By the time we got here the facilities up front were closed so I have no idea what was available sans for restrooms and an outdoor shower. According to the website, shower and changing facilities are available, along with a food concession, chair & umbrella rentals, even a Mobi-Mat which allows wheelchairs to be pushed onto the beach (such a great idea). The sandy area is very wide and stretches for 3 miles with zero shady spots or trees. Lifeguards were gone for the day with their stands turned upside down. I noticed some vehicles actually parked on the beach near the northern end, a very cool perk that is not allowed back home. Ocean conditions were fairly calm but most folks were in waist-high water at most. OVERALL: Spacious real estate, but coming from Hawaii, my expectations are set too high, LOL.

This is a hidden spot in Delaware and its so beautiful. You won't find many people here but you will find your perfect quiet place whether kayaking, biking, crabbing, hiking, or swimming ( public boat ramp). The observation tower is the best view of the Assawoman Bay and wildlife . You will see lots of bald eagles, river otters, giant woodpeckers , blue heron, egrets. SMH why all those cars are sitting in traffic to go to the beach when you can go to the bay ? It's completely free ...lots of fishing and crabbing , sailing , paddle boarding and don't forget to bring the dogs because they are allowed here!

We will definitely try a different location away from the marsh. They have bathhouses for campers only nearby and open at all hours. They did a good job trying to keep it clean. The campgrounds are clean. You have access to fishing . You are able to walk to the beach but we drive to the parking lot and the parking pass given by the campground covered the parking spot. The beach has lifeguards and there are two restaurants and shops. The beach has restrooms and bathhouses within free same center as the restaurants. They do not have BBQ grills. Bring your stove tops to cook and food that's doesn't required heating. They don't allow outside wood for any type of grills. You can find additional information on the website. The area is kid friendly and secure. They have a nice playground. I will try this location again.

Because only one other person was there, we were able to easily get a place to park. I can imagine this being a very popular place to come and watch the sun disappear, particularly when the weather is warmer and you can enjoy the moment instead of try to stay warm. There's a gazebo where you can sit. There's also a small pier but I wasn't sure if that was part of the park or private property so we didn't investigate.

Very spacious sites with the bathroom/shower reasonably close. Parking was "ok"..... but they fill up and then you have to use overflow. The bathrooms/showers were clean BUT I guess I'm used to sites that spray repellent because nature is boss. We drove through the comfort sites of D and they were too tight for my liking. They have yurts and cabins but for me a tad too close. They do have an Island camp site Loved it!!!!! That's a must do. It's 2 sites across a short walking bridge with water view and access. I would definitely go back.

One thing I don't understand is why the Park Maintenance people don't cut the Wisteria growth on the trees? Some trees have vines over two inches in diameter. We make an effort to go to Bayside Park every year. They have two major sets of play equipment one…read morefor the smaller kids and another for the bigger kids. There is also a set of swings that is separate from the other two. There is a combo of natural mulch on the one part and rubberized mulch that is paved on the other half. Both playsets have multi-tiered areas to play on and under. Monkey bars, climbing walls, several slides and secret fossils and a few service windows to play "ice cream shop or food delivery" is also a nice touch. The park is open from dawn til dusk usually the park is empty but every once and a while friends will stop by and play. If you do come in the early morning remember to bring a little towel or rag to dry off the slides as the morning dew almost always leaves a puddle at the bottom of the side and no one likes a wet bottom.

I was pleasantly surprised that this park seems like it was remodeled in the past few years and is very nice. There is a large playground structure with multiple slides, monkey bars, and climbers. It's geared towards the over 5 crowd, but my toddler managed fine with some assistance from mom and dad. There are 4 swings, 3 benches, and an open area with trees that would be a nice spot to picnic or hang out. The only negative is that the park is right off of the street so be careful if your kids are runners. It's a small park so no bathrooms or anything like that. Definitely worth checking out while you're in OC.
