I have never had a referral happen so quickly! They had an appointment available Monday morning. Check in was quick and easy, done in just over a minute. We were called in at the appointment time. The nurse asked some questions and looked at my son's toe that was giving him some trouble. She advised what she though the treatment options would be. Dr. Thomas came in just a couple minutes later and said the same thing the nurse did. He gave us our options. I made a decision but my son was very scare of the shot and the procedure. Dr. Thomas was amazingly patient while my son had his freak out. He remained calm and tried to help me to get my son to understand what needed to be done and why. This took a good 15 minutes, but in the end Dr. Thomas did the procedure. It was over pretty quickly and my son became interested in the procedure. He answered all my son's questions about what he was doing, what tools he used, anything my son was curious about. I am truly shocked at how nice the nurse and Dr. Curt Thomas were. The fact they were also able to do this same day was more than appreciated. I really can't think of anything that could have been better. Thank you Dr. Thomas and care team!

That being said, Dr. Mayer, an accomplished rheumatologist with a consultative approach to the practice of his specialty, treats my arthritic knees with cortisone and hyaluronan injections. The condition is degenerative and will not improve over time, and the treatment is intended to relieve pain, which it has done to a reasonable extent. In addition to providing injections, Dr. Mayer has helped me understand measures I can take to slow the loss of bone and to prepare for knee replacement, which is indicated in my case. He is supportive of my weight loss regime, and has recommended exercises and therapies I can use to stay ahead of my condition. Five stars for Doctor Mayer, and for Sharp HealthCare, for offering another sterling practitioner through its network.

Dr. Hanson stands out in that environment. Many great surgeons are prima donnas. Not Dr. Hanson. He's very personable. I had both hips replaced as well as my left knee, over an 8 month period. All three went exceptionally well. According to two different physical therapists, these three joint replacement were each at the very high end of surgical quality and outstanding recovery. I'm an very pleased and very thankful.

I'm going to write a short book here, because it seems to be the only way to communicate how much I appreciate Dr. Hanson, and why. Over the years, I had met with nearly a dozen orthopaedists, gotten relief from various injections, looked at all manner of edge-therapies, had three conservative surgeries on the knee, lived with the outcomes, and eventually was advised to go ahead and get the replacement. Along the way, I observed the bedside manner of all of these doctors, noting that joint-replacement specialists, like many specialists, are, perhaps because of their training and lofty intellect, not as interested in patient communication as are most GP's. Some of them, I think, interact best with patients who are... unconscious. After doing a good deal of asking around, I was lucky to be referred to Dr. Peter Hanson at Grossmont Orthopaedic. His credentials were unbeatable, and his ratings on Yelp and elsewhere were remarkable. So, I timed my appointment with him to also satisfy my desire for a second opinion. My experience with Dr. Hanson at that appointment was so excellent that, although he truly intended only to offer a second opinion, I was nearly ready to ask him to perform the procedure himself. For a leading medical specialist, Dr. Hanson is astonishingly low-key and patient. Very approachable yes, but it's more than that. He's more like my trusted old friend taking care of me. Anyway, after yet another rushed, slightly contentious session with my other (busy, up-and-coming rockstar) specialist, I had had enough and scheduled my surgery instead with Dr. Hanson in January. On surgery day, he was a comfort both before and after the procedure. Now in my 6th week of recovery, I am delighted that I chose Dr. Hanson to perform my surgery. Although the recovery requires substantial effort, physical therapy, and some pain tolerance, my knee gets better each day. In closing, if you are lucky enough to get Peter Hanson as your joint replacement surgeon, you are in exceptionally fine hands. I cannot recommend him to you highly enough.

Dragged you into her drama. Then when you're in the hospital recovering from a surgery and you're telling her you're bleeding from your throat she keeps you on the phone talking about her dentist friend Jenn, who lost her children. And when you point out, the judge looks at crying is a point of weakness as well as emotional Distress. She suddenly does damage to your care. This woman has known for four months about my disability hearing. I have gone into our office and talked about the letter that was necessary. I've gone to my appointment with her and talked about the letter that was necessary. She told me about the letter, she was gonna write. And she's such a terrible doctor that she doesn't care about her patience. She was notified about the violence I was going through and as a mandated reporter she failed. Her license should be revoked and she should be suspended for further notice. All she had to do was her job. Write the letter seven conversations with her employees, and I had to get my walker go in there when I was having a down day for the exact thing she treats me for... She doesn't bother treating you. She doesn't do anything she's a failure. All she does is charge and charge again. Her office needs to be shut down. She's a terrible person. It's all about her. But then suddenly she's a victim. She failed on follow through. And then her office goes. Oh, but she's so busy and people that aren't nurses are being talked about to people in her office staff when she's the one who failed her patient. Don't go here. She's a drama queen. She is a terrible doctor. She will compromise your health without any concern. And she doesn't follow through. As I lie here and level 15 pain because of her fail care. This is a woman that shouldn't be a doctor. When I first started going to her, she was just as terrible, but she acted like she cared. But then there was that day after I had life or death surgery and was bleeding out of my lungs and out of my esophagus because they had to go in through there. She knew I just got out from my surgery. And a Doctor Who is being told that I was bleeding out of my throat And needed to get off the phone just kept talking. You should see the text messages about her personal life. Inappropriate for a doctor a patient should express their personal life to a doctor. And then when I spoke up for how honestly I need to be, what did she do? She nearly destroyed my case for Disability. Intentionally. This Dr deserves her license to be removed. She has known for four months about my date. She knows the level of pain I'm in. She knows how bad it is. But what does she do when you don't agree with her friend she will damage you. On purpose. She neglected to write the letter. Her staff had to go in and save her. And defend her if she's not capable of handling her clientele it's further proof don't go to this doctor. Who does that to their patient. This is a dangerous woman who shouldn't be around children or patient because if she decides she doesn't like you, she will destroy even though you're in level 15 pain. She's a terrible doctor cause she puts her own personal drama ahead of her patience. Thank God, I have a copy of it.
