Came here a while back based on the reviews I thought it might be worth a try since I was craving some Jamaican food. I ended up passing the place before finally finding it. I had to ring a doorbell and was told that there was no indoor dining. Instead I had to come around and order there. So I walked over and in the end I ordered the jerk chicken. For the price it seemed a bit more pricey that I expected. When I took the meal back to the hotel to eat. The very first thing noticed was that the chicken still had hair on it. Pulled in for the first time after a Facebook article, was definitely open to trying. We ended up sitting in restaurant. Quick service and food came out very quickly as well. The lady was very friendly and unfortunately they were out of a lot of menu options, the chef had also stepped out to pick up more supplies. The drinks were mostly canned drinks. There were flys all over the establishment which was kind of disappointing. Other than that the food was a great portion, the rice and veggies were seasoned well. The main protein on both plates were delicious, be cautious of the bones in both. They are included and weren't mentioned. The plates do have a mild spice level so be aware if you share with children I'd recommend them getting their own plate. Other than that great for the valley to experience, not sure if I'd go back again because Houston has better options but definitely a decent spot for something very limited in the RGV. read more

First off if you going to find this restaurant you must believe your GPS. Secondly good luck finding the door. Now that being said the food was very good. I had the oxtail, my friend had the chicken in brown sauce and our wives both had the jerk chicken. All the entrees were served with cabbage and rice with peas. The food is spicy but not overpowering. You can taste the components of the sauces snd they are delicious. On the night we were there they were unable to serve the whole menu due to supply issues. That's just another chance to go back. FYI they told us that if you want the fish you should call and order ahead of time as it can take up to an hour The service was fabulous. The food here was delicious. Jerk chicken and curry chicken with rice and peas and some steamed cabbage on the side. The service was quick, casual and friendly. The ambiance of the restaurant is very casual, small operation, family run. There's family in the kitchen, in the front, coming in and out. About $15-$20 per person for lunch but hey, I don't see anyone else doing Jamaican food around here and definitely not as good as this spot. Looking forward to my next visit. read more

The mac and cheese looks (and tasted) like the stove top, box made kind with the cheese sauce packet. That they melted another type of cheese on it once it was done. And it wasn't even fresh! Everyone in the RGV needs to try this place. The food is fantastic. We ordered the jerk chicken plate and the curry chicken plate. Both were so incredibly tasty. The service is fantastic, and the family owners are very kind. You can order take away or dine in. There's plenty of space. I'll definitely come back. read more

Additionally, I would like to add how impressed we were with the staff. Since this was our first time there, they were very accommodating and patient with us since we did not know what to order. They made us feel very welcome and gave us excellent suggestions from the menu. The prices are very affordable and we did not spend very much money considering how much food we received. The oxtail portion was small for what I paid, order a large. Additionally it was bland and missing allot to be Jamaican food. Suace was off, missing allot. However the jerk pork was really good and on point. Plantain well done. Come on Jerk shop get your game up. read more

Really liked the food. I probably would have never tried this place based on its location and my lack of familiarity with Jamaican food. But recently was on a cruise that stopped in Jamaica and thought the food was pretty good. So we have this place a try and I personally really liked it. My wife thought it was spicy, but she thinks anything more than salt and pepper is spicy so don't take her word for it unless you are the same way. I tried the curry chicken and honestly it was delicious. It was a little spicy and the spice did build as I ate, but it wasn't over the top. My wife had the jerk chicken and I thought it was delicious. The rice and beans were good. Even the steamed vegetables were good. We ordered a side of plantains and they were perfectly caramelized. You can dine in, but mostly people carry out, which is what I will probably do next time. So try something new and give this place a shot. read more

Surprised and delighted to find great Jamaican food in south Texas, go figure! I was definitely apprehensive about giving it a try since we've had horrible Jamaican food all over Texas (Austin, Dallas, Houston) in search of some authentic food to satisfy our cravings for food from our beloved go to restaurants back home in Brooklyn. The lady working was so nice and welcoming. She took the time to get to know my family a little even though she was busy with phone and takeout orders. I had oxtail and my husband had jerk chicken. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly, even the veggies. She offered mac and cheese for my toddler (even though I didn't see it on the menu) and she enjoyed it.
