My husband and I have eaten here several times over the last few months and up until this past Sunday it had been a delight. #1: the music is too loud, it's a restaurant, not a club. I asked "what" about 4 times to the lady taking my order bec I didn't hear her clearly over the music. The customers in front of us leaned in to place their order and hear the lady as well. That's an indicator that the music is too loud. #2: I ordered brown stew chicken with gravy, now maybe she couldn't hear me (even though I spoke extra loud bec of the music) because when I got my food, it was jerk chicken with jerk gravy. I know how brown stew chicken looks but I took a bite bec maybe the recipe changed or there was a new cook ‍. But taking that bite let me know it was indeed jerk chicken, I don't do spicy. I took it up to the front, telling the lady I ordered brown stew chicken but was given jerk and she told me I had the right thing. Then when I said it's never been spicy like this before, she told me it was bec they'd given me a pepper, picked it out & tossed it. NEWSFLASH!! THATS BEC THEY GAVE ME JERK INSTEAD OF BROWN STEW!! *Note: The pepper was in the small part of the tray with a corner of the food, meanwhile the main part is what has my mouth scorching. She insisted it was brown stew. I took it back to our table and had my husband look at & smell it and he assured me that I wasn't crazy, bec he always gets jerk (but he got Rasta Pasta this time); jerk chicken and brown stew chicken doesn't look, smell nor taste the same, never has. I just ate my plantains, coco bread, cabbage and what I could of the chicken & rice (most of the latter 2 went into the trash). I was disappointed and annoyed then and even now, just thinking about it. To me, dismissing my concerns when you can clearly see it's not what I ordered is bad customer service. Plus I hadn't eaten enough off of the plate for some kind of adjustment to not at least be offered/made. We had very high hopes for this place. We'd run into a vendor originally from Jamaica and asked him what his go-to places were for authentic food and specifically oxtails. This place was the top of his list, largely for the jerk chicken. He pulled it up on his phone and showed it to us. I was excited by the recommendation because I recognized the place immediately on sight, as we are often in the same plaza for other reasons. We went in fully expecting to love it...and had the exact opposite experience. The restaurant is clean and well-lit. That's where the positive experience ends. I left my family in the car (as the children were sleeping) and went in to get food to go. The woman on the cash register was rude without provocation--my attempt to place my order was interrupted with short, snippy responses; an annoyed tone; and no eye contact. I'd studied the menu and began my order: Me: I'd like a small brown stewed red snapper, and... Her: No smalls. Only large. Me: *trying to catch her eye to see if she's joking* [I look back and forth between her and the menu behind her a few times, fully expecting her to crack a smile. She doesn't, so I study the menu again where is clearly has pricing for small and large plates listed for all items] Still me: ooookay, I'd also like an oxtail dinner. Her (to lady making plates): large red snapper and large oxtail Her (to me, still not looking at me): *gives my total* Me: *still trying unsuccessfully to catch her eye* so is there a reason there are no smalls today? Are you out of the containers, or is there something else going on? Her: *still not looking at me* no smalls ever on the seafood. It only comes in large. Me: [looking back at the menu attempting to understand] do the other dinners come in both small and large? Her: *affirms that they do* Me: why does the menu have both small and large listed for the seafood? Her: *still not looking at me* it's old, needs to be updated. Me: okay, what are my side options? Her: it comes with cabbage Me: can I swap out the cabbage on one of the plates? I'd like yams with the oxtail Her: *still not looking at me* we don't have yams. Only cabbage. Woman making the plates: *walks over to speak wi the me and looks at me* we have Mac and cheese. I can put that on but it's an extra charge I declined the Mac and cheese, accepted all the explanations, and pay for my food. I'm quoted a 15 minute wait, which felt accurate to the amount of time I waited. We got the food home and it was literally just okay. Everything lacked seasoning. The oxtails were almost tasteless without seasoning and the only flavor on the red snapper was tomato-based sauce it was covered in. I wouldn't consider it brown stewed at all. My toddlers happily ate the plantains and the saucy veggies from my fish. The rice and peas were fine. We won't be back. read more

The restaurant was clean and the food was fresh. The lemonade was a bit sweet, but they didn't ice to decrease the sweetness of the flavor. The chicken curry was delicious, flavorful and lots of gravy. The beef patties were hot and tasty straight out of the oven and were worth the extra wait time. Went there today and got myself some Pineapple Ginger Juice, It used to have a little bit more bite to it but was still ok. Go back to the way it used to be :) Then two orders of Curry Chicken and Rice, Plantains and Cabage. The meat portion could be more but there was plenty of rice and cabage. While I was there somebody had Chicken Soup and it looked good, so I grabbed one of those too. And glad I did. That was the best Chicken soup ever! Generous portion of vegetables, very tasty. I understand that prices have gone up and there could be more meat in there for the price, but taste was not lacking overall. Service was friendly , ambiance is nice, music always good. Have been living in this area for almost 1 year and up until yesterday (9.11.22) had never tried Jamaican taste. Let me begin by saying that the first thing that I noticed when walking up to the counter is the cashier. Very unfriendly and looks like she does not want to be there.....no smile and no greeting. Plates are a bit expensive.....almost $13 for a small plate and almost $17 for a large plate. You are not asked which sides you would like on your plate, they just automatically put cabbage and plantains on there. Ordered jerk chicken. Asked for thighs and a breast instead I received a couple of chicken thighs and one drumstick. Then when we gave them back the plate thats when we were told that they didnt have any chicken breast. No apology but we were given an extra half piece of thigh. Buyer beware, the thighs are cut in half and you will not get a whole piece of chicken. They are also very stingy with the cabbage and the plantains. Flavor was pretty good, it tasted like Walkerswood, which in my opinion is the best jerk seasoning and trust me I know because I use to own a caribbean take out restaurant. I used to frequent often. Prices have almost doubled in the past 1.5 years. I usually get curry goat, which can come with rice and peas, steam, cabbage, and plantains. The last four or five times I've going to get food here they are always add a plantains. They have no other option to give you a substitute other than giving you more rice, or a half a scoop of cabbage . In addition they don't give you anything off your meal. These establishes have to realize that you need to give back to the customer when you do not or cannot offer something that is on a set menu. They have recently remodeled, and must be trying to pay for all of that with the increase prices. We just need them to give us what we pay for not all the extra fluff.. Just have plantains available. Finger Lickin Good I'm 11 yo Z and this is my first review. The oxtails, rice and peas and and the gravy were GREAT. I thought I was eating a mini T-bone steak so tender. The cabbage was good. Strawberry lemonade is going to be one of my favorites. The pineapple ginger and beef patty is one of my mom's favorites.The ginger was a little strong for me, but she seemed to love it.I enjoyed the veggie patty, not so Spicy! I visited this Jamaican spot on New Year's Eve. They had no inside dining just carry out only. They served us pretty fast even though the line was long. I ordered curry chicken with rice and cabbage I also ordered jerk shrimp pasta along with an order of jerk chicken with macaroni and cheese. The pasta was very fresh but it was packed with heat. The curry chicken was fresh and the meat on the chicken was very tender. I also ordered two Jamaican beef patty's that were phenomenal. They were 2.07 apiece I believe and they were very tasty.
