This is located at the spectacularly beautiful shopping mall - one of my favourites in the country - the Alamo Quarry, where I once played at great concert. They make really nice jewelry, mostly in silver. They have one of the best assortments of charm bracelets and bangles I've ever seen with masses of charms to choose from, and Barbie can spend hours sifting through all of them and usually spends a decent chunk of money in here. She says their charms are some of the cutest she's seen. Not cheap but definitely worth a trip if you like this kind of stuff. read more

there was a time I loved James Avery, but my last two experiences have not been the best. I bought a charm bracelet about 2 years ago and have added quite a few charms (which are way over priced now). Two of my charms broke wore thin at the connection. No way should these charms wear down like that to the point of falling off. I took them in for repair and they charged me $25.00 almost half the price of the charm to fix their bad craftsmanship. Anyway, I wish I'd just taken them to a jewelry store. That's where I'll be buying my charms from now on. James Avery just isn't the quality for the price you pay anymore. read more

I've always loved and only worn James Avery jewelry but after COVID, the silver they use is very cheap quality. After COVID, I got 2 pairs of earrings, a necklace, a charm, & a ring that have all turned black after a few hours and one of the items hasn't even been used yet, it's been in a box for months but it turned black. On top of that, the earrings made my ears break out in rash and the ring left my finger with a blackish green mark. The cleaning rag doesn't even help, it just leaves the rag black. I had the ring cleaned and again after a few hours it turned black again. Yet all of my silver jewelry pre COVID up to 25+ years has stayed in perfect condition without any cleanings and I haven't had any problems with them tarnishing or giving me rash/staining. read more

I have a necklace with a butterfly pendant and a charm bracelet (complete with a puppy, hearts, a rabbit, phone, and a pineapple) from J.A. and I've bought countless gifts for family and friends from here too. One of a kind and it sometimes makes you feel as though you're part of some exclusive club when you go in there. Although, you don't always have to pay exclusive prices for their stuff (depending on what want, of course) or get an exclusive attitude from the employees! The associates have always been pretty friendly and prompt. During the holidays, J.A. can get crammed full of people but most of the time I get seen within a matter of a minute or two. If you choose to browse, the associates don't make you feel like you're pressured into doing anything - they simply leave you alone (thank goodness). I love that I can bring my jewelry in to get cleaned and polished for free anytime and depending on how busy they are, I can usually get it back the same day. They offer a wide selection of rings, charms, bracelets, and other stuff, mainly for women. Their selections have a strong Christian influence in them, with lots of cross jewelry. I came in after ordering online. They offer free shipping if you opt to pick up the item from the store instead of shipping to you. I got a graduation present for a friend, and they managed to report back to me that they got it in the next day. Fast! I came in, and they were prompt in assisting me. The item came in an attractive bag and case, which was a nice touch! The store is clean, and well lit. It's remarkable how they keep all the display cases so clean and free of fingerprints. I wouldn't say that this is the place to go if you're looking for much other than silver. They don't really specialize in gems or other metals so much. read more

This is my favorite James Avery location to go to whenever I am in need of picking up a gift for a family member or friend. They are always willing to clean your JA jewelry and give you a courtesy call once it is ready. Sometimes they will even ask if you will be around in the area for a little bit if they are able to do it the day of (if you take it in early enough). The staff here is very friendly and super helpful. I love the layout of it and how close it is to restaurants, bars, and the movie theater. The Quarry Market is a great shopping center. They helped me complete the bracelet to match my idea of what I wanted- a teacher themed bracelet with charms for each milestone in my first 10 years. I've been numerous times over the past year and eventually stopped visiting others no matter how close or convenient they are. Seems odd to review a J.A. because they are all the same, right? Wrong, this location is the best! This is normally a high traffic store and being only 2 days before Christmas, it was even more so today but an organized line and tons of extra employees made for a quick visit. They were able to attach two charms to my bracelet in less than five minutes today when a different location quoted me over 24 hours for the same service. All their stores have the same product but the service and friendliness at this location keep me coming back. read more

Oh James Avery, the jewelry shoppers delight! There is so much to love about JA! While the price tags have increased over the years thanks to the cost of metal, I still manage to purchase my mom a birthday present and Christmas present every year from here since I was 17. The quality is impeccable! The service is outstanding (sans some temporary holiday employees)! The cost is affordable (for silver)! I pretty much know the ins and outs of JA. You get on the catalog mailing list, browse online, decide what you want BEFORE entering, that way you jump in straight to the line and avoid any hassle picking out your items. Normally I get my moms presents a month in advance because 1. Her birthday is around Mothers day 2. 2nd gift revolves around Christmas, so that means delicate planning! You can give your list to the employee and they will "pull" every item they have in stock so you can peep it in person (not on paper via catalog or behind the glass cases). Sure this means more work for them to pull and restock, but that's their job! By the way, I'm talking 2-3 items not 10-12 here people! After you decide, they'll put it in a nice bag (I miss the gift wrapping! BTW!) Then you make your purchase. If you're into the charm bracelets (which we are) be sure you take your items to get soldered first thing in the morning or at least two weeks after holiday rushes. This will eliminate a 24 hour return wait which has been known to happen especially after Christmas. Pretty much if you find you're missing a JA earring or need a nice polish you can bring in your item and they will repair or replace it for you. They have a new blown glass selection and they guarantee the charm. If it ever cracks or breaks they will replace it at no cost to you. Come here often! read more

Just went here & had racist remarks thrown at me by fellow customers. The staff did nothing. I had my 3 year old with me and this lady was whispering to the the guy behind me, which by the way was on a FaceTime video call, that I had cut in front of him. I went to stand exactly on the dot the lady who helped me with my items told me to stand on to check out, never cut in front of anyone. As soon as I heard the lady talking crap about me, I ask the 20 year old guy if I had cut in front of him and he said yes so I let him get in front of me. He was still on a video call: They then decided to call me racist names again in front of my daughter. I will never come to this location again. I just spent $500 here and only because it was Christmas & I am short on time did I stay to make my purchase, but I should have left. After the woman and man making racist remarks at me left, then only did the manager ask if I wanted to speak to her about the situation. Not happy at all. Will never come to this location again. My favorite James Avery location in San Antonio for sure! I have bought all my jewelry from this one and even gifts for family and friends. The store is super clean and organized. The staff is always incredibly helpful also. Every time I walk in, I am greeted and asked How I can be helped. If you're just looking, they usually just leave you alone until you need assistance. They still do free jewelry cleaning but you have to wait until the next day to pick it up. I still love it though! Most recently when I went, the girl who helped me gave me great advice on how I can clean my jewelry at home. I told her I work where there are pools and sometimes forget about my jewelry and it gets tarnished. But she didn't hesitate to help me on how to make sure it stays in great shape at home. It must be me, but I think the jewelry quality and service for James Avery has gone down over the years while the prices have only gone up. I used to love this place and even have a charm bracelet full of only James Avery charms, but I have to say that as they got more and more popular they fell to the ways of mass production. I still love their designs and styles, but hope that the quality goes up again. As for the store, never go during the holiday season if you can avoid it, you'll be in there for hours waiting in line. read more

I went by there today because the catalog sent out for mother's day advertised buy two charms and the necklace holder free. They are out of all but one and only have an 18 inch in that. Why send out a catalog if you don't have what you're advertising in stock. The boy said it was on back order for twelve weeks at least. I also had two people come up and ask if they could help me as I was writing down the item numbers I wanted to see but when I gave them my list they told me to go get in line. If they are not going to help you why would they ask to help and not just say when you're done writing down your item numbers then get in line and the next person at the counter will actually help you. Since they were out of necklace for charms I bought no charms today and asked to see a pendant and earring matching set but they were out of the pendant too so we left empty handed. James Avery needs to do a better job with inventory if they are going to advertise these products. read more
