OK UPDATE 2024- I think the ownership has changed. New guy. There are cars being worked on at this location now. Can't even get the car onto the test rollers because cars are being worked on on top of the test location. Told to come back because he has 8 cars he is working on. Told me to leave it for a few hours next day and then starts arguing with me as if he was going out of his way to do me a favor. Huh? He told me if I don't pass it will take even more of his time, rest assured. Dude- I just want a smog test. Get me in, test it, send me on my way. He told me to come back tomorrow, call first and "maybe" wait an hour or so before he could test. 2x Huh? What a mess. Going to find a new location after coming here for 15 years. Drove my car into their parking lot for a routine smog check and guy scraped the side of my car pulling it into his small dock in the building. Caught the damage as I was pulling out and he started yelling at me that it was probably damaged before I came in and took no responsibility. Recently changed out the battery on my car so the smog system reset itself. Long story shorts had to drive 200miles for it to restart (should've only been 100 miles but owner of the smog joint said 200) on top of having to drive 200miles he charged me $20 extra dollars to retest when I came back. I won't come back to this joint ever again. I've never paid to retest especially when nothing was wrong just had to drive the car to reset the system. read more

I'm not entirely sure about this James character. While I think he's going through the motions like a professional smog tester should, it's extremely hard to communicate with him if your car does pass with flying colors. Mine didn't and so I was told to pay the $45ish dollars now (when there's a sign that clearly says if you don't pass it's free) and to come back after driving 100 miles (apparently the car's computer system resets itself at that point) and he'll test it again. And let me tell you that it was about a 15 minute guessing game of what he was saying before I was able to get to that conclusion. I'm not sure what happens if I don't pass again, as I'm pretty sure James isn't in the business of giving refunds. Also of note, somehow he upset my radio so now I need a code to reset it, which when I went back to tell him I was now driving in silence, he stared at me blankly and told me come back after 100 miles. As a result I am now sentenced to solemn quietness on the roads for the next couple of days. Don't go to James unless you know you can pass your smog test, but even then, prob just go somewhere else. He'll get another star if this whole 100 mile situation works out. read more

Definitely would not recommend this place. Been to this place for a smog test, 1st he would ask you to drive 200 miles coz according to him it's not yet catalyst ready, we even put more than 200 miles and came back and pay for a retest but still according to him again it's not yet ready and we have to drive again & add more miles, drove again & came back, pay re test and finally catalyst is now ready but after doing the test he said we failed because of the evaporative system, there's no check engine light on but failed, is this kind of scam, just collecting money w/ negative results. read more

Been going to this smog station for years for multiple cars and every time I deal with the same man who I'm assuming owns the shop. He's always been very friendly and very fast. Usually I just walk in and finished within a half hour. Would definitely recommend coming here for smog. Usually cost me $60. read more

This place is so convenient and no-nonsense. James is great. Since it's smog test only, the process is simple: Pull up, give him your keys, and sit back on a comfy couch while your car gets tested. I get a little frazzled when it comes to car stuff and I appreciate how smoothly James' operation runs. He's a nice guy and very professional. The parking lot is a bit small, so if you're someone who gets anxious about driving in spaces where there is little room for error, then I would recommend arriving closer to opening. I got there at 11 on a Tuesday and was able to get service right away. By coincidence, I drove by the area later and noticed that it got a lot more crowded in the afternoon. But, let's be honest, good places with good service rightly attract a lot of customers. So just time your visit accordingly and all will be well. I will definitely be returning to James in two years when I need another smog check. read more

This place is very good. Mr.Kang took care of me professionally, more importantly he was nicest guy I ever met. He even checked engine oil, coolant and transmission oil for free. This place is very professional, legit place to do your smog check. If you see him, you will know. FYI Mr.Kang works on Weds/Thursdays. read more

I didn't like this guy at all. I thought he was rude and he was way over priced. He charged me 51.00 and told me if I brought the car back to be checked he would charge me another 20.00. I found another guy on Formosa by the DMV for 31.75. WHat a rip off! DOn't waste your time. read more

Smogged here twice. Once about 4 years ago with a 1988 SAAB that passed by 2 points on the first try and just today in a newer Prius. They're quick and efficient. Both times I only had to wait about 3 minutes before being helped and the smog itself is quick too. In and out in about 15 minutes! read more
