There was always some extra work required when I would go in for an appointment. I felt like I was being scammed.

I transferred dentists as part of a move from Raleigh to Durham and based on a referral from a…read moreneighbor. Unfortunately, we did not have a good (net) experience. We are a family with fairly healthy teeth, practice regular hygiene and dental cleanings, and had no significant issues 10 months (long stretch due to Covid) prior at our prior long-term dentist--upon seeing Dr. Gaddis, multiple cavities, root canals, and others services were promoted, many of questionable need. Pros: Good location, nice office, new equipment/technology, thorough hygienists, nice staff (for the most part), good bedside manner (for the most part) Cons: 1. Wife was referred for THREE root canals, ALL of which our endodontist told us he has no idea what Dr. Gaddis was referring to. Gaddis also referred us (like all her clients) to an endodontist that has many poor reviews, which was an early red flag, and why we ended up selecting our own (that is highly reviewed). It also raises the specter of potential quid pro quo between the two practices. 2. Gaddis told me my daughter needed sealant because of her baby teeth cavities being an indicator for her proclivity to cavities. When I said my prior dentist told us baby teeth are not a good indicator for cavities in permanent teeth (because they're weaker, less enamel, etc), she said "I don't recall hearing that in school". After a quick Internet search, I confirmed it is well known amongst professionals in the field that baby teeth cavities are NOT a good indicator for the health of adult teeth, leading me to conclude Gaddis either doesn't know some fundamental facts in dentistry or is intentionally discarding what she knows to promote more services (consistent with Con #1)...either of which is not good. 3. Front office staff can be a bit edgy/dry/cold...not outright mean, but not generally warm, like our prior practice. It's not a deal-breaker on its own, but coupled with the other issues not helpful. We were really hoping that we'd found a new dental home and allowed benefit of the doubt several times, but ultimately too many red flags have pushed us back to our prior practice until we can find a better local option.

I have been seeing Dr. Gaddis since she first went into practice out of dental school. Dr. Gaddis…read moreis a very, very good dentist! Always prompt, always caring, and always great. The office and office staff are as good as I have ever seen. Dr. Gaddis recently saw me for an emergency crown. Worked me in - same day- in and out- perfect. My Father was a dentist, and He would be very proud of Dr. Gaddis' work and professionalism! If you need a dentist- look no further!

My wife and I have been going to Dr. Jenkin's office since we moved here four years ago. The main…read morebenefit for us is convenience -- within walking distance of our home. However, I have to say there have been several other conveniences, too. I've never had a wait before my appointment. The technicians are efficient, friendly, and professional. Until today, all of my appointments were just routine checkups. Today I had a filling repaired and it was painless. I'm not scared of the dentist, but I can still appreciate a gentle novocaine injection. The billing issues have all been problem-free, and we get reminder calls when appointments are coming up. The office is located among the Highgate professional offices in the parking lot across the street from where they are building the Tobacco Trail bridge extension over I-40. Dr. Jenkins' office is in the last unit in the back of the parking lot (past the UNC health center).

I have crazy bad anxiety and the thought of a dentist would literally send me into a panic attack.. sooo my dad called a place where they put you sorta under to do work and they were shutting down and they recommend us to go here. My first appointment here I was absolutely in love. I felt so welcomed coming in and when I met the Dr. Jenkins she was so kind and told me no worries we got this let's get started. She fixed me up completely. I love coming here the staff recognizes me soon I open the door. They have become like family to me and I'm so grateful we got recommended here. I 10000/10 recommend coming here if you are scared like I was. Thank you to this place for bringing back a smile I didn't think I would ever see !

In terms of experience, this was a good one for my 2 year old's first dentist appointment. She…read moretalked at length about the TV on the ceiling and it seemed that the doctor was kind and talked things through. I think she even got a couple of prizes for being a good patient. My disappointment comes from the administration at this practice. The woman at the front desk didn't know how to run insurance so my husband ended up paying out of pocket. It took 5 phone calls and 6 months to be reimbursed after the issue was overlooked and was filed with insurance incorrectly. After my initial Yelp review, they did reach out to make things right and keep our business. We went back today for my daughter's check up and it was a good experience for her and they fitted me for whitening trays for the inconvenience. It's a nice, new, clean practice with competent and caring doctors - hopefully this incident was just as they got up and running.

Avoid at all cost!!! POOR Communication, Unethical and Dishonest!…read more Instead of crowning the tooth I expected to be crowned, Dr. Austin crowned the tooth behind it. Several weeks after I complained, Dr. Austin told me that she and Dr. Don had a conversation about my treatment Plan and decided to crown the tooth behind the tooth I wanted crowned. There was never a discussion with me about another tooth needing treatment. So, what was there to discuss? Why didn't Dr. Austin tell me the day of treatment? The day of treatment, DR. Austin did not show me or discuss with me their recommendation verbally or on the X-rays. Instead, Dr. Austin asked her Dental Assistant what number tooth to work on. Had she given me consultation, I would have had the opportunity to clarify which tooth I wanted crowned. If the tooth she crowned needed crowning, I should have had the opportunity to decline treatment and choose which tooth I wanted to crown at that time. Prior to Dr. Austin crowning my tooth I did not have any cavities or pain in that tooth. So, why was it imperative for Dr. Austin and Dr. Don privately convene to crown that tooth as if it was an emergency? Dr. Austin caused nerve pain after giving me a simple filling months ago. And, she refuses to take responsibility that she caused the nerve pain and wants to send me to an oral surgeon. What? Why didn't she test the tooth prior to filling it to determine the condition of the tooth? I had no pain, cavities or decay in that tooth either! In my option, I believe her treatment gave me nerve pain.. I am not a dental professional, but I know what tooth I wanted crowned and what I was told when I saw Dr. Don and Dr. Austin. Before any procedure, consultation should have been given on the day of treatment not after treatment. Just because the Dental Assistant put the number of the tooth in my chart, does not mean she put the right number because everyone makes mistakes. Clinicals tell only a part of the story. What actually happens in the examination room and what is discussed with the Dentist is what tells the whole story. Needless to say, I will continue to follow up with my situation until it is resolved.
