Solid option for jerk food! The staff is friendly and the food is tasty. The jerk salad is always a generous serving. A little heavy on the onion but good overall! Next time we'll order extra jerk sauce on the side! The Oxtails aren't terrible, yet not my favorite. It seems as if they don't sell out of the bulk, you'll get yesterdays left overs. I'd like to try them super fresh/just made. I'm appreciative that they have a large option of sides! Looking forward to exploring more of their menu. read more

Absolutely NOT! Don't waste your money! I read the comments and decided to still give them a chance. I wish I didn't. We didn't even eat this. A complete waste of money. I also ordered a beef Pattie and it was soft as if they reheated it or got it out the freezer section. read more

I order from here the other day. I had the oxtails OMG I was so disappointed they were so tough even the little pieces. The flavor was on point but I couldn't even chew it. The bread was rock hard I MEAN HARD. I know when they picked the slice up to put on the plate they could feel how hard it was. A complete waste of $35. To the cook maybe just maybe you should taste/check for tenderness. Because if this is what you guys are putting out then I completely understand the 3star rating. read more

Extremely good! Is you want some really good jerk chicken and some amazing of tails come to this spot! I used grub hub and Jamaican jerk king delivered like 40 mins ahead of schedule kudos to them because I was getting hungry and the Astro game was just about to start. Good: oxtails were so tender and full of flavor. Amazing stuff! The jerk chicken was just as good. If I had to chose between the two that would be hard Choice. So dam good!! The jerk chicken had so much flavor! The Mac and cheese was full of flavor as well. I really enjoyed the red beans and rice. Maybe add some sausage In there. The yams were good too. It was my first time and there will be many more times. Ordered food for delivery, it was still warm. Chicken was excellent great flavor,and it was juicy. Rice and bean were good and the Mac and cheese. The side jerk sauce is great, a little spicy for those with low tolerance, but very flavorful. Visiting Chicago. The chicken was really really good! I mean amazing flavor! The rice and beans had good taste. The cabbage had a weird color; It was yellow. The woman ringing us up at the window had a nasty attitude! It's bad customer service to take your frustration out on people who are paying to eat there. We did nothing wrong. She also rang me up for more sauces than I asked. The attitude of the worker is why I rated a 3 read more

Stop at McDonald's across the street afterwards, I hear the salads are back. Because this is not good and VERY SALTY. The cabbage was extremely salty with hard carrots. The oxtails were tough and the plantains were hard and dry. I ordered several meals. The mixed chicken was good, passable but this does not taste like any Jamaican I've EVER had or experienced, or ever want to experience again. I spent over $60 to be disappointed. Nothing Jamaican about it, including the staff on duty at the time. Yuck! read more

Visiting Chicago and decided to eat some jerk chicken with the family. The lady answering the phone and accepting orders had a bad attitude. We asked if they had plantain on the phone, her response was "no we don't that's why I didn't mention it". Like why did you have to be sassy? Came in to pick up the orders and she still had a bad attitude, the macaroni looked dry and I guess she was busy so her attitude showed. Food looked good; she didn't have her mask fully on either or gloves. Bad customer service all around and not what I expected. Hopefully the food taste good cuz it looked good read more

I can't give you guys a bad score because I don't like to knock on local business, but I will be honest about the food. Ok, where do I start? This is not Jamaican food. " prove me wrong" I ordered the Jerk Chicken and stew chicken dinner platter. The stew chicken- #1)big pieces of meat and the entire drum stick which are usually cut up into smaller pieces but they decided to throw the whole thing in the pot. #2) it's salty and rubbery, not brown stew chicken. #3) cabbage and other vegetables are extremely salty. The jerk chicken- I don't want to write more because I hear my ancestors crying. To the business owner I apologize for being so blunt, but Is not Jamaican food. The only saving grace attribute I can give to Jerk king is the fact that the jerk sauce has an almost perfect balance. Other than that I can't name many good things. Most if not all of the side items are served buffet warm tray style causing the yams to be "dry" as well as the cabbage being flavorless. My original thought was to try their jerk shrimp tacos however they didn't have the ingredients or at least that's what I assumed. The "jerk shrimp" entree was freshly prepared which was nice but also weird because my sides weren't. It it a hefty amount of food however it's not cheap at almost $20 for a dinner with no beverage. There's plenty of free street parking out front & even an atm machine inside despite them having a card payment option. read more

Great food done the right way! They don't water anything down or take shortcuts with their preparation. You can find places who tone things down to cater to the local taste, not here though. The jerk chicken dinner was amazing, one of the best I've had. Lot of flavor and the chicken was very juicy. They have a lot of options for meat here. Loved the hot sauce they offer too. They have a nice selection of sides as well, I had the green beans and chopped greens which were both delicious. Worth a stop if you're in the area. read more

I went out on a whim to order delivery from GrubHub from here... knowing GrubHub is usually slow and the food ends up being cold by the time it gets to you. Today, I was pleasantly surprised with both! I ordered the Jamaican jerk catfish and was hoping it wasn't soggy by the time I received it, but it was delicious! The lady basically stole my money I ordered of Uber eats she waited until the driver got to the restaurant to call to say she don't have what I ordered. Knowing uber eats wasn't going to refund if I cancelled. She told me to cancel order. Instead of going ahead and canceling the order. She claimed it's because I don't have the updated app which makes no sense. I don't appreciate being robbed. 28$ for nothing at all. read more

A great place close by with good food. Ordered the jerk lunch regular. Came with a leg, thigh, rice and beans. For my two sides I got cabbage (soft and flavorful with carrots and celery) and corn (not on the cob). Chicken was juicy and jerk sauce was sweet and spicy. Cashier was super nice. Wait time was 25 minutes, I came in 30 and my food was ready. Will come again for a close by decent jerk spot and may try some more sides. Total was 8.68. The food tasted pretty good. I personally didn't grow up eating catfish, but from what I could tell, the flavor was pretty good. The service was nice and quick, and the food came out pretty fast. I had a $14 jerk catfish dinner meal with macaroni and cheese and cabbage. It came with a bed of rice and beans and a side of bread with some nice vinaigrette sauce. The peppers on the catfish were delicious I had a top of a hot pepper which burned my tongue, but thanks to my $2 Jamaican pineapple drink, I was all good. There was a cozy atmosphere with a little bit of bbq smoke in the air, but everything was tasty. The surrounding neighborhood was a little far from the train stop, but easy enough to find on 35th street. Had a pleasant lunch. read more

I don't like to totally bash local businesses but this food always some of the worst Jerk chicken I've had. The chicken wasn't thoroughly cooked some pieces were pinkish. The sides were ok. I've never seen a yam so brightly colored. The cabbage was tough. I ordered a jerk chicken white lunch special and it was almost $14 and for that price I expected some quality. I know for a fact I won't be going back I'll just stick to what I know which is Jamaican gates. And if you're looking for quality jerk chicken this isn't the place. read more

As friendly as the staff were, I have to be honest. The food was NOT good at all, to the point that I wonder about the people that left 4/5 star reviews. The macaroni and cheese had a weird taste and look. Probably the worst I've ever had. I'm actually concerned for anyone that eats that more than once. The rice and peas were dry and flavorless. The only saving grace was the rasta pasta and jerk. Hate to say it but I doubt I'll ever go back...Three stars for the friendly staff, rasta pasta, and jerk. read more

Drove out from the suburbs since I heard people raving about this place. It's hard finding good flavorful jerk chicken, but I have to say, this place nailed it! By far the the best jerk chicken I've ever had! The chicken was full of flavor and cooked to perfection! The sauce was spot on, has a little kick to it. Rice was really good too. I've never been in the actual restaurant, but I did recently order from them. It took over an hour, but it was fine since that's what was estimated before I put the order in. The food was a little cold, but was very good. We ordered the beef turnovers, rice, plantains, 1/4 chicken, and mac and cheese. I would order all these items again. The food is really filling, so if you're ordering for a couple, the best route would be to order a main dish (chicken) with small sides instead of doing the individual dinners. It was around $30 for us and we had a ton left over. A small warning, get your Pepto ready the next day because the food is HEAVY and there's no avoiding heartburn with this. read more

This was the worst oxtail plate I've ever had in my life. I don't mind a little fat, but the amount on these oxtails was ridiculous. The cabbage was nothing but huge stalk pieces. And the macaroni and cheese smh...I don't even have the words. It was SO bad. The plate wasn't even edible. I can't speak on the customer service, because I ordered for delivery, but it was the worst $25 dollars I have ever spent. read more

I have been going here for years and they are still my favorite jerk place in Chicago and suburbs. The seasoning is perfect, it's spicy and hot but not too hot. The side dishes have so much flavor. Also, if you want Desert they have wonderful cakes that you can purchase by the slice and banana pudding; plus great drinks like ginger beer. Visited this place 3xs! 1st visit was good nice people, good service and great food. 2nd visit good food awful service and the 3rd visit was early when they first opened and not busy, ordered 2 whole jerk chickens got my order home checked the container barley one whole chicken and when I was handed my order it was clearly stated to me this is your 2 whole, this was not a mistake they intentionally shorted us. so please check your order before leaving, they are clearly trying to get over on people. This place is horrible. Customer service is a flat 0. The food prep girl berated the so-called supervisor the entire time I was there. She called him b***hes and fa**ots, while he smiled like a clown. Then the ignorant chick, who was rude from the moment I walked in the door all of a sudden said she refused to make my food. No reason, no excuse... just flat out refused, the boss....did nothing the entire time, I'm supposed to get a refund as I ordered online, we shall see, but don't spend a dime with these people.
