The only drawback was communication. I stopped by here after getting my nails done next door. I went inside to place my order and there were 2 people in front of me. I couldn't tell who had already ordered and who was waiting. Within 2 minutes a gentleman behind the counter called me up, asked for my order, then walked away. Then a woman behind the counter was standing near the register and asked for my order. I repeated it for her and then paid. She told me to wait outside in my car and asked where I was parked. I told her I was directly in front of the door and told her the color, make, and model of my car. As I was sitting in my car, I was able to go through an short job interview over the phone and I watched as orders were walked out to 2 other vehicles next to me. I went back inside after about waiting about 20 minutes. The woman inside immediately recognized me and said they couldn't find my car. Remember.....I said I was parked directly in front of the door now. Literally when the door opened my car was right there. But ok. I took my food and left. The food was scrumptious. I like Hilltop for their vegetarian option, their jerk tofu is spicy, but really good. I've also found that it's made to order which is great. I'm not sure if their non-vegetarian dishes are or not. I've never really paid attention to anything other than the veggies on the hot bar. Any who, the reason for the below average rating is due to my first time experience. I ordered the jerk tofu and went to the alterations shop next door thinking my food would be ready when I got back and it wasn't. In fact, maybe 20 min after I got back in there, the cashier told me the chef got my order wrong and had to make it over =\. Ok, wtv, do your thang, but then that took another 15+ min. So after I finally received my order, I'm like this should definitely be free and the cashier is hesitant. She goes to get the chef and I tell him the same thing and he says how about we go half and I'm like =\. Wtf. I should've left it in there but I was too hungry and my mouth had been set on this jerk tofu, so I agreed. The portions exceed expectations and every food item I ordered was executed masterfully. Their Lunchtime specials could very well be the best in the area. I went on June 9th and was charged for 3 curry chicken Pattie's yet I only ordered 2; I had also ordered coco bread and jerk chicken fried rice. I returned June 13th to get the Patty they owed me and I decided to order more food: an extra Patty, a lunch special, coco bread, and jerk fried rice again. When I got home and looked at the receipt, they overcharged me for everything: lunch special is advertised 7.99 but they charged me 8.27; coco bread was 2.59 last week but 2.85 the 2nd time. Fried rice was 5.18 the last time yet 6.21 the 2nd time. And I used the same credit card. I called and talked to them but the lady said it's up to the owner to make the prices. Ok I tried this restaurant finally and I gotta say it wasn't bad. I ordered the grilled salmon, rice&peas and veggies + sweet potato souffle. My grilled salmon was overcooked and the sweet potato souffle was a little too sweet plus they added way to much cinnamon to it. The rice&peas was ok and the veggies were perfect. I will return to this restaurant and order something besides the salmon. They have more variety than most Caribbean restaurants and the service is good plus this restaurant was extra clean which is always a plus. read more

But imagine...if you are a true Jamaican you know that anything that starts with but imagine is not good. This is my second time trying this place, came in with the hopes of getting a beef patty, but saw they had Stew Peas, my favorite. So I decided to try it, and try it I did. In all my 45+ years on this earth I have never tasted anything so bad. It was more like soup it was so thin. There was nothing that resembled seasoning, it was totally inedible. I must say that the service was very good, the server was very engaging and complimentary on the choices, and I hope she did not cook the food. The funny thing is there was a sign on the wall that said "COOK WANTED TO START NOW" I'm fine print it said "This is not a teaching restaurant" and now it makes sense. This was a cute little restaurant with a mom and pop feeling. I ordered curried chicken, rice and peas, and collard greens (callaloo?) The serving said no this is collard greens. Ok I still want it. I also ordered jerk wings as a side dish. My son ate the wings and said that they were good however not spicy enough for his taste. My curry chicken was good but missed the spot. First I ordered the large portion and got two heaping portions of rice and peas. They filled large section of the plate with rice and peas? Then filled the two smaller portions with the greens and curry chicken. Excuse me but I did order a large curry chicken not a large peas and rice. For the money I paid and to get only three small portions of meat and get a large portion of what I didn't want is bad customer service. Now come on you just put a huge portion of rice in the largest section and you're ok with this assignment? The flavor of the greens were not a traditional carribean flavor. I would not serve those style of greens here. They should be served for a BBQ place or chicken restaurant. The green had too much vinegar which is a killer to anyone eating carribean style food because of the differ flavors. My suggestion is to find someone who can make real callaloo and replace those out of place (chicken restaurants) greens I really think this is a great idea for a restaurant but too much rice and peas with bad tasting greens really is not make it for me. Every time i come into that store i get very mean rude stares. There's a woman there who keeps asking me to wear a mask. This has been lifted and i dont need a mask to enter. I told her this she understands but still is very cold. She wanted to then serve me as i walk out but when i looked at the dood it just didn't even look hot when i approached the counter. Food looked old. I later tried to get food again there like maybe things would be different but no still so mean looking and cold that i just simply walked in then right back out. The portions here are HUGE. I mean 2 people can definitely share one disH. The patties are great they have all flavors .. the beef and spinach are the best ! The smoothies are great and make sure you grab some natural juices to go !! The Irish mia and almond milk is my favorite! Make sure you shake them well before devouring !
