I've been here three times in the past couple of months, and I won't be returning. Two issues kept coming up every visit: 1) Popcorn quality is consistently bad. At a recent showing, I ordered the Culver Combo and the popcorn was almost entirely small, crumbly fragments, the tiny broken bits you'd normally find at the very bottom of the bag. It was basically impossible to eat. I got a refill halfway through, assuming I'd just gotten the ends of a batch, but the replacement scoop from a fresh machine was no better. On top of the texture, the popcorn also just doesn't taste good. it had a slightly burnt taste every single time. 2) About an hour into every movie, it becomes obvious there's no AC or fan running. I wouldn't be surprised if a CO2 monitor showed elevated levels. I've flagged this to staff on all three visits, and each time turning on the AC fixed it immediately, but it's never on by default. Sitting in a hot, stale theater for two hours is genuinely unpleasant, and the difference in air quality the moment you step into the hall is obvious. I really want to like this theater, it's a local business and I'd rather support it than a big chain but I won't be returning unless these issues are addressed/fixed. read more

Really fabulous option for a neighborhood theater in downtown Culver City with decent pricing and validated parking in a few of the city lots off of Cardiff and Watseka (the Washington one too but check the website for the specific times). Great concession stand with options. Decor is in the retro Gatsby style is clean and well kept. Staff is super friendly and helpful as well. Sound in the theaters also great. I've also been here for a few screenings which has been a fun way to watch some new movies in advance of them coming out! read more

Went last night for the movie screening for Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan: Ghost War. The theater is not hard to find. Parking is nearby in a parking garage which is free for the first 3 hours with validation. Was in line around 06:20p. Just myself and about a handful of others waiting in line. Went in to speak with someone about checking in and they said someone will be out to do it at 06:30p. No one came out until around 7:00p. Finally got inside after receiving our wristbands. Ordered food at the concession stand and was told it'll be about 6 mins for everything. Grabbed some popcorn. It was free along with a soda or small bottle of essential water. Went and grabbed us some seats up top with no problem. Came back, food still wasn't ready. Went to the bar to grab us some drinks while we waited. Our food still wasn't ready. Went over to the waiting area where they give you your order, food still wasn't ready lol. We waited about 20 mins for our food. I ordered some plain nachos, veggie rolls and crispy sliders. So we missed about the first 10-15 mins of the movie. I'm not tripping I just would've appreciated a better time being quoted because the 6 mins really took about 20 mins. The bar drinks were good tho. Prices aren't bad either. A 6 oz glass of Chardonnay was $12 and a Golden Hour Sour was $16. Snacks and entree prices were reasonable also. No complaints on the prices and I enjoyed all of the food. It was also a good movie. Won't get into details but I'm glad I got the tix. We had a great night out. Came to this location for a screening event and it was a bit overwhelming. The line was disorganized, Staff weren't as helpful as they literally told us "they didn't know" when we asked questions. Not many food options, and the seats didn't recline or have much leg room. They didn't have parking so I was told to park at Trader Joe's and they will validate so you have to walk a couple a mins. Not sure if the event is what shaped my experience or the venue itself but not sure if I return as I prefer more luxury style movie experience. read more

It's the @light_skin_dragon coming to you with a premier that I will never forgot and on top of that got to meet the couple that the movie was based on. Which was based on the true story of the indigenous ppl living in Brazil and how the government was destroying their place of living because they lived in the forest. After the movie I was invited to meet with Jama and her husband which there was a translator because they spoke Portuguese. It was located on the second deck and they had nice smelling food. I took some back home for my daughter because I can't eat yet. The only reason I gave this place a 4 because the screening provided popcorn and water or a drink. I took 2 waters and the man at the front checking wristbands said one per person so I ask the person who worked there at concessions she said that fine. Parking well there are a few gauges around and it's free for 2 hours and the city of Culver City gives one additional free. read more

I had an amazing time here when coming for a screening! I've been coming here for years and it's such a lovely space. I love the lobby area and the bar has its own unique vibe that makes it perfect for hanging out before or after a film. The theater itself is very cozy and comfortable and has great sound and picture quality. They do a great job of keeping it updated while also preserving its architecture. The staff working there were so friendly and accommodating. They do a great job of cleaning and maintaining the theater while also being helpful! Parking is easy in the nearby public lots as well as street parking in the neighborhood areas. read more

A hidden gem cinema theater in LA! My local theatre that I go to. The former ArcLight Cinemas closed years ago and the theatre was left empty until Amazon took over this space, made it nice and pretty and kept the movie experience alive in Culver City. Very fitting as Culver City had so much film history. I really dig this theater, no IMAX screen but a state of the art high definition screen and amazing surround sound! I also like that it's a small theatre overall with a bar, concession stand and plenty of restaurants outside just feet away in Downtown Culver City. They show recent blockbusters but also old school movies during the weekend for as low as around $8. The theatre validates for 2 hours parking on selected garages. Visit their website to see which garages are eligible. Wish it was at least 3 hours since most movies are 2.5-3 hours. If you sign up for their free membership, you get a free popcorn when you sign up, birthday popcorn, and earn points to redeem for food at the concession stand. Friendly staff and service. It was my first time at this theater, and I got my tickets off of Fandango. When I went up to scan, the guy was so rude for absolutely no reason. I zoomed into a barcode and he quickly fired back "Yeah, that's not our barcode" and proceeded to dismiss me. Like okay, thanks for telling me, but you could've just said it's actually the QR code instead of just turning me away altogether. Just straight up got a weird vibe from this place Keep in mind that if you park in the Culver City steps garage, the parking validation provided at the theater does not work. They provide a small little paper notification at the station, but no other notice about that (unless I missed it). Ended up waiting a whole 30 minutes afterwards. Maybe management could find a better way of letting people know, that would be nice. read more

Lovely theater with very friendly service and great food and snack options. The seats are comfy, the theaters are clean, and the screens and sound are excellent. The crowd is really chill too, and I've had great experiences at both empty matinees and later Friday night showings. I also love that they regularly play older movies! Very strangely, after living in LA for 4 years, I went to Culver City for two different events in the same week. One was a LA Times sponsored screening with Billy Crystal (icon amirite?!) and the other was for a festival. It's such a unique and beautiful theater with a gorgeous facade and little courtyard area outside. That blue sign is legend status! And very nice staff. You can park at 9099 Washington Blvd. and get free 3 hour validation with ticket. This lot also has a few electric vehicle charging stations. The seats inside aren't very comfortable but this is an old school theater so comes with the territory. They don't recline so hopefully you don't plan on relaxing tooooo~ much. They have a normal concession stand for movie-goers, with a full bar, as well. Coming here for the sole purpose of watching movies, I'd pass as I like a comfy, reclining seat. However, for events this is fantastic! You can use the main area for refreshments and mingling prior to entering theaters for screenings. It's fabulous and fun! read more

This place was great! We watched LILO and Stitch. This place is underrated for sure! Maybe not, but it seemed like the screen was bigger here than at other theaters and louder. The movie price was cheap and with a membership we had unlimited popcorn and soda. I look forward to coming back! read more

The Culver theater host so many different cool events like so many Q&A sessions. I saw the DMV screening, the new season of ghosts first episode screening and a couple of different movies. The Los Angeles Times and Culver theater have kind of like a collaboration where they do that and today's no different. There's Rosemeade with Lucy. Lou is going to be screening today at 3 PM. I can walk to the Culver theater so I love the walk ability factor I mean I guess you can walk almost anywhere if you want right? But I do love being able to get to downtown Culver City and just check out all the new stuff happening so this was an arc light theater before and I was a member and I used to go to the Q&A sessions there too. I always find it interesting to see the choices that the actors make, and the directors make and just kind of see how the whole project comes together. read more

It looks nice forsure and when I say it's a theater similar to others it just means there's nothing special about the theater but there is also nothing wrong with it. Definitely a good spot if you live in Culver. Price wise, average tickets ranging from 16-22 dollars depending on what you're watching and the time of day. One of the things I love about living in Los Angeles is being able to go to beautiful movie theaters! While The Culver Theater is actually not that old, it has all the shine and patina of a beautiful theatre from Hollywood's golden era! So far I have been there for a movie preview, which included a drink and popcorn - super organized with handing everything out. I've been there for a film festival, which was super efficient with all the crowds coming in and out of multiple films for like a week (they know what they are doing after 10 years)! I love how they made it a red carpet event on opening night with Japanese drums and lots of stars taking pix upon arrival! I loved seeing so many different films and the Q&A that would often follow. I will definitely be back next year for the asian world film festival. They also had a day where they incorporated, a lot of different, cultural art and performances for festival goers and the local community. So now, my last goal is to go see a film there just for fun. ...And do a taste buffet of their amazing snack bar options! What a gem of a theater! read more

So I really don't go to the movies much since most movies nowadays are remakes of past movies so I go suckered into going to sew a remake of a past movie today. Yep, that's right I went to go see the Color Purple and believe it or not this was one of the few locations that was not sold out and I'm guessing because of location. First just walking into the area it's really nice, clean and comfortable. Walking into the theater, they've taken away people selling you tickets which really felt weird. It looks like the machines have already taken jobs away from people here. I think I've been here once or twice before and the first thing you see when you come in is the bar. Unfortunately for me it was closed this afternoon. I don't know what time it opened but me not having a drink contributed to me actually being able to stay awake and see the whole movie. Here is the one thing that irked me. The popcorn and drink combo they had wasn't at all what I expect. It's pictured as a bucket but what I got was a bag which in the past had been a medium and now I guess is a large. The drink felt like a medium too but the price was large at a little over $17. I wasn't happy about this. The rest of my experience was great and the movie was cool. read more

Big fan of The Culver Theater. It's clean, staff is friendly, and never crowded. I would even recommend coming in for just food or drinks because their options are really good! It's all restaurant quality. Seating wise, for not being recliners, the seats are comfy and the screens are decent sizes. Also, parking is easy if you do one of the Culver City ran parking lots. I was here for a American Express platinum card members private event. It was super fun. They gave us free vouchers for food and drinks. And we got to see two movies. They have validation here, I parked in the parking lot right across the street and it is super affordable. Seven dollars for four hours but if you get it validated, it'll only be one dollar. The popcorn is super buttery and they have dispensers of the mustard and ketchup, but be careful it's spews out a lot of condiments and smothers your meal. read more

Very disappointing customer service. I sat through a 3 hour Mission Impossible and always stay to honor the credits. As soon as the credits finished i checked my messages and returned a 2 line message for work, maybe 2 1/2 min tops; a worker named Ryan says excuse me I gotta get the theatre ready for the next group! I look around, i'm the only one sitting there. There's a whole theatre to clean, I have my back pack already on and within 3-4 min of the movie ending, without a please he's telling me to leave. He stood still and just stared at me while i was putting my phone away, almost to intimidate me to leave. I found it rude and totally unnecessary, not professional at all. So i went to the front desk and asked the 3 employees standing there if there was a manager available please, and I saw the girl roll her eyes as the other two looked at her, as if merely asking for a manager is such a nagging thing to do. Turns out the gal was the manager, go figure. When I explained the unnecessary rushing and how it was uncomfortable him standing and staring at me when there's an entire theater to clean, and I told him i was leaving, her response was, "yeah we're supposed to wait for everyone to leave to start cleaning". I couldn't have been more dismissed and sure that this feedback was going nowhere. Airplane, non reclining seats, not welcoming, not a good experience. I left it at 2 stars because there were two helpful gentleman when I got there, and want to honor them. That's my experience, we live and learn read more

Amazon quietly opened its first cinema in Culver City, which is in a shuttered ArcLight Cinemas building that spans about 40k+ square feet. It is across the street from the 100+ year old Culver Studios. While it's not yet formally announced the opening for the six-screen theater, The Culver Theater's official website advertises current show times for Avatar: The Way of Water and other movies. This place offers tables and seats in its lobby along with a full bar, all available before tickets checking in line. The audio and video effects in the show room number one is fine, not remarkably better or worse than other similar locations, though they seem charge slightly more than other nearby theaters. read more

This used to be an Archlight theater, but much has changed. The video screen that took up the entire wall is gone. Too bad because it celebrated all film by showcasing the movie posters. The bar experience is also gone. Old bartender had a stock bar with great cocktails, he was a mixologist and a movie nerd. Great conversations and you could go to the bar whether you were seeing a movie or not just to spend time with him. Now they have an empty bar that is just sad and the bartender is completely numb.. like the shell of a human. Zero personality zero warmth, and zero skills. They were slow and the cocktails were just bad. No effort let alone pride and craftsmanship. On the plus side the tester itself is open and clean. So see a movie there, get your cocktail elsewhere read more

Seems like every movie theater around is an AMC nowadays... Nothing against big chains but I like small theaters- they seem more relaxing and less crowded. My family has been coming to this local cinema for many years; they've gone through some changes but we love their location and the beautiful courtyard in front. They are not in a big shopping mall and still retain a small town vibe. They also validate (full validation so you don't pay anything, unlike some of the large venues now) if you park in the locations they list on their website. I think the closest and most convenient one is the parking garage at 3846 Cardiff. It's a short walk from the theater. Buying ticket online was also pretty easy. All and all a pleasant experience! read more
