Very bad experience from start to finish. My advisor, Allen was difficult to reach. Communication not great- had to repeat things several times to several different people. I asked them to replace a tire and not plug it- they plugged it anyway and told me it was ready. I had to call, verify it was plugged and not changed, then get in touch again with Allen (a difficult process). Now I have the car at home and after replacing the battery it is showing low again. This is either from not actually replacing it or not resetting it. I strongly recommend you make the drive to Cincy to get your MB serviced based on my experience. I will never return. read more

Ed Sturgill, the service manager, verbally assaulted me on the phone. He interrupted me, screamed at me, and told me that my car would always be last in line as long as it was at his shop. This was after my car was there for over 2 weeks with no timeline for completion, and no loaner. After hearing this, I made the decision to remove my vehicle from this business. I filed a complaint with corporate and asked for an apology, which was never offered. Not offering an apology for blatant disrespect, is another level of disrespect. If you want to be treated like trash, and never receiving a service, then james motor company will deliver. However, if you expect a service, as a paying customer, and expect a basic level of respect, then I would never recommend this company. Honestly, we ended up taking the car to the mercedes dealership in Louisville, where the service was successfully completed in half a day and no on yelled at me. The people at James Motor Company are exactly why I will keep coming back. Sincerity, transparency, honesty and integrity. Purchased a car from JMC from out of state. There is a backlog from the county with registering the vehicle. James Motor Company attempted very little to resolve the issue and then handed the problem off to me when they told me that I needed to go to the county office and handle it, even though they sent the packet to the county, and I do not have the paperwork. Their solution is for me to stand in line for hours at the dmv and give the clerk a FedEx tracking number and hope that the clerk will issue the plate and title. JMC will not issue another temp license, so I am unable to drive the car. Bottom line - I paid a document fee and all applicable taxes to JMC and they have not performed their job. Car purchased from and regularly serviced at James...Five year old vehicle with only 42k miles. Car would not start, and would not hold charge after jump. New battery needed. Was told I'd have to wait TEN days for an appointment and that no loaner cars were available. Could not get in touch with a GM or service Mgr over a two day period of time. Finally was put through to a used car salesman who started our conversation with, "What do you expect from a car that age?" Conversation with him became increasingly bizarre, with him offering every excuse in the world as to why James Motors could not deliver as promised when I purchased the care. In addition at the time I purchased the car, I was promised weekly, free car washes and free oil changes. Interesting how the promise of these services disappeared without notice. Our main sales person was Scott Stoes who responded quickly to my emails and provided the information I requested. While the price we paid for the car was very good, the helpfulness of the staff was the deciding factor in our purchasing this car from this dealer. I contacted the sprinter division of James Motors and they put me in contact Larry Wells to help me with my MBUX system the computer system because I couldn't understand it I didn't even buy the sprinter from them , The company that did the conversion on the van into a grooming van had me get it out a Louisville but he came out and explained the whole system to me step-by-step. So very impressed with them also told me about my servicing and that he would even get me in contact with his diesel mechanic on my old sprinter. Would recommend them highly to anybody read more

So I was having an issue with my car and I called and made an appointment with Mercedes-Benz,/James . They were very kind ,helpful and friendly on the phone while making my appointment which made me pleased. When I went to my appointment, it went extra smooth !! I was greeted with a smile from a employee ,who then talked to me about how things would go. My car was almost instantly taken in to the shop/garage and started on RIGHT ON TIME ! It only took about 45 mins ,that's great !!! After it was finished I was able to speak directly with the certified mechanic that worked on my car ,cause I had a few questions. Moving to Lexington and owning a Mercedes, I had a neutral opinion of James Motors. It amazes me how whenever I hear people say anything about James it has been along the "Yeah they have a bad reputation." line. Dealing with James Motors, now I do not wonder why. Their service department is SLOW. Ten days to get an appointment for regular service? Catch up people! This is what you get dealing with the only game in town. There is a British game called "f$&@ you very much" in which you are as nasty and unhelpful as possible while ostensibly being polite. James Motors service excels at this. It is all 'please' and 'thank you' in words, but in action their attitude is 'screw you, you have no choice. '. Alternatively, I made an appointment for the same service at Mercedes of Fort Mitchell, KY. They are seeing my car when I need them to, in two days not ten. They are frank about how long the service will take, and they even want me to drive a loaner back down to Lexington, and they will drive my car down to me when it is done! The I paid downpayment of $5000 on Tuesday and the sales representative said the car will be on hold for me till following Monday. I decided to take possession of car on Friday. Too my surprize, they sold the car to someone else on Thursday. The biggest shocking thing is that they did not even bother to send me an email or text regarding it. My windshield was recently broken and I had to bring my car to the dealership to have it repaired. A third party company replaced the glass and then James Motor Company was supposed to calibrate the windshield for the lane departure to work. Since the insurance company set up the service, James Motor Company refused to give me a loaner car, even when I offered to pay for it personally. They were unprofessional and told me "it's company policy." I will never have my car serviced there again and I won't buy my next car from them. If I wanted to be treated with disrespect, I'd pay less for it. read more

2013 Mercedes Benz c300 4matic still within original factory bumper to bumper warranty. My wife and son were making a quick trip out. While they were out, the check engine light came on. The car started to run a little rough when stopped at lights. Before she was able to get home, she was putting it in park at lights and giving it a little gas. It was running like she might have gotten bad gas at some point. She only puts premium or E85 in it. Her last gas was put in at Shell in Lexington. After she got home, she had her son (26) look at it. When she turned it on it was running rougher than when she turned it off. When I got home I had them turn it on so I could hear it. It was running rough. We checked the air filter and it was good. We checked the oil and oil filter. They were both ok. While taking out the oil filter, it fits so snug that it broke a tab off of it. We soaked an oil filter in oil and put one back in because the car could not be started without one. After checking everything, we started it one more time to hear it run and it blew up. There was no reason to believe anything that detrimental was wrong with it. I did hook it up to a OBD2 Scan tool and have that data. It showed problems with the camshaft sensor. (P2540 low pressure fuel system circuit, P30300 random misfire detected, P0016 crankshaft position-camshaft position correlation bank 1 sensor A, P0301 cylinder one misfire detected, P0303 Cylinder 3 misfire detected, P0040 Oxygen sensor, P0302 Cylinder 2 misfire detected, P0012 intake camshaft timing over retarded bank 1, P0011 intake camshaft timing over advanced bank 1, numerous random misfires on cylinders) Engine was last recorded at 545 RPM's while car was in the driveway. It ran for 131 seconds. We called Mercedes Benz Roadside Assistance on 6-14-15. They sent someone to pick it up that day and delivered it to James Motor Company in Lexington, KY. Ed called us on the 15th and told us that we were trying to commit fraud and that we changed the oil filter to hide low oil pressure. I told him we had not done that. We had to put one back in. If we were tying to hide it we would have soaked it in old oil. He told me we should not have soaked it in oil and that he had never heard of it and he had worked there 29 years and 17of those as a technician. He told us we had not kept up regular maintenance. I paid for the Carfax to show him we had. . He told us that if we had used OEM parts and had the oil changed at James Motor that this would never have happened. I told him that he could not require I do that. It broke federal law under Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act. I also told him I did not feel that oil pressure had anything to do with it and explained what I thought was wrong. I did text the service person (Dustin) and have those texts. Ed told us he had turned numerous people down for warranty work for this same thing. He also told me he had never seen a car do what ours had and when the engineers came and examined the car, they would agree with his diagnosis. Ed stated that Mercedes always agreed with his decision. He called me back again and said he talked to the mechanics and they told him that you did have to soak them in oil. Now he told me that I had put it in dry and that was what had called low oil pressure. He called back again and now told me the last place to change the oil had put it in wrong. I told him it was 500 miles from the next oil change. If something like that was wrong, the issue the car had would have been immediate, not 9500 miles later Ed told us that a group of engineers would be checking our car and he would try to push it through. Another gentleman called for James Motor to "check" on us. Only told us he was glad we had called mediation and that the engineers would look at our car. I called Mediation on 6-17-16 and spoke to Brian. He took our information and told us he would mediate between James Motors and us. I called him numerous times and these were all recorded on his end. He told me he did not know anything about cars and could not speak about the engine issues. He told us engineers would be looking at our car. During our conversations, he told me that corporate was well aware of our issues and would be watching it. He finally stopped calling me back. I left numerous messages telling him if he was going to mediate I needed information. They kept our car for almost 2 weeks. On June 27th I finally called Brian back. Extension 4653. I told him nobody had ever called and he said they had turned us down. I asked him what he did to mediate and he told me he wasn't really a mediator. He was a customer care representative. My wife talked to him and told him she wanted a detailed explanation about everything they did to car. Every piece they took off, checked or test they ran. He told me they would have it at the dealer. He did not know much about cars and could not speak about engine issues. read more
