Changing rooms are by the pool. The one is small the other closer to the entrance appears larger. A group can be up to eight people. Depending on the otters you can bring your phones to the pool. They all sound like they have their little preferences. Our two Triton and Poseidon are crazy for hair ties. They really worked at the one lady's tie when they discovered it. They give recommendations regarding the otters and what they do and don't get into. They are curious and generally get into anything and everything. There is a railing they can't reach/climb but if your towels hang low they will try and grab them. 45 minutes of swim and 15 towel off with them. Being October and the end of day it was chilly even though the pool is heated the breeze wicked the body heat pretty quick. They say they don't have the experience below 50F and it is obvious why. To say how much fun it was to spend time with these two is beyond words. They spend time with everybody though they really seemed to like to perch on the one guy there. I had one desperate to get into my bathing suit pockets and tried to get up into my rash guard which was loose on me. Epic cuteness. $200/person. I highly recommend the photo package. The guide is used to taking pictures of them and can much better anticipate where and when to take them. I struggled as I didn't trust to keep my glasses on... no spare pair should they grab them. That was either an extra 10 or 15 and well worth it. This was a birthday present for my daughter and worth every penny and the 4 1/2 hour ride down. I'll call this one bucket list worthy. They have other animals there. A capybara and sloth feeding experiences too. I think it was $15 to walk the park. They do have guided tours for more where they tell all about their animals. The ravens may say 'hey' to you as you leave the otter pool area. Their fennec fox is adorable. I would definitively do this again.

We recently visited Coastal Wild expecting a zoo-like experience based on the variety of animals…read moreadvertised. Unfortunately, the experience was very different from what we anticipated. Many of the habitats appeared small, sparse, and very basic compared to what visitors may expect from traditional zoos or accredited animal facilities. The overall atmosphere felt more like a private animal collection than an immersive wildlife experience. Several species were housed together, the bird enclosures seemed limited in size, and the otter habitat was particularly disappointing. During our visit, veterinary procedures involving a cow were taking place in view of guests, which was unsettling for both adults and children. In my opinion, the pricing was excessive for what was offered. The facility is very small and appears run down in several areas. I do not feel that a self-guided tour is worth $20 per person, and I certainly do not understand how a guided tour is priced at $65 per person. The cost simply did not match the experience provided. I recognize that smaller facilities operate differently than larger zoos, and I appreciate the effort that goes into caring for animals. However, I left feeling more sad than inspired. Instead of enjoying the experience, I found myself feeling sorry for many of the animals and disappointed by the condition and presentation of the facility. Families considering a visit should understand that this is not a traditional zoo experience. I hope the facility invests in improving both the visitor experience and the habitats because the animals deserve environments that showcase them in the best possible way.

On this visit, I tried the Blueberry Banana Smoothie and the Turkey Sandwich at their cafe. The smoothie was incredible, vibrant purple, perfectly thick. The turkey sandwich was equally impressive; the bread was toasted to a perfect golden brown, and the balance of the melted cheese and sauce made for a great brunch. Beyond the cafe, it's the perfect spot to grab some fresh fruits and baked goods for home. Definitely a local gem!

We were hoping to find peaches that were more ripe because they were local. We found about two peaches that were a little softer but they had no smell. I was suprised that there were so few local items. If I wanted goods made in PA, I'd go to PA. I asked which produce items were local and it sounded like almost none of them. You can get baked goods, produce, bottled and jarred items like pickes, candy, meats, and "homemade" deli items. There were plants for purchase, some outdoor furniture, and a cafe. The best part of the place ended up being the animals. We fed some goats and took a phot with the large bull statue. I think this would be a great place to bring kids to see the animals. I don't think it's worth the drive if you're staying on the coast because it's mostly grocery store quality produce and items you can get for less elsewhere. But, if you need something to do with kids and you're close by, it's worth a stop.

If you try to get there early, parking is definitely easier and closer to the Zoo entrance. We got there around 1pn and it was starting to fill up. The good news is that zoo parking is FREE and so is the fee to get in. They ask for a donation and we were happy to provide a donation for such a great experience! I can ony imagine the upkeep for a zoo - - the property upkeep and animal care, the workers, etc. There were so many animals that were already out with many more that are starting to be brought back outside since the weather is getting warmer. Don't miss this treat when you're in Cape May - - or make a special trip alone - -it's great for kids and for people any age! The park is very clean, has plenty of rest rooms, food/drink and also a beatiful playground when you first get to the zoo. The only animals we really missed were the Giraffes. I'm sure they were somewhere -- and they dont really like the cold temps - - I'm sure they'll be back as it warms up. They dont like temps under 50 - - i dont blame them. And don't sleep on the reptiles - - the turtles, frogs, snakes and alligators are waiting for you! All in all, we were there for about 2 hours. I would guess when it's more crowded, it may take a bit longer to get through the exhibits. So go now and have fun before Memorial Day gets here. :)

The alpacas were also active, and we saw bison, some birds, some reptiles, and a wallaby. But this zoo definitely needs some TLC as we did not see many of the animals expected as listed on the website. I know that animals might not be active during a particular visit, but there were enclosures that either had a sign on it or looked like there was definitely "no one home." There is a small cafe with hot dogs and hot pretzels, a slushie truck, and a small gift store. The adjacent playground is a plus, and the whole surrounding park area looks like a great place to walk on the trails. Don't forget to leave a donation so that they can stay open and stay free!

Having a clue about the layout helps tremendously since things are a bit... squirrely. salisburyzoo.org/be-our-guest/map/ You've got a small parking lot (maybe 20 cars) on South Park Drive and then another lot on the other side of the zoo on Beaver Dam Drive that's slightly larger. While that seems easy enough, most of the zoo is a small maze of interconnected walkways. It's very easy to miss something or double back on yourself while not knowing where to go. The animals here are for the most part small time. Think some reptiles, crane, flamingos, a crow, alpaca, deer, goat, lynx, etc. The biggest would be two bald eagles, a few small bears and two or three bison. This isn't the National Zoo in DC or the zoo in Philly. If you're walking at a brisk pace and ignoring the empty enclosures, you could slam through here easy in 30 minutes and have seen everything. We were fast, but not that fast. Doing a slow roll through and seeing everything took about 75-80 minutes. IMHO, any review for this zoo should be/needs to be automatically skewed higher simply because it's free. I mean within reason; how do you take a dump on something that's free? With that said, know before you go what's here and what's not here to keep your expectations in check and you should have a good time.
