend to go in tomorrow and insist on speaking to the owner about reimbursement for the pants I've had to replace. Basically, their customer service is fucking terrible, they don't seem to give a shit that they lost my clothes (the reaction I got was a "huh? That's odd..."), and I've been given the runaround. And on top of everything else, I have to go pants shopping. What. The. Fuck. Edit: I called again on Wednesday (a full 5 days after dropping off my clothes) and was told that my pants were found. They didn't bother to call me to tell me this. I had to call them to find out. I asked the woman on the phone what they were going to do to make up for the fact that I had to buy new pants while I waited for them to fix their mistake, she told me nothing, then hung up on me. The bitch hung up on me. Customer service? NONE. So I went in to pick up the clothes, and talked to someone else purporting to be the owner (get your fucking story straight, guys) and he told me they'd do the next load free while the crazy bitch who hung up on me is puling a Jerry Springer in the background and chiming in with her two cents. I told the guy there was no fucking way I'd ever bring clothes back for them to lose on me again, so I got no resolution. Do not EVER use this place. I'm reporting it to the Better Business Bureau and anywhere else I can for their shoddy practices, then finding a new laundromat. read more

Do not go here. I went here not that long ago and dropped off my laundry including a large winter coat. I returned and there was no coat. When I asked about it, the owner/worker literally swore at me and told me to leave the laundromat and never come back. I won't. I don't recommend this place on anyone. Never got that jacket either. Now my dryer stop working and all my laundry was washed. Came to dry clothes and owner stated No!! Wash here dry here !new policy. I like this place even though it can be a bit crowded at times. It is kept clean, the double, triple and jumbo load washers are cheaper then the Green Elm Laundry further down Centre St (#546) or the place I've tried in Brookline Village (just up Washington St a little). There is always at least one attendant around to help if needed. There is HOT water (unlike Green Elm which only has cold water but doesn't tell the customers that). Sometimes I run over to the Hi-Lo to grab some fruit or into one of the nearby restaurants for some takeout--good choices abound. Shortcomings--is crowded for space even when not many customers. But that seems to be the way most city laundrys are (with the exception of that Brookline Village place which is very spread out but costs more and isn't in JP). read more

I'm not sure why anyone would give this less than 5 stars. The proprietors and their helpers are super friendly and have, on varying occasions, told me about their families, offered me Greek snacks, given me restaurant recommendations, and asked all the other patrons if they had found my lost Smartwool sock (when in fact I had left it at home). The place is always spotless, and they are constantly sweeping and wiping down the machines. There are many, many machines and carts and I've never had an issue getting either. Further, they are conveniently located across from a coffee shop and a Whole Foods. So many errands can be accomplished simultaneously! It is a leeeeetle bit pricey ($4.25 for a three-load washer. Or maybe that is normal?) but I can't imagine using any of the other laundry facilities in the area. This place wins every time. read more

This place is amazing. Family-operated by a really lovely family, has same-day laundry service, almost always open. The per-pound price is $0.90 I believe, which is the cheapest I have seen in town, and they do a great job with the wash dry and fold (no shrinking). They'll even work on a stain if you show it to them. I cannot recommend more highly. read more

Despite the clearly-posted closing time of 10pm, you're lucky to squeak under the lowered grate around 9 since no one seems to want to work until 10 here, ever. I walked in last week to find my fiance getting screamed at by the outrageously ornery attendant for picking up at 9:15. She said the rules were that you can't leave laundry unattended - when we asked where they were so we could familiarize ourselves, she said she is the owner, she makes them up. She said she doesn't know us, then she said we do 'this' all the time. She just wanted to yell at someone. After a series of contradictory exchanges with her that made me feel like I was talking to the Cheshire cat, she then yelled at us to take our things and never come back. I felt like Larry David, exasperated and confused. I'll be gladly spending my quarters elsewhere. read more

The owner made me very uncomfortable when I was getting quarters. I had just done some shopping and got money from the store for quarters. I didn't have my laundry on me yet of course, but I live one street down from the laundromat and wanted to get quarters first -- it didn't occur to me how much of an issue it would be become until the owner approached me and snatched the money from my hands. I realize he wouldn't have done that if I had my laundry WITH me, but he didn't believe me when I told him I was coming back. I was genuinely coming back, but he was determined that I wasn't, and it made me very uncomfortable that he distrusted me and that he took the money from my hand and wouldn't give it back to me -- he put it into the machine himself and wouldn't even give me the chance to take my money back (since he didn't believe me anyway). I had no choice but to take the quarters since he forced the money into the machine himself, angrily at that. It was as if he was patronizing me out of anger. It was embarrassing. There were others around. I felt too uncomfortable, and I let him know that I wasn't going to come back because I felt uncomfortable. His approach made me too uncomfortable to even return with my laundry because it embarrassed me so much. I don't want to go back there anymore -- I'll be going to the mat on the other side of Centre St. If he had gently approached me and said "Sorry, you cannot do that without your laundry," I would have obliged, but he was extremely aggressive by taking the money from my hand and putting it into the machine -- I don't think he realized that he caused me NOT to come back because of his rude behavior, not because I was trying to trick him. I attempted to call to complain, and I believe it was him who picked up the phone. I tried to explain that I was making a complaint, but he didn't understand me. When he finally realized what I was trying to do, he started ranting at me, and would not let me speak, so I never fully got to confront him. He then asked if I could give my number to him to give to his wife so she could call me, that which I did not feel comfortable doing. When he asked "Can I have your number?" I said "No" and then he hung up on me. read more

I'm not from JP but I have been spending a lot of time here lately...having used public laundry for close to 20 years, this is actually the best place I've ever been to...not as cheap as some places, but the machines are all card operated, clean and free of "out of order" signs at all times, and in optimum working condition...with regards to cost, when you load a certain amount of money onto your card, they give you 10 percent bonus...all this, and they have FREE WI-FI!!!...oh, and the staff and owner are some of the nicest people I know. read more
