My son has been wanting to see Devil Wears Prada 2 and the first one is one of his favorite movies of all time. Personally, I don't like that movie but I went along with him. Tickets are $25 each and they have a $4 parking garage, but we were lucky enough to get a free after-hour meter on the street. It's a nice place and it seems like comfort is their top priority. The recliner chairs are extremely comfy and come with a blanket in case you get cold. You know how movie theaters are always chilly. Once you get settled, you can press a button that sends an employee over to take your order. It's completely optional. We got one small popcorn (light butter, $6) which was big enough for both of us. I like this idea of having the option of ordering and dining at your seat while watching a movie, but the reality is a bit different. It's kind of annoying to see the employees coming and going when someone needs a refill or places a new order during the movie. You can hear them talking and they can even block your view. It's frustrating when you are trying to focus. With that being said, I think it has more pros than cons. There are bars and bathrooms located across the several floors and the one we went to was exceptionally clean. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come back to this theatre. I prefer something more standard like AMC or Pacific Theatres (RIP!)...

I've seen some great independent movies here and really enjoyed "Influenced"on my latest visit as part of the very fun LA Jewish film festival. The big bonus was I got to meet the star of the movie, Jill Kargman, and even got her autograph and a few photos with her. That can't be beat for movie experience and another nice thing about being in LA. The popcorn was also delicious. Highly recommended especially for indie movies.

Audio and video were crisp. The staff member who checked us in was friendly and helped answer my question about the public parking lot around the corner. They don't tow after 9PM! Our movie was 7:30 and I was antsy since I only was able to pay until 9. The concession counter had the go to snacks and fresh popcorn. We ate dinner nearby at cafe Belen to support another local business. Next time we'll grab churros as our sweet treat post movie. As for recommendations, The seats could be upgraded if you're comparing to the lazy boy seats from AMC. You could feel and hear the springs. The bathrooms could also use renovations. There's many narrow stalls and rusted fixtures.

But I am SO GLAD I was recently afforded the opportunity to finally check it out when I was granted tickets to a screening/Q&A of Omaha. They only have 1 screen but I loved how it's a great balance between vintage + modern. Usually with the former, you expect uncomfortable seats but I found these to be quite comfortable, with plenty of legroom and good stacking of rows so that your view isn't compromised. The theater itself is spacious AND gorgeous in its own right. May sound silly but I also judge movie experiences considering concession - here, although there are only a couple of operators, they run the lines efficiently and their popcorn is fresh and tasty (even when the butter topping is administered on their end). I could see required street parking being a challenge but I haven't had an issue in the surrounding areas that time, or since. Yes, after this screening I signed up for the Landmark Theatres loyalty program because I knew I'd definitely be back. And already have, for another Q&A (the film Forge). I love that they screen indie films and extend opportunities like this for fairly reasonable prices.

As luck would have it, I only found out about this series for their last screening, a double feature of Clifton Ko's film "Devoted to You" and Stanley Kwan's "Love Unto Waste", both originally released in 1986. Speaking with my dad, it turned out the first screening he saw at Sing Lee's was "Ace Go Places IV", coincidentally also released in 1986. Parking at the Hammer Museum is $8 after 5pm on the weekends, though I was easily able to find street parking nearby for free. It's worth mentioning the museum has free admission, so take the time to stroll around if you can. As luck would have it, I came ten minutes before the galleries closed, so don't do that. On the flip side, that meant I was able to get a ticket for the screening early to secure a seat. Beandrea July, who I hear occasionally on FilmWeek, was the host of the evening and gave a great introduction to the films and guests. Both films, with their over-the-top Hong Kong humor and melodrama, were presented well technically even with all the graininess, which I think adds to the appeal. The seats were comfy, and a "No food or drinks" policy means no cup holders. After the screening, a quick Q&A with UCLA Professor Michael Berry and Harvard PhD student Janet Louie provided some historical context to what the filmmakers may have tried to conveyed with their works, and the sentiment felt by audiences back in Asia and the diaspora. Here's hoping these folks continue to restore more films and add to the series!

Review #925 2025-103…read more My gal pal invited me & my son to attend a Zootopia 2 private industry screening at The Crescent Theater with her husband. Located on Crescent Dr. & Wilshire Blvd., The Crescent Theater is a 114-seat private theater with 4K Christie CP-4220 Digital Cinema projector & 5.1 audio equipment that's calibrated regularly along with the light level for optimal settings. An underground parking garage is located off Crescent Dr. just north of Wilshire Blvd. Proceed to the single "visitor" lane, select the "ticket" button for a parking ticket, & proceed to P2 or P3 for parking. Make sure to get a validation sticker for your parking ticket, & stick it on the non-printed/blank side to be scanned at the time of exit. The assigned theater parking was relatively empty & dark, my son said it was kinda scary being in the garage & hurried to the elevators. Once we arrived to the designed floor, there was clear signage directing you to the theater. An agent was posted near the entrance to check-in guests; no tickets or QR codes like the regular theaters. The theater itself was nice with gradual stadium seating. We sat in the middle at the right edge, but still had a nice view. The movie was scheduled to start at 1:00 PM, & the projectionist started the movie about 10-mins. after; no movie previews to sit through. Yasss! Due to the private nature of the screening, no drinks (except bottled water) & snacks are allowed, & none were provided. The sound was crisp & clear, though a bit too loud for my taste. The seats were ok; normal, no reclining with barely enough space for someone to walk past without stepping on your toes. The audience was respectful of others; no one was talking, the kids stayed in their seats, no crinkling or rustling of snack bags. It was a pleasant experience with no conflicts... we thoroughly enjoyed watching Zootopia 2 at The Crescent Theater on a Sunday afternoon. There's a bright, airy lobby that's perfect for lounging before & after the movie. It's currently decorated for the winter holidays. No concession stand like the typical theater. I love The Crescent Theater... would love to be invited back for future screenings!
