They were immediately very friendly on the phone and said they had one car ahead of me but, "Sure, come on down." Quoted me at $100 and charged me not a dime more. We were surprised to find out that this was a part of Long's. No complaints since we've trusted Long's for over 20 years for all our automotive service needs. We called on a Saturday morning around 10am and they said to come on in. When we arrived, we were next in line for the smog check, which, we were told, would take 15-20 min, by a super friendly technician. This business didn't move. It was sold to totally new owners of an auto repair shop called Longs Automotive. It's not accurate to call it a "test only" site. My car passed smog tests for 10 years at Smog One Test Only on Hyperion. I took it to the new location/ new owner and my car didn't pass smog. Once I took it to a whole different smog test place it passed fine. The positive reviews here are for the previous owners and old location. Thanks to the trusty Yelp app, a friend recently had her car smogged at Smog One Test Only and highly-recommended that I did the same for my parent's car in order to renew its registration. Recently, my go-to smog test place inexplicably shut down, so I needed to find another. With a 5-star rating (280 reviews at the time), I was more than happy to support a small local business conveniently close to me. After, my own "test drive" of this place, would I return for future smoggy business!?: Standard Smog Check ($60.00 less $10.00 with Yelp Check-in) - Usually requred every two years, this was the most frequent and simplest of inspections. FYI... they also offered STAR Certified Smog Checks if a more rigorous inspection was necessary (usually for older vehicles and those which have had issues in the past). Service - I had no appointment, simply drove up, stated what I needed, and had my Yelp Check-in offer displayed on my phone. Manny, the one-person shop owner enthusiastically greeted me, took my keys, and asked that I stayed at the outdoor waiting area which was basically a round metal schoolyard table with an umbrella. In less than five minutes, my car passed inspection, test results electronically submitted to the DMV, I quickly paid, I was good for another two years, and all I needed to do was just pay the registration fee on my end. Easy peasy. Parking (Free) - Three automotive businesses were housed in a tight corner block which all shared only a handful of spots. So, if any of these businesses got real busy, parking would be an issue. However, there appeared to be some nearby metered and timed sign-posted street parking along the main drag of Hyperion Ave. and surrounding side streets. He ran my test and told me I needed to put 100-150 miles on my car before he could send in my forms because I just had work done on my car. I had to get a smog check done to renew my car registration this year. This is the exact kind of errand I avoid like a baby until a) Matt B. nags me into action or b) I get in trouble. Last year, I carried my registration sticker in my purse for months and forgot to put it on my actual car until I got the world's dumbest most avoidable $25 ticket. (It took less than one minute to get the sticker on in the end, even including the walk to and from the garage.) With the smog check, I let my husband remind me about fifteen times and we finally went to Smog One Test Only over the weekend. I drove in on Sunday afternoon and Manny, who appears to be quite popular on this Yelp page, attended to us immediately. He told us to hang tight for about six minutes, and before we could even imagine getting impatient, the smog check was done.
