I love the studio but a few issues. 1) during the winter it is WAY too cold floors are not heated; however, during the summer it is perfect 2) I love the teachers but wish they can abstain from their religious views on gods and goddesses- it's as if they want to convert us! I am here for yoga for the physical practice not to change my beliefs!! I try to be spiritual as well but do not believe in Hinduism so wish the instructor can focus on teaching yoga and not giving a story of the religion -feels almost imposing! 3) other than that great studio and If only they abstained from mentioning their religious beliefs I think I would have given 4/5!!! After all, we are paying you for the classes- it is not like you are coming to my class and I preach about Christianity or my Muslim faith- I hope in no way this comes off offensive but I believe that if I am paying for a service- or practice/ Physical activity- religion should not be mentioned or preached. That is like me coming to your biology class or piano lesson class and preaching about whatever it is...let's focus on the postures and refrain from mentioning of goddesses and gods that not all people may believe in- just my opinion. The studio space is massive compared to others in the area and extremely clean. As soon as you walk in you feel welcomed by all. The entire vibe of the studio is incredibly inviting and not something I have ever experienced before in other studios in Bergen county. It feels like a true community of great people with no judgment. Rachel the owner is wonderful. She is so sweet and extremely experienced in her practice and makes a point to learn who all her students are. Giving relaxing, yet unique and strong classes. I try my best to catch her classes when I can. Erica is also incredible. Her classes are vibrant and fun, while providing a true yoga experience with dharma, guided breath work and movement at your pace. She makes sure to say hello and chat with all her current and new students before every class. I am literally mind blown every time with how personable everyone is. I have also taken Danielle and Josh and both are equally amazing as well. I have never been able to find a studio with multiple instructors I love and I knew when I did at Flow I found my yoga home. This yoga studio is an absolute gem and has given me such an amazing experience over the past few months I am going to classes upwards of three times a week, which I have never done in the 10 years I've practiced. I look forward to every single class. They offer many classes throughout the week, mainly heated vinyasa. I've never taken a class with an instructor I didn't like. All staff is extremely kind, welcoming, and knowledgeable. The studio is always very clean and well kept. Super zen vibe the moment you walk in. I prefer this studio to the Mahwah location, but they're both very inviting. Highly recommend this studio for challenging flows and great mind-body connection. I appreciate how the classes here aren't "workout" focused as a lot of other studios are. You definitely sweat, but the main intention of the class is to move with your breath and do actual yoga!

They have a variety of classes for beginners and advanced practitioners alike, and at every class I go to they offer modifications or add-ons to poses so that you can really adjust to what your body needs that day. The studio is incredibly clean and beautifully maintained. Walking into the studio puts me at ease immediately. There are also zero judgments at Blackbird. At other studios I felt judged if I couldn't go into a headstand or some other inversion, and there is none of that at Blackbird. It is an encouraging environment, which is so perfect for yoga. The studio also offers workshops outside of the regular classes if you want to delve into your practice a little deeper. Another thing I noticed is how at every class, even if it is the same type of class, it is never exactly the same. There is always variety. I've been practicing yoga for two years now and in the few months that I started at Blackbird I saw a noticeable improvement in my practice. There are poses that I thought I would never be able to do or hold for more than a breath that I now do with ease. It's really amazing. Another great thing about Blackbird, especially for NYC commuters like myself, is that they have evening classes! I'm able to go to work, get home and not have to rush like a crazy person to get to class on time. It's rad. For everything that Blackbird offers, the price is amazing too. Before coming to Blackbird I was hopping around at different studios, trying to find the best fit for me. I had been trying for two years to find a 'home studio'. I knew two minutes into my first class at Blackbird that I found that studio.
