This was a nice place to go tent camping that in walking distance from the beach. I stayed at T13 which is near the marsh and we did not like the smell. We will definitely try a different location away from the marsh. They have bathhouses for campers only nearby and open at all hours. They did a good job trying to keep it clean. The campgrounds are clean. You have access to fishing . You are able to walk to the beach but we drive to the parking lot and the parking pass given by the campground covered the parking spot. The beach has lifeguards and there are two restaurants and shops. The beach has restrooms and bathhouses within free same center as the restaurants. They do not have BBQ grills. Bring your stove tops to cook and food that's doesn't required heating. They don't allow outside wood for any type of grills. You can find additional information on the website. The area is kid friendly and secure. They have a nice playground. I will try this location again. read more

On our way home I took a detour to stop at Delaware Seashore State Park. In season, the parking lot is open and charges $5 per day for (instate cars) and $10 per day for (out of state cars) personally think it should be the same They allow tent camping here, each plot has a picnic table. Looked like about 50 plus spots on both ends of the Indian Bridge. There was a concession area and large bath house. Looks like it would be a lot of fun during season but way too cold right now and I guess closed there was no one camping!!!! The bridge is beautiful!!! The park was deserted this cold snowy Sunday, first day of February and snowstorm on its way. The beach was lovely with a light dusting of snow. Pretty spectacular to me but I am always highly impressed with nature. Tony and I walked a little and watched the high waves crash on the sandy beach. It was beautiful and so peaceful. This was my first, second and third time here to visit this beach with my family of eleven and six. Non residents must pay $10 to park here, but the state sells an annual pass for either resident or non-resident vehicles in which case you don't have to pay the $10. I purchased one of the stickers for my vehicle. There is lots of parking here unless you visit after lunch in which case the parking lot is much fuller. Lifeguards are on duty here. Also the Big Chill restaurant and bar is conveniently located here. We always go in the morning around 10am and then enjoy lunch at the Big Chill. We all agreed we will continue to return here. read more

DE Seashore State Park Campground has two sides. The north side and the south side. For the past 7 years we have been staying on the north side and never had any problem getting a reservation. This year for some reason all the sites are booked up. We are a group of 15 campers and none of us got spots for next year. I am ver suspicious of this and think somehow someway people are beating the system and getting spots. The campground itself is nice. Spots are big on north side and view at night is amazing. Maintenance staff came within 15 minutes of me reporting a broken picnic table and replaced it! Good job! You lost one star because of the reservation process. Sorry my gut tells me something is up. read more

My hubby and I just had our inaugural rv trip at Delaware State Seashore and had a really nice time! We had full hookups and all went well with it. The beach is beautiful and an easy walk. I had a little trouble but have a bad knee. Their is a great beachfront open restaurant . Prices aren't bad for the beach. Kudos to all the servers! They have to walk up a full flight of stairs carrying trays of food and huge bags of ice!!! Wow!!! We also had a short walk to the bay, and there are 2 fire rings with built in seating around. Also an easy walk to a great playground for the kids! We saw lots of fishing going on, both the ocean and on the inlet. I had some trouble making the reservation. We wanted to book the North Inlet side, which has larger sites. The site that I entered wasn't available, and it gave me other options which were for both North and South. I didn't realize that, and chose a site that was on the south side. My fault, but just wanted people to be aware of that. The South side has pull through sites, which is good, but it's pretty tight. We have a 34' fifth wheel and made it ok, but there was a 40+fifth wheel that needed to have their neighbor move their truck. It seems like the end sites have a bit more room. Overall, a wonderful place to camp and can't wait to stay there again! read more

We stayed here for two nights early in the season on our way from PA to NJ. It was your typical Oceanside campground with lots of sand and the smell of the ocean. The sites are nice and level and although the campground is large I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet it was (we stayed in the North Inlet lot) despite being alongside a huge bridge. There are some nice paths to walk along the ocean and it was easy access to a beach that we happily could bring our dogs to. The only reason we gave it 4 stars and not five is that they don't allow campfires which is disappointing since there's nothing like having a nice campfire waterside after a long day of exploring or hanging at the beach. We also found that there were a ton of flies and earwigs. Our first night my fiancé had trouble sleeping because he kept finding earwigs all over our camper. The scenery is beautiful though. The bridge is gorgeous lit up at night and it's fun to watch the boats go by. Also the campground was extremely clean which isn't always the case for some state parks. The bathhouse and laundry also looked like they were pretty new and they were very well lit at night. I would not hesitate to stay here again if I was in the area. read more

We stopped on the way home from Florida and ended up camping here for 2 nights. Beautiful park. Camped here as a child ..and boy...has it changed!! A lot to see and do.. hiking, biking, swimming, exploring. Campsites are fine for ocean camping. The only thing that was annoying was a jackass displaying an offensive political flag..which does not belong in a campground. First I've seen but says a lot about the intellect of the owner. The park isn't really open for the season but I hope this isn't usually allowed. read more

The beach is beautiful, but waaaay too much of it is a parking lot. I really don't understand why the state has allowed this. The permit $, I guess. What a shame. To drive your truck onto the beach you have to be "surf fishing," but the vast majority of people set up their fishing poles for show so as to be able to drive onto the beach with their mountains of gear and readily set up camp for the day. You can't walk down the beach without seeing a long uninterrupted line of trucks and without dodging all the fishing lines. If you're thinking of a serene nature experience, this isn't it. read more

Parking Can get full at times. Parking is shared with Big Chill. Cash at the entry station (manned) or use the machines if you prefer to pay by credit card. I believe it's $10 a car. Bathrooms I wish the bathrooms had better access from other areas of the beach. It's a long walk. I also would prefer if they upkeep them more. Especially being that they also serve the restaurant (Big Chill Beach Club) upstairs! Beach Clean with enough space to spread out. They allow tents larger than Rehoboth does. Great beach if you are visiting the Delaware shoreline! I recommend getting there early especially on the weekends, somewhere between 9:30-10am as the parking lot fills up quickly. Currently they only allow 60% capacity with Covid regulations, $10 for the day for out of state visitors. The beach itself is spacious and clean. It has a restaurant that serves alcoholic drinks and food, another separate concession stand, and bathrooms/ showers to use. Lifeguards begin at 10am each day. One of the neat things about this beach is the gorgeous view of the bridge and boats coming in and out of the bay. Makes for some fun sightseeing! Also, there always seems to be dolphin pods swimming far out to watch, how neat! read more

This is a quirky spot and not what I was expecting for 'state park camping' but all in all we had a nice time. The staff were nice and the bathroom facilities were pretty clean, definitely more so than other campgrounds I've been to. First, the good: It's a nice state park if you explore the area. The Life Saving Station Museum was actually way cooler than expected and only a couple miles from the campground. The beach is a quarter mile from the campground, if that, and you can walk there easily. There's a restaurant and bar called Big Chill right across the street with a nice rooftop deck and view of the ocean. The food is so so. The campground is easy to get around in and the camp store has a nice mix of camping supplies and foodstuffs. There is a great sunset to be seen on the inlet! The bad: It's right under a very noisy bridge with constant car traffic. The "campground" is really just a sandy parking lot, and the tent and RV sites are very close together so there's not much privacy and you can hear your neighbors if they're still up when you're trying to sleep. The blue light from the bridge also obscures the stars at night. Summary - If you're there to mostly be at the beach and just sleep and cook at your camp site this is a great option. If you're looking for nature, peace and quiet and privacy to hang out in, this is not the spot. It's my own fault for not reading more of the reviews before I went for two nights, but like I said, if you know what it is going in you'll have a decent time! read more

We stayed here last October, 2022. We have come here multiple times over the past few years and have always enjoyed the clean restrooms, showers and grounds. However this last time we were very disappointed about the cleanliness and upkeep of the restrooms/showers. They toilets were often soiled with feces and toilet paper laying all over the floor. They were like this for days. I mentioned it to one of the staff members and she told me should would inform the management. Well it did not make a difference. The showers were dirty, not from a busy weekend. The dirt and grim were caked on the walls, photos included. Shower fittings loose and falling off the walls. Clothing hooks missing. We love this beach. Every year on vacation we visit at least 2-3 times. The beach is very clean. I have watched the life guards swim out to rescue people who could not make it back in. It's pretty cool to watch. There are bathrooms and a really awesome concession stand with a restaurant above. Concession service is slow so be prepared to wait a good 10* minutes for your order if they are busy. (I highly recommend their tacos and chips/salsa). read more

Really nice campground and day park. Beach is very nice - walk a little farther and you have it nearly all to yourself. Restrooms are spacious, airy, well laid-out. Like all Delaware parks there's an entrance fee for in-state residents which is double that for out-of-state visitors. Still these fees keep it nice and clean; it's definitely worth it. read more

I love camping here. It's a super affordable price averaging $35/night! The bathrooms are kept clean (most of the time) and has hot water. It's just a brisk walk to the beach and you can fish all day here. We've caught so many different fish here ranging from eel, tautog, blue fish, bass, skates and sharks! We stayed at the cottages Thurs-Sun and had a wonderful experience! Perfect location! Walking distance to the beach and the marina restaurant. The cottage we stayed in was well maintained and perfect for our family of six. After living in Hawaii for two years, I didn't have super high expectations for the beach. But we all had a blast! The beach was clean and there was plenty of room to spread out. My kids loved boogie boarding in the waves. read more

The sites are VERY CLOSE AND CRAMPED, not at all spread out, even closer together than a KOA, most state parks I have been to have been much more spread out. The shower house sucked. You cannot turn on the shower without getting doused in cold water, it is impossible, there are no towel hooks in the shower drying area, and there is no heat in the shower house, making the cold water shower even colder. read more

*...Beach Review...* The probability of me going to OCMD again is probably never going to happen now that I've learned Delaware is where it's at. It may not be that far away from Ocean City, but there is a world difference between the quality of not just the people, but also the beaches themselves. The beaches are well kept and less crowded. You are not sitting on top of each other when trying to enjoy a warm beach day while trying to get a tan and/or trying to relax. I always get a bit stressed out when I am 3 feet away from another beachgoer, and this seashore offered a nice change from the typical. The Delaware Seashore State Park is great. It offers a ton of amenities with camping/ boat/kayak access/indoor showers/ect., and it is reasonably priced. It is $10 for non-residents and $5 for Delaware residents. $70 pass for the year if you want that sort of thing. Granted, going here, you are paying to go to the beach. However, I think that if you are wanting to quality and less stress of your typical free beach then that can be found here. I truly enjoyed my visit and I think it is totally worth visiting again in the near future. read more

We camped at Delaware Seashore State Park over Memorial Day weekend. We made our reservation about 5 months ago, so we got a great spot on the south side of the inlet. The location is awesome and the beach is only a short walk away. Overall, the campground is pretty nice. The camp store is well-stocked and the employees are just awesome...very friendly and welcoming. My critiques...the sites are really close together. I guess that's not too much different than a lot of other beach campgrounds, but it would have been nice to have just a little more space. The road is close. There is a lot of road noise. If you're tent camping, you're the closest. The bathroom aren't all that clean. The water pressure is bad and there isn't a lot of hot water. For showers, you press a button and you get what you get. Finally, close quarters means there may be some loud neighbors. We had that. Very loud. Very inconsiderate. I suspect they're the ones that puked all over the bathroom. Not good. Overall, I'd probably stay here again. The location and the staff make up for all the other issues. read more

Technically we stayed in a State Park, but it sure felt more luxurious than a campground. We stayed in the cottages that are rented through the state park system. These were great as evidenced by the looks on everyone's faces as we unlocked the front door. We were so used to renting homes and condos on/near the beach that always have a slight moldy smell and just a worn feeling to them. What a difference and a breath of fresh air (literally) these cottages were. Each has 3 bedrooms designed to sleep 6 at the most. We had teens, so the upper loft area was a treat for them. Kind of a roomy private sub-house for them. The steep ship-stairs discouraged any of the adults from visiting them. The kitchen was well supplied: dishes, pots and pans etc for all your needs. The living and dining area was pretty spacious -- television was supplied via satellite. There was a screen in porch where we ate most of our meals. A lovely breeze made it cool even when the day was hot. Top-notch sunsets every evening. Beach within walking, but we had too much equipment and chose to drive. $10 per day unless you have a state pass (we did). The nearby marina has a good restaurant and a crowded bar. However, they also do ice cream items off to the side which you can take to a bench to watch the sunset. Most evenings the wait time for a table was about an hour. read more

We visited this place at night so we did not get to go to beach that was there. However, this is like a one stop shop for a family to go to the beach. There is a good amount of parking. There is a concession to go type stand for beach folks to get food and take back to the beach. There are public restrooms and bathhouse there as well. There were 16 shower stalls in the Mens room so plenty of showers are available. It makes it easy to shower off all the sand before getting back into your car. THere is an area with gas logs that look like a fire is built into a tree stump. You can sit around the gas fire and just hang out. There is also a set up for cornhole. On the top level, there is a restaurant for people to eat dinner or whatever. There is outdoor seating and indoor seating. It was very crowded up in the restaurant the night that we went up there. Everything was in good condition and clean. This is a great set up for spending a day at the beach read more

This review comes after our second year staying on the tent lot for multiple nights. Both times Site 105! Each trip has been 5 nights, 6 days. Last year we came the second week of August. Tonight as I write this it is, sadly, our last night. The park itself is very nice. The volunteers do a great job fixing odds and ends. Wobbly picnic table here, little weed whacking there. It is refreshing to see them doing upkeep. The sites are clean. We did find some glass, but that isn't the fault of DSSP. The rules are enforced but relaxed and the park patrol lets you chill out with little stress. No drama! The camp store has almost everything essential you might have forgotten. The items are reasonably priced, they don't gouge you- they want you to have fun and be comfortable. The Big Chill is a great resource as well, for lazy nights when you don't want to wash dishes! Having beach access in walking distance is amazing!! And the sand and perimeter are kept super clean! The biggest opportunity for the campground is the bath houses could use a little more frequent attention and definitely better ventilation! The feminine product boxes were not cleaned the whole weekend. One shower runs only hot, another only cold. This makes waiting for a stall very challenging. All in all, we have had 2 great experiences at DSSP. We will definitely be back, next year we are going to plan more than 1 trip down!! read more

It was six of us, none of which ever been camping outdoors overnight before. Maybe it was the alcohol but truly a great night of camping. It wasn't luxury but it's a camp site with all the amenities you need. Safe fresh running water, clean camp grounds, a place to shower, toilets, easy access (even though GPS didn't navigate us well to the south location), walking distance from the bridge for cool pictures, and the beach. The only negative was the poorly ventilated bathrooms, poorly maintained toilets, and wholes in the shower curtains. However, we will be back with a plan to accommodate. Or just rent a RV. LOL read more

After a few days of heat and humidity in Washington, DC, I was ready for a nice trip to the coast. I have been to several Atlantic beaches in my life, but I can say that the Delaware Seashore State Park is one of the better and classic styled beaches in the area. The beach is split into a north and south area and is halfway between Rehoboth and Ocean City. While most visitors cluster around the aforementioned cities, the more rural location of Delaware Seashore provides a relaxed and enjoyable experience. This park has showers and full restrooms with snack bars and lifeguards for a good overall experience. Parking is a $10 for non-residents, but is reasonable given the facilities and clean beach. The Atlantic was warm and inviting with a great sandy beach and lots of good people having a great time. What more could you ask for? read more

The bathrooms here are absolutely DISGUSTING. I arrived on a Wednesday and the conditions of bath houses continued to deteriorate as the week progressed. It seems as though part of the mess can be attributed to complacent parents that allow their children to run wildly around the campsite and not clean up after their messes. There were massive clumps of hair EVERYWHERE, mcdonald's trash in the laddies room, tooth paste and spit covering the sinks, and my shower wouldn't drain completely so I was standing in a puddle of grime. If you decide to stay here make sure it's with a camper/RV. read more

This park includes quite a substantial length of territory. I find the oceanside beaches somewhat unpleasant because of the large vehicles that crowd it and the whole surf fishing thing. This is where you see the natives of Delaware who don't live in Rehoboth. This side doesn't have the views of Cape Henlopen either. I don't have any experience with the campgrounds or marina. However, the interior beaches on the bay are some interesting opportunities for wading in calmer and warmer water with less distractions. Wildlife here is more visible and less likely to be dangerous. None of the beaches have lifeguards. They do allow dogs, and dogs tend to enjoy the open space. On the whole, I'd rather be here than on one of the beaches in town. read more

This past weekend a couple of friends & I got together to go camping. We've been camping elsewhere this past summer, but this was certainly a different experience. Right past a busy and crowded town and over the beautiful Indian River Inlet bridge (it's blue at night) this is where the campsite happens to be. None of us had been here before and it certainly didn't look much like a campsite. We had a non-hook up spot and it reminded me of a giant festival and everyone just pitched a tent near each other. Each site was in the open so your tent was a couple feet from some random strangers. There were six of us and we got two sites next to each other. The tent next to us did get a park ranger flashing a light on them after 10 for being loud. Dogs must be on leash and we were reminded of this once in a stern voice. Dogs are not allowed on the beach, which was a huge disappointment, but it was also super windy and cloudy the main day we were there. Most people we ran into were very friendly. There was one fire pit and were told it had to be out by 10. A campground worker actually came over and gave us a huge jug of water to put the fire out and extra firewood. Roasting s'mores and drinking by the fire was awesome! A couple of people joined us real quick, but respected our use of the space. I would definitely recommend getting the tent only sites. They a little more privacy and space. The bathrooms were kept clean. The skies were full of stars. The bridge traffic at night when you're sleeping can get a bit noisy. Lots of people here were fishing. No trash cans- what you bring in you, you bring out. Would I come back? Possibly. read more

This is a very unfortunate update, and one I did not want to post. I have literally grown up at the Delaware Seashore State Park beaches, as has my entire extended family. This was our 2nd year staying at the Indian River Marina Cottages. It is, or at least it was, a hidden gem. We paid a great price for a phenomenal location. So, I did not complain when we were required to clean the entire cottage prior to departure (not really sure what the cleaning staff does with the exception of overall inspection and swishing the toilet brush around). And I did not complain when we had a "planned" power outage for 6 hours on the last night--although they should have offered us a small discount. After all, the price we paid was still great. This negative review, by no means, is reflective of any of the park staff. They are fantastic, and I am assuming this policy change (I will discuss shortly) is not within their control. So....the reservation system for the state park was recently updated. I had a sneaking suspicion as to why, but I had really hoped I was wrong. I was not wrong. Previously, the site allowed you to book for any amount of days. This allowed those who were on a limited budget to stay at a place and in a location they otherwise would not be able to afford. To my understanding, this is a primary basis of any state park system. We paid $800 plus fees and tax to stay Sunday through Thursday nights. Many on a budget tended to stay weeknights. Others able to afford a weekend would fill in the rest of the week. I know this resulted in weeks where there would be possibly 1-2-3 nights not booked. I understand this also resulted in lost revenue for the park. They could have rectified this situation. Establish a policy that one can only rent within 3 options: Sun-Fri, Fri-Sun, or all 7 days. However, the state park system management decided to offer only the 7-day option. And they raised the rental price to $1900! Nineteen. Hundred. Dollars. Now, if you calculate the rental price per week night plus weekend nights, your price comes out to $1420-$1645 per week. And an entire weekly rental normally comes with some type of discounted deal, as with almost any other rental in the area (Check VRBO and AirBnB). It would have been understandable to raise rates slightly, as maintenance fees for the park system surely tend to increase, as well as to establish a 7-night minimum. But $1900?!?!?! I can only assume that A) Many of us that frequent state parks due to its affordability will no longer be reserving at Delaware State Parks and B) Those that will still frequent them will be higher income individuals. Those that most often visit state parks, younger families on a limited income, have been locked out of this location entirely. We had planned to be repeat annual visitors to the cottages. We were able to offer our 21+ year age 3 sons, who are just starting out and are not yet able to afford vacations on their own, a nice visit to the beach. Our adult-age nieces and nephews, who are younger families with smaller children, were able to afford a great trip. My neighbors, who have 4 children on a limited income, looked forward to this getaway. Now many of us will no longer be able to stay here. The very population to which state parks are supposed to cater can no longer afford it. This is now less a state park and more of a resort. (Add that to the $10 per day beach parking fee for those not staying at a state park....) I am a 4th generation tourist. And I was encouraging our 5th and 6th generations to be so. No more. There are many more affordable options both within and outside of these areas. Hints: Found an ocean block condo in one of the close beaches at less than $200 per night. My husband and I can fly to Puerto Rico, and stay for a week in an AirBnB in Old San Juan--still at less than $1900 with airfare included. My recommendation is to spread your wings and find other places to visit. Avoid this area. The Delaware State Park system no longer provides for the very demographic they should be targeting. This place is gross. The bathrooms are covered in wet toilet paper, half of the sinks don't work, and the shower floors are covered in grime. Not only are the bathrooms gross, the handicap bathroom stall and shower DO NOT WORK! My nana had the hardest time getting around these disgusting bathrooms. There are no electricity or water hookups, no generators allowed, and no campfires. It's boring. The only nice thing about this campsite is the fact that the beach is a less than a 10 minute walk away, and is a wheelchair accessible route. Sunsets are beautiful and so is the bridge. In retrospect, this trip was an overall fail. read more

Went camping for two nights (total of three days) at the south tenting campgrounds. Bathrooms were decently clean, but some of the faucets were broken and some shower curtains were opaque or missing. The nearby bridge lights up at night for a spectacular sight. There is quite a bit of noise from highway 1 nearby during the day, but it mostly quiets down at night. It was a great stay and I will definitely be doing it again. read more

Nestled right on the beach on coastal highway Rt 1 between Fenwich Island and Dewey Beach, all in a very natural setting. The location could not be more perfect. If you are looking to escape the crowds of Ocean City or just prefer a more natural, relaxed beach vibe this is your place. And very affordable too! For full hook up (water/sewer/electric) we paid just $40 a night a few weeks after Labor Day. Here's some things to know before you go: All sites are pull in sites and allow one car parking, very little leveling is needed and they are all flat. No fires allowed but we did see two communal fire pits you can use complete with seating and wood No wifi or cable option, but we have T Mobile and had service the majority of the stay There is plenty of bathhouses located throughout The car pass gives you access to the beach under the bridge + any other Delaware state parks The Indian River runs along side the campground and is a very popular fishing spot. Since it's not in the campground you don't have to pay for access The beach also has a restaurant and a parking lot, you could drive but its a short walk under the bridge, overall the entire campground is very walkable There is a camp store but when we needed propane we had to drive to Fenwich Island to get it On our RV site they also allowed one tent and up to 8 people total - all for the $40/night price tag so you could double up on site There's marshy areas all around to look for frogs and turtles and we were told it's not unusual to find a frog stuck to your tent or bathhouse. NO activities of any kind, which was a bummer but with the beach a short walk away and boardwalks within driving distance there's plenty of ways to stay entertained No motorized scooters, ride on toys, or golf carts but do pack the kids bikes! The bridge lights up blue at night and is very scenic. While you can hear the highway noise I found the faint hum comforting overnight. Some of the things I could have done without: There is no walkways to get to the bathhouses so everyone will walk thru your site if you are near it. I saw no trashcans and have no idea what we were to do with our trash when we left so we took it home. Because there isn't any trash receptacles the playground was littered with water bottles. Sites are on the small size so you are close to your neighbors but everyone was nice and kept to themselves. I thought our bathhouse needed critter control. Looking up there were webs with huge spiders ready to drop at any time. The toilet areas were the same way. It's even worse at night when they're more active - don't look up if you don't want freaked out like I was! Bathhouse was modern but again no trash cans, toilets didn't flush all the way and left "sediments" from earlier bowel movements. Of the three showers in "ours" one didn't work, one had a weave stuck to the wall (see pic), and the other had spiders too close for comfort, but they were free and not on a timer. The tent area bathhouse however had none of these issues. Even with the bathhouse issues staying here again is in our future and a place I'll recommend again and again. read more

a very nice place to spend the day. Less crowded than the Rehoboth boardwalk and Dewey and the park on the Delaware/Maryland state line. Lots to do -they have a great beach and changing rooms and sell food and I think it is like 8bucks admission to the park. Parking at the boardwalk is going to change this year and I believe they will be charging 2 or 3 bucks an hour to be on the boardwalk. They do not start until 8am so you can still go get coffee at 6am read more
