We have always had the greatest service with James Chevrolet, right from the day we bought our new car there 2 years ago. In this particular case, the car suddenly had a problem in the evening, we had AAA tow it to James Chevrolet without their knowledge, and the towtruck driver left them a message. I immediately went and rented a car for a week, not knowing when my car would be repaired. In fact, the car was fixed by noon the next day!! They called me at noon for me to come and get it. Mine said I won a flatscreen TV or $1,000.00 Drive 45 minutes to the dealer and when she put in the information it comes up with a wheel that she spins and guess what??? I won a dollar and a candy bar. She then points to some very fine, faded print on the form that says the prizes may not match up with scratched off prizes. TOTAL SCAM, very disapointed that a dealership sponsered by a major car manufactuirer would let them get away with pissing off potential customers. I was trapped hundreds of miles from home. Every dealer said they couldn't help me (and were VERY rude about it) after being stuck on the side of the road from 11am-3pm waiting for a tow truck I arrived here. They moved Heaven and Earth to try to get me a rental car checking everywhere possible no luck. Then while pulling in the car they saw the issue. A blown off intake. Every other dealer could have fixed it in 2 minutes but didn't want to take the time with possible rental. The service department was amazing and for the first time that day I felt like the issue was going to be solved and someone wanted to help. Mark was amazing. Thank you to him and his team. I wouldn't even give them one star. My son bought a car in May. It is a chevy, Equonox. It was supposed to be certified but that must have been a big fat lie. He took it back because he has had trouble and having to buy so many parts for it. Now it is electrical and wouldn't even test it unless he paid for the test. They won't cover anything which you would think electrical would be covered. They do not back their cars they sell and we would never go there now I am going to make sure everyone knows what crooks they are there. Shame on them. Buying an only 3 year old car you would think not so many things would be wrong with it. My wife totaled her car and we needed a replacement asap. When looking around various dealerships we realized only they had vehicle we wanted. Here is where the 1 star review comes in. They Charged 10% OVER MSRP for the vehicle. Between the "upcharge" of 10%, and selling at MSRP they made more money then justified. We know we could have said no. But thinking back, if they are charging these outrageous overages, what would they charge for service. Not only would I never go back there, I highly warn anyone to do the same. All this dealership did was send me junk mail with a bunch of promises about my trade and low interest financing. They tried to sell me a Malibu for $6k above the MRSP. An American made car dealership tried to screw me. Absolutely shameful. They sent me junk mail with a BS offer on my trade and finance. All I got was an offer of $6000 OVER MRSP on a Malibu. Went there today to look at a used car 2022 Chevy Trailblazer with almost 11000 miles on it, I asked for a price they couldn't do that out right... Finally after all of the back and forth they gave me a price of $42,000 I test drove it and stopped to check things out and found the original sticker price off the car and it was at $33,000. they wanted 9 grand more than when it was brand new!! BUYER BEWARE nothing but a bunch of lairs, cheats and bad salesmanship !! Manipulators! The KBB has it at 26-29,000. Make sure you get a car fax because they have no problem buying wrecked cars and selling them with out disclosing that Information too. Educate yourself, and go somewhere else! read more

All the free coffee and thank you ma'ams are nice. However at the end of the day this dealership sold me a certified pre-owned vehicle that ended up being a lemon. Unfortunately right now there aren't any resolutions available to me that don't involve me either coming out with just the negative equity from my old car or sinking more money into this dealership. Since neither of those options appeal to me I will be continuing to drive my lemon and dealing with its issues until I can get a new vehicle. Unless they can come back with a phenomenal offer for replacement of this vehicle this is my last GM and last James vehicle as well. If you want to go to a "typical" dealership - James Chevrolet is it. Spent five hours there with a salesperson who was all over the lot. When paperwork was finally finished - 4 hours later - nothing was explained. Signed all and then realized one was for a warranty that I specifically said no to. The salesperson did not remove it as he said he would and it took 4 months for me to receive the money back from the warranty company since it was sent to the dealership who held it for an extra month. Also needed to return the next day for the car to be detailed. Would definitely not return there and word of mouth is probably is the worse advertising. read more

Absolute garbage! Was excited to buy my first "good" truck. Felt rushed through the paperwork and pushed toward the financing they approved of. I later found out that my credit union approved me at a lower interest rate but for a few hundred less than the amount they requested. They never even told me this, just that I had the one option. I of course bought the extended warranty which was almost $4000. In less than six months the truck has had 4 major issues, 3 of which were not covered by the supposed great warranty. When I purchased my 2016 Malibu Hybrid in 2016 the $795 "James advantage Agreement" was already added to the lease. When I asked about it I was told it covered oil changes, inspections, etc. for as long as I owned the vehicle so I let it slide. When the lease was up, I wrote a check for nearly $20,000 to purchase the car. I just took it back for an oil change and a very rude, sarcastic manager informed me since I purchased the care and did not re-purchase the James Agreement (never mentioned) it did NOT apply. 4 inspections at $21 and 5 oil changes (GM pays for 2) at $40 each. You do the math! And this manager had nerve enough to say "we don't do free oil changes" What a scam this is. Lots of Chevy dealers out there and everyone I know will go to another. I think you can tell quite a bit about a dealership by their service department. I'm hoping this gets seen by the owner because my experience at James Ford in Rochester (which is wonderful) leads me to believe that he would be disappointed in James Chevrolet. Listen, I bought my car at James Ford and the staff was wonderful, service was always top notch. Recommended several of my friends to buy their cars there. Now, I'm done with this franchise and will never do business with them again. I began having an electrical issue with my car while I was in the area for work. It seemed to be a wiring issue that caused my car to brake itself and throw several lights. While attempting to remedy the issue, my battery died. To be honest, I've needed a new battery for awhile. I called AAA to tow my car to James Chevrolet. The tow truck driver even asked if I was sure because he said he generally recommends against them because they do not care. I had him take it anyway since I do not live in the area and am already a member, plus I had always had positive experiences at the sister dealership. I got a call from Matt, their service consultant. I explained my issue and that the battery died. I asked that he replace it and that it might be the whole issue, but I'd still appreciate if they would take a look at the wiring as I thought there was a larger issue. I explained that it was an emergency as I was literally stranded in town and it was my only vehicle, and I had to drive down to Florida the next day. The response from Matt was "Well I'll try to get to it but we have appointments". I told him I absolutely understood, just please to try and get a look at it as I was literally stranded. He said they would get to it. The whole conversation seemed extremely callous, but I brushed it off. This was at 9am. After speaking with them several times throughout the day, they finally called me at 5pm (1 hour before they closed) and said they got it fixed. When I asked for more details Matt just said he didn't do it and we'd discuss more when I came to pick it up. I came to pick it up, relieved to have the car back working before I needed to drive down the coast, and Matt once again had no information for me besides the bill to pay. After digging more and looking through paperwork, I found out they had not looked at the wiring at all, and in fact had just replaced the old battery and called it a day. I was a little peeved because they charged me $150 in just labor (batt another $150) just to plug in a battery! I think most people know it takes maybe 5 min to replace. But, I shrugged it off and decided to just move on as the car was functional again and left. Unfortunately, the cost of your service department not caring about quality work or the concerns of the customer meant that on my way to Florida, my car broke down in the exact same way it had before. Had to have it towed to a nearby mom and pop. The people there were wonderful, and it took them maybe 15 minutes to look at the wiring and find out my wiring was faulty with the throttle, causing the issues I had been seeing. If the service department had listened to my concerns or gone any more steps beyond the replacement to make sure my car was in operating condition, I would have solved the issue then and there. Instead, I had to spend several hundred dollars on a rental car so I could still make it down the coast, as well as further repair cost for the vehicle. This simply cannot be the way we allow mechanic and automotive businesses to function. Please do not give any business whatsoever to this place. I certainly will never do it again. read more

They try to sell you the absolute worse car on the lot and won't even try to run your credit first. They come back with unrealistic down payment amounts yet they still didn't even contact any banks so where do these numbers come from? I am not speaking to any specific dealership. I am speaking to the endless phone calls and harassment calls I have gotten. 18 of the last 20 voicemails I have received were auto calls. I call the Seneca falls location to find out how to stop the calls. They put on the GM. The gm said it shows they are eager to sell a car, am I sure I don't want a car from them, even of they give me a great deal. I advised its not eager its harassment and no I wouldn't take their car for the best deal ever because the harass people. he actually kept trying to sell me a car and ask if I was sure??????? WOW.
