I spent $46 and received 3 oxtails, a salad with a dead bug in it, a white jerk dinner with a boat load of rice and some bland cabbage and 2 pcs of unsolicited plantain. I've got a story to tell.....WANNA HEAR IT? Okay...so my office (which is downtown) would make a large group order from JR's like once a month. It was the payday treat. Generally without any major issue. This past Friday, we made our order per usual...but the order wasn't correct. JR had to come back to our site, but I was out of the office so they didn't realize that I had never received my food. No worries...we call and speak with the owner and his daughter to explain. They apologize (they knew they messed it up), but said their driver was out for the day and did not know when they would return. Once again, no worries....they promised to deliver my order AND provide a refund for the purchase. I appreciate customer service so, no harm no foul. Our office contact even promises to make additional orders so that we can maintain our relationship. Monday rolls around, and no sign of JR. Office contact calls and is told that they are unable to deliver today due to a health inspector visit (troubling, but hey....I guess it happens)...but they will DEFINITELY make the trip tomorrow with my order that was missed, and with the extra items we planned to order. Now it's Tuesday. I get the message that JR is coming to deliver about 11:30am. I clear my schedule to make SURE I'm here. About 12:15p...the delivery person shows up with the extra items we ordered, but no sign of my order at all. To be fair, they did provide a refund for my purchase, but now I'm scrambling for a meal when I had my mouth set for Jerk. Sad part is, this was my neighborhood restaurant. I lived a block away for a few years and would often make the trip for lunch/dinner. I WANTED them to succeed...was willing to wait them out...I feel like I've been nothing but accommodating. Mistakes happen...I'm not trying to be THAT guy. But professional promises are just that, and that is the standard I will hold you to. Now, not only have you lost my business...but you've lost the business of my office. We tried calling, we go to voicemail. Texts to the daughter aren't replied. So, in a nutshell, I can't support the business. There are plenty of jerk places in Chicago (My fave is Daddy O's on Cottage). Find another one and let JR's management figure out how to operate a customer friendly establishment. Maybe a few less dollars in the till will help. read more

Sooooo, I was hungry. After I ate a Chicago Connection parfait and had food poisoning, I swore this place off. But I'm not going to lie, this place is a super close to my home & they now sell jerk chicken tacos and burgers & I was hungry. I ordered 2 jerk tacos & jerk burger with fries. The burger was okay. It tasted like a bad frozen patty. But the tacos, the tacos were on point. I think I ordered these tacos the next 3 days in a row. When I lifted the ban, my hubby got the oxtails. He said there wasn't enough meat, but that's always the case getting oxtails at a restaurant.
