Haven't been here in a while but so glad we came back. One of my favorite restaurants in MoVal! Ordered our food over the phone when they opened at 12 pm on a Sunday but there was only 1 guy working with a long line so we told him we'd pick it up at 1 pm. Saw they hired new people which is great. Still fairly long wait but definitely worth it. Highly recommend getting the Ackee and Saltfish. The Brown Stew Chicken falls off the bone and the Jerk Chicken is a classic. Fav drink was the pineapple ginger one. Of course had to grab some Beef Patties from the Carribean Market in the same lot. I was craving oxtail and there's no soul food places in Moreno Valley! My coworker mentioned of this place to try it out. My mother and I stopped by on Saturday around 4pm and unfortunately they ran out of the 2 dishes we wanted, oxtail & curry goat. So we told the guy we'll be back first thing Sunday when they opened. And we sure did! He hooked us up! My husband is a very picky eater but he ordered the 2 meat combo of curry goat and curry chicken plate. My mom and I ordered 1 oxtail plate & 1 curry goat plate to share. Food was BOMBBB! My top favorite was the curry goat. My husband also enjoyed it. He attacked his entire plate and I was shocked for someone who's very picky. He said the curry goat took him back to our honeymoon in St. Croix where we tried curry goat for the first time. Great place... have to try at least once. The oxtail was nice and tender. The steamed veggies was great in the oxtail juice. I felt the rice and beans were a little hard (maybe under cooked) plantains were good. The homemade carrot juice tasted great and reminded me of a chai tea. When we got there they had just opened and still setting up. But was very humble and helpful since it was our first time there. First time Moreno Valley has a Jamaican restaurant so I stopped by. I first discovered the market where I got delicious curry chicken patties. They told me they had a restaurant and stopped by the next day. I opted for the curry and jerk chicken. The curry chicken was flavorful and the jerk chicken was good but a bit too spicy. The oxtails were very good and falling off the bone. Overall the food and service were great. I do feel like it was a bit on the expensive side for the portions. This review is somewhat secondhand Today, my coworker who had never had Jamaican food wanted to try so she went in to grab us lunch and of course I tell her to ask for extra gravy on the rice. She went in, asked, got told no and then offered to pay for extra. She was told "We don't have any more". My coworker is the sweetest person so she just left. She is not black or of West Indian descent so she was a little confused about why the gentleman had a rude tone with her and said she's never returning. When she got back to the office & told me about her experience, I wasn't shocked, but I felt really bad that she was treated that way. In regard to the food, in my opinion the portions are a bit small and the oxtail was not good. It tasted more like birria than traditional oxtail. I will say the few pieces we got weren't TOO fatty, but the flavor was definitely lacking. Most Caribbean/black folks know the running joke of the customer service wont be good, but the food is! This is not the case for this establishment. I rarely eat oxtail outside of my parents' or the east coast, but we wanted to support this local business & were hopeful. This will be my second time having Jamdung . Ms. Trish is always nice , the restaurant is always nice and clean , and the portions are amazing The service is quick and easy! She has inside seating the table are always clean and organized. Her homemade juices are so good,fresh, and not too sweet. If you are looking for flavorful and good portions come here! I love that she has many options to pick from . If you want oxtail and jerk chicken i suggest going early because she will run out of those two most likely. This is our 2nd time trying this place. Food is very tasty. I have tried the oxtails, goat curry, chicken curry, stewed chicken, and jerk chicken. I'm not sure if you'll be able to tell from my photos but portions are small considering the high price of the plates. My plate had only 2 oxtails and 3 very small pieces of chicken. I think people in these reviews need to understand that eating out is a luxury that comes with luxury prices especially if you want high quality food/ingredients. I was initially excited for this place to open because I've been to the one in Rancho. Unfortunately, my first experience wasn't a good one. I went on a Friday night and by the time I got there, they almost ran out of everything and I had to make do with their leftovers. The customer service was not very good either, the server was rude. Lastly, I was disappointed in the food. Their curry chicken had more little bones than usual, and there were a lot of hard pieces in the curry sauce. Food temperature on the cool end and my jerk chicken (which they always just ran out of) looked a bit old, even though it's supposed to be freshly cooked daily. Never have festival bread or beef patties (keep saying next week) and needs to pay attention to housekeeping, some dead brown bugs on the floor.
