All around amazing experience. Had my baby girl's lip revised after finally realizing that was what was causing her to projectile vomit after every feeding. Not that any doctors realized this was the cause, even seeing specialists. Thank you breastfeeding group on FB! While we were there we realized my 2 yo son had a lip tie as well and a very severe tongue tie. Both kids were in and out, no complaints, no crying, no problems. So incredibly thankful for Dr.Jesse and his team! I made an appointment for my 6 week old son to have him evaluated for a lip and tongue tie (not knowing how to assess for either) and not only were they able to set an appointment the following week, once there they got us in quickly and found he did in fact have a lip tie! The procedure took about ten seconds via a local anesthetic and use of a laser, and We were in and out of there in about 30 min give or take. Dr.Jesse and his staff were very approachable making me and my son feel comfortable and answered all of my questions, they even called the next day to ensure my son was doing well. Wonderful experience with this doctor with my son. My son was about 2 weeks old when he had the procedure. He told me everything revolving around the procedure and made sure to ask me for any questions. The procedure was for my sons tongue and lip tie. It was done so quickly! I hate that I have to leave such a low rating, but just to begin with the rating is for the poor oral tie assessment. Front desk and the doctor, himself, were kind and welcoming. I just wanted to share my experience to prevent other parents from going through the same situation my daughter and I are going through. I decided to go to Dr. Jesse because I saw his name come up so many times on a group I follow on Facebook and I had heard great things about him. Mid-September, we made a drive to San Bernardino, where Dr. Jesse is located. He told me that she only had a lip tie and the procedure was done the same day, it was quick and my daughter seemed to be okay after 20min. I continued to have pain when she latched and my daughter kept showing oral tie symptoms. Eventually, my instincts told me that something still had to be wrong, so I called Dr. Jesse's office and scheduled a reevaluation. We got there and he checked her for tongue tie, but he didn't find anything--he just visually inspected this. So I continued to wait and see if it would get better, but a cousin of mine encouraged me to see a lactation consultant and I'm glad I did. Early November, I saw a LC and she told me that my daughter definitely had a tongue tie, posterior tongue tie. She mentioned she's had clients from Dr. Jesse and that he usually misses posterior tongue tie, which now I'm not surprised because he visually checked for this vs the LC, she actually pressed down on her tongue and checked my daughter's suck. This has not only caused stress to my baby girl and myself, but financial burden because now we have to go to a different pediatric dentist and pay for a procedure all over again. We took out 18 month old son because he had a severe lip attachment and tongue tie. When I called the staff was so nice. After having two unsuccessful upper lip revisions and complete denial of the posterior tongue tie I was sure he had, I brought my baby over 1000 miles to Dr. Jesse to get a 3rd opinion. Not only did the previous two doctors screw up the lip revision, but I was 100 percent right about the tongue tie. Dr. Jesse fixed both and literally the same day I was able to feed my baby without pain. Symptoms have improved drastically. This is my 4th baby seen by Dr. Jesse and I can't sing his praises enough. We were recommended by Dr. Jesse as the top doctor to fix tongue and lip ties for newborn babies. I took my newborn son to see Dr. Jesse at 5 days old because breastfeeding was incredibly painful for me and I couldn't stand it any longer. I saw a lactation consultant, but it didn't provide the relief I needed and it was still very painful. The procedure at Dr. Jesse was quick and simple. But my son cried for about an hour after the procedure and we also gave him baby Tylenol to help ease his pain. I started going to Dr. Jesse about 3 years ago when i needed a "cosmetic procedure", a veneer on one of my front teeth that was discolored. The staff at this office took X-rays and found a way to get insurance to cover the veneer(my previous dentist could not get insurance to cover it). My teeth look amazing. 6 1/2 years ago, I brought my 8 week old son into to see Dr. Jesse for a consultation. Within just a couple of minutes he told us that my boy had a severe lip and tongue tie. As soon as my son tried to latch after he was born, I knew something was off. I looked and saw a very obvious lip tie which our midwife, IBCLC, and chiropractor all identified as well. For two weeks, breastfeeding was a struggle and my son would take so much air in that he would vomit (not spit up) multiple times a day. My husband is a skeptic. He couldn't understand why all of a sudden all of these babies were being diagnosed with ties when even five years ago it seemed pretty rare. He thought it was the just the next "gluten intolerance" or whatever catchall "cause" for every ailment under the sun. Finally, he read enough to see that it was a real thing and agreed to get the tie revised. We learned through our research that midwives used to cut ties as soon as babies were born and as midwives were replaced by doctors, bottles replaced the breast. Then, as breastfeeding came back, the art of tie identification was lost and women were just told they "couldn't" breastfeed. Everyone we talked to recommended Dr. Jesse. We had friends drive from the Westside of LA to take their babies to him. Unlike ENTs who use sheers to cut the ties, Dr. Jesse uses a laser so that it's one-and-done. When we called on a Friday they were able to get us in the following Tuesday. I was so impressed by the speed in which we were able to see him! The office was FILLED with little babies when we got there. One by one nervous parents took their babies back and came out looking no worse for the wear. When it was our turn to go back, my husband and I had no idea what to expect--well, we did. We expected a doctor with an assembly line attitude to come in, quickly do his thing, and leave. We couldn't have been more wrong! Dr. Jesse was so personable. He made us feel like we were the only patients that day. He took the time to explain the procedure, really seemed to LOOK at our son, diagnose the tie (my son was on of the 10% who only had a lip tie and not a tongue tie) and calmly performed the procedure. He warned that some babies won't eat for up to 12 hours later, but my son was nursing within a few minutes. My only regret is that we waited two weeks. Next baby we'll be going in right away. Just left Dr. Jesse's office after having our 6 day old daughter's Frenectomy. Another exceptional visit! We were there 22 months ago with our son for the same issue. We were told by several pediatricians that he was a little tongue tied but not to worry about it. Well after 2 weeks of cracked nipples and a lot of crying my husband researched and found Dr Jesse. He said our son had the top ten worst tongue tie he'd ever seen and a double lip tie that would have impaired his speech and caused a gap tooth. Super great pediatric dentist. Came here for my son's lip tie after almost giving up on Breastfeeding. Thanks to the women from the Cleavage Club (FB group) this Dentist was recommenced. He was super friendly and personable. Very throughout and doesn't make you feel rushed. They called us the next day to ensue my son was doing well which I appreciate. For those that want to know (I know there are some of you that do) .... 1) They do use a numbing agent which is good bc I'd hate for my little guy to be in pain. 2) They use laser which is a huge plus. 3) The procedure only takes a seconds 4) Be aware that after a few weeks of age, your little one most likely developed poor latching habits so it takes a while to notice the difference as they need to learn their new unrestricted mouth. 5) I almost felt guilty for getting the procedure done because I didn't notice a difference right away even though I was told it may take a while. But rest a sure, a few weeks later it's like feeding a new baby! Now we're ready to start our new BF journey together 6) It's okay to cry during the 30 second procedure. ***PICTURES BELOW*** My son's pediatrician suggested Dr. James Jesse, a supposed reputable doctor, to perform my son's frenectomy seeing that he was severely tongue-tied and lip tied. First impression was not good. He didn't seem to be good with kids and he had zero bedside manner. The procedure went as follows: my husband bear hugged my son down, with the help of two other nurses, and I held his legs down. He applied a local anesthetic to the top of his gums and under his tongue and then waited a short while before injecting some more numbing agent. He made us all wear glasses during the surgery. My son was screaming bloody murder, in a way I have never heard him scream before. He was obviously in pain, for reasons I will have discovered later. The surgery felt like it took forever. It was very hard to watch my son so uncomfortable and wailing the way that he was. There was a strong scent of burning flesh, which added to the traumatizing experience. It wasn't until two days later that I noticed a noticeably large mark on my son's tongue. It looked EXACTLY like the surgery site located under the tongue- same texture, same color and everything- but the mark was on the top of my son's tongue on his right side, far from where the laser should have cut. Needless to say, I was irate. Careful to approach the situation correctly, I returned the next day and spoke to the doctor- calmly, but sternly. The way I was treated when I came back in was unbelievable! DR. JESSE came in, looked at the huge mark on his tongue and said "Yep, he bit himself. 6 times." I told him that I thought it was a burn and he patted me on the back on his way out and replied "Okay, doctor". I was in disbelief. This doctor would not even hear what I had to say, showed zero empathy and ridiculed me in front of his staff! Then he hid in the back of his office and never came back out, but instead left his nurse in the room with me to argue with me for the next 15 minutes. THE NURSE JANE and I went back and forth. First she was calm but when I continued to put my foot down, she became rude and kept insisting that it was a bite. Her reasoning was that "any wound in the mouth looks the same". She also said "DID YOU DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE YOU CAME IN HERE? DID YOU GOOGLE IT?" in the most rude way possible. At this point, I was pissed. I asked her why she was arguing with me and where the doctor was, since he should have been in there, ADMITTING HIS MISTAKE and at the very least APOLOGIZING. Instead, he literally hid in the back of his office, nowhere to be found. I knew I was getting no where and the last thing I wanted to do was start cussing the staff out, so I went to the front desk and asked for a hard copy of all the legal documents I signed before the surgery. DENISE AT THE FRONT DESK, who was rude from the very start, just shook her head at me and said, "YOU'RE OVER REACTING". WOW. I think I have every right to react the way that I did, considering it is my damn CHILD that they injured. I work at a hotel and I have gotten yelled at and cussed out over the smallest things like the TV remote control not working, and never in my 7 years of customer service experience have I ever said "YOU'RE OVER REACTING". I am seriously in awe. My husband and I will never stop feeling bad for what we made our son go through and will forever feel guilty for going taking him to Dr.Jesse. It was a terrifying, traumatizing, humiliating experience I never want to go through again. The VERY least they could have done was give me a sincere apology and my money back so it wouldn't feel as if I paid $800 to hurt my child. And as for the "bite", you can look at the picture and make that judgment yourself and choose whether or not you want to go to Dr. Jesse. Whether it be a Bite or burn, The way my family and I were treated should be enough to deter ANYONE away from this horrible place. read more

We drove 7 hours each way to have Dr. Jesse do a lip revision on our 15 month old son. I was petrified to say the least. I had no idea what to expect, how torturous it would be, etc. Needless-to-say, it was all so simple in the end. We arrived, filled out normal paperwork, went into a very state of the art room. Sat with our son in the dentists chair. They used a Q-tip to numb his lip, a few minutes later they numbed it with a needle (he didn't notice), put some glasses on him and we all held him down. Dad was bear-hugging him in the chair, I held his legs, and a nurse held his head. The laser took all of 30 seconds. At one point I asked "Are we going to start" and Dr. Jesse said "We are done". The laser is whisper quiet. There are no smells (i.e. burning flesh). Our son cried his eyes out due to being held down. The minute we all let go, he was quiet and even smiled. We left 5 minutes after that. He healed beautifully. Our insurance paid 80% of the $450 procedure. I know they will give a discount if your child needs a tongue AND lip tie revision. There are folks on the Tongue Tie Group in Facebook who will bash Dr. Jesse for not performing more tongue ties. We as moms like to self diagnose. Dr. Jesse's methodology is "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Now, could he miss some tongue ties? Maybe. So if you truly feel your child has a tongue tie when you see Dr. Jesse, bring a list of reasons why you feel this way and sit down and walk him through it. He's not unreasonable at all. He just doesn't want to put a child through a procedure they are not showing symptoms of. BTW, he's got a great sense of humor and the staff is super sweet. read more

He was great. I was a anxious going in for my sons lip and tongue tie. Turns out he only had lip tie. They gave him a topical numbing and a numbing injection. He then used the laser to cut his lip tie. He explained what complications the lip tie could lead to and helped ease our worry. The tongue was okay. DDS told us by 2 weeks vast improvement. Between 3-5 days a some improvement and by 7 days should be completely healed. Also, gave us lip exercises to do. He was super personable and very Funny. This mama is relieved!!! I had taken my daughter here about 2 years ago when she had her tongue and lip tie to be corrected. Although this was my my only experience with frenectomy and I don't have anything to compare it to, all together it was a great experience. This appointment was for my 1 year old. I first e-mailed Dr. James a photo of my daughter's lip tie, he responded within 24 hours. So I called to make an appointment, I asked a few questions about how long it would take, etc, the lady on the phone was knowledgeable. I was even able to get an appointment within the next week. I left Orange County around 9:15 and hit NO traffic both way, so if you are coming from Orange County an appointment at 10:30-11:15 would be ideal. I signed a couple of forms and was let into the room with my 1 year old. The nurse told us what would happen, what to expect and how to hold down my daughter. Dr. James came in within a few minutes, he took a look inside my daughters mouth, said she only had a lip tie and then explained everything to me. He was extremely thorough, you could tell this was very routine for him and his staff. After he put a little numbing gel on my daughter we waited about 3-4 mins and we held her down again, he gave her the anesthetic shot, and did the laser in under a minute. My baby girl was crying the whole time from being held down, rather than pain, which was expected. But it literally lasted less time than getting shots done at the doctor. Very quick, informative, knowledgeable and professional. He also said it will not grow back because he lasers to the bone? Not sure what he said honestly, but that was interesting because my friend's daughter JUST got it done at a different dr. in Redlands and he said there is a possibility of growing back so you have to do the exercises for about 2 weeks. Dr. James said lip exercises for only 5 days. So not sure if there is a difference in the way they do the laser or what. But I guess we shall see if it does grow back. Really wish I had known my baby had a lip tie when she was born, would have made life SO much easier!! If you are thinking about getting it done, its totally worth it. Dr. Jesse did lip and tongue tie revisions on both of my little ones. He is extremely skilled and such an overall great professional to work with. The first time we visited his office nearly 4 years ago, he explained in detail the process and benefits of revising my daughters tongue and lip tie. She was 5 weeks old and breastfeeding was extremely painful up until that point. My daughter could not latch, and could barely open her mouth to breastfeed. I was so determined to breastfeed and after doing tons of research I decided to contact Dr. Jesse's office. And I'm glad I did. He successfully performed the revisions for my daughter and then nearly 4 years later for my son. Breastfeeding my children has been a complete success all thanks to Doctor Jesse.
