Started this review on my Yelp mobile app, like, a year (more?) ago...but finishing now. What a hidden awesome place. Found it through yelp when doing an odd errand in the unfamiliar area. Such a pretty place. Can't remember what I ate though I gave it 5 stars that day, with the reminder to review on my app. I do remember being impressed with the menu, having fine service and couldn't have been a bad meal since I'd remember that. Since I'm a pretty good cook, my main goal when eating out is atmosphere and service - and at least above-average food, and not too weird like too many New American restaurants try to do for snobbish impressions. We were in the area for an event and were looking for a place to meet up with friends for lunch. Jamison Publik House was close by, and once we looked at their menu and beer list online, we knew we had to try it What an awesome meal. From the second we walked in the staff was friendly and attentive. The place is very nice on the inside, not cluttered but tasteful and comfortable. The food was all cooked perfectly and was beyond delicious. The beer selection was obviously put together with a lot of thought and had something for everyone. We were able to just hang out and relax, and were not rushed at all. This was our 2nd visit, the food was great and so was service. Our appetizer of flat bread with fiddlehead fern, goat cheese and bacon was delightful. The main courses came out pippin hot, which is very important. The flavor combinations of the scallops gave my taste buds a run for the money! The service is marginally welcoming. I've been there 5 times in the last two months, and you'll need a reservation or find a bar seat. The lobster pot pie was uneventful and not worth 21 dollars. So far our only go to entres are the filet mignon or ribeye. I'm only giving three stars because of the service, value and variety. The manager, however, is pleasant and helpful. read more

Awesome old fashioned service with a menu to kill. This is the type of restaurant that makes most seem bland and without proper culinary talent. Upscale culinary skill meets old fashioned gastropub menu. I ordered crab cakes for the appetizer and the filet mignon for entree. Two words to describe the experience...simply perfect. I love this place! I have been here several times for lunch and twice for dinner and the food is always delicious and top quality. The servers are knowledgeable and accommodating, and the bar and beer selection are right on. We arrived at 5:15pm to meet another couple for dinner. No patrons were there yet, but the hostess didn't waste any time telling me to put my mask up over my nose. After dinner our guest got up to use the restroom and forgot his mask. The hostess reminded him so he returned to our table to get it. When he returned from the restroom the manager Steven followed him. He was dressed all in black including his mask. He proceeded to lecture us in such a loud voice that everyone in the restaurant could hear him. He certainly wanted the stage to tell us why we had to wear masks in spite of the fact that we just spent two hours dining without them on. Whether you believe in masks or not, it was not in his place to loudly chastise our guest especially after having spent the last 3 weeks Covid closed. You'd think he'd appreciate the $300 in business we gave him! By the way, the food was average, but there are many other good restaurants in the area where we are treated as valuable patrons. Not a criticism as the place rocks in atmosphere, service, and selections. But skip the Lobster pot pie. it sounds great and my pals all wished they got it, but by meal's end our positions reversed. There are a few delicious lobster bites but sparse for the cost and otherwise not much flavor or contents beside baked crust. i am looking forward to the next visit to match an app with a pub sandwich for a great $20 meal! read more

Went to Jamisons on Valentine's Day. Food was we quite good, a bit pricey, but not out of line for the quality. Very fresh ingredients, prepared with a high level of skill in a very charming establishment. Would definitely go again when in the area. read more

The food was average - some of us had better meals than others - but the service and attitude were both terrible. The first waitress/hostess inside apparently didn't want to seat anyone outside. It was a little overcast but certainly comfortable enough for outdoor dining. First we were told the seats were wet (they were not even damp) and when that didn't deter us, she told us with a huff we'd have to wait because they didn't set the outside up yet. We met another waitress out by the patio who also made it obvious she wasn't pleased to be waiting on anyone. The menus and silverware were left in a pile on the table and the few times she spoke she stayed several feet away from the group while mumbling under her mask. It was difficult to hear her and the service was poor. We needed drinks refilled which was never even offered, the service from start to finish was painfully slow and the demeanor very unfriendly. The patio out back has a lot of potential to be beautiful but that was as unkempt and unwelcoming as the wait staff. We won't be back. read more

Despite charming historic atmosphere, delicious food&initial service I have to give only a two star review. Went today for "girls" lunch out, 5 adults&2children who I must add were extremely well behaved. Once our initial waitress served us our orders&refilled our alcohol drinks she was done her shift. Our experience with her was wonderful! Then came the resident grouch of the place, don't know his name but he never fails to be rude, condescending&nasty. We went there for lunch, spent a lot of money for the outing&several rounds of alcohol drinks plus several desserts to share. The guy was nasty,rude&totally ignorant -same as he always is!! So bad that my 3yr old grandson asked why that guy was so mean!! He treated us like we were a total inconvenience&bother despite the fortune we paid for lunch. You need to work on his attitude for sure! Plus, he took money from my daughter who wanted to pay for last rounds of drinks&dessert not knowing that her mother inlaw&friend already paid him, BOTH of them!! We were beyond delighted with our meal here. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was amazing. They have some unique drinks, including the Lavender Lemon Martini. Very tasty! They make their own salad dressings, Green Tea Lavendar and Maple Balsamic among the most unique (both were yummy). A small dinner salad is included with dinner, which I personally appreciate. For the appetizer, we shared the Marscapone Bacon and Arugula dip. I stopped just short of licking the bowl it was that good!!! I had the lamb shank and my husband ordered the special veal chop. We both cleaned our plates. Portion sizes were perfect leaving us full but not feeling like we had to pack any for home or explode! From the reviews, I expected amazing things while dining here. I will admit - their bacon & mascarpone dip is quite tasty, and they serve a perfect crème brulee, but everything else I have had here in between those two was just OK. Holy mackerel this place is awesome!! I was shooting skeet and trap with a buddy and we needed to grab some chow so we stopped in at Jamison. The food and service blew our minds. Expectations weren't just surpassed they were obliterated by bite after bite of delicious, beautifully prepared and presented food. This place could run with the best in old city Philly. My friends and I stopped at the Jamison Public House last night, which I might add that all of us are 50 and above in age. We wanted to have a drink and appetizer at the bar. We arrived at 5:15 pm but unfortunately there were no open seats at the bar. We were told that since there were no open seats and we didn't have a reservation we were not welcome to even stand at the bar! So incredibly sad. Not only did the bar and bartender lose much money in drinks and food but we will never go back! Also in the mix of our group was a president of a company and a dentist. I have never felt more embarrassed having to leave a restaurant ever in my life. read more

Great food, awesome service. Don't have a single bad thing to say. I had the classic angus burger with fries and the peanut butter chocolate dessert. Everything was excellent. BF had the onion ring appetizer - big fat onions inside, very good! And the eggplant parm entree. Ice cream with chocolate ganache for dessert. He was pleased with everything. He also had a long island iced tea which was as good as you would make for yourself - generously served in a pint glass. Pub fare is pretty inexpensive ($9.50 for a burger with fries which isn't much more than fast food!!). Entrees are a bit more pricey - in the $20 to $30 range, but well worth it. Desserts are made in house and it shows, love a restaurant that takes the time to make good dessert! A great place to go out regularly (stick to the sandwiches) OR have a nice meal out (go for apps, entrees and dessert). Service was very attentive and personal. Our waiter was Chris, and this was the first time I had gone. I grew up in the area (away for 10 years) but my family has since moved. My parents flew in so we stopped by to give it a shot, literally. The vodka and gin is distilled locally and the cuisine and hospitality are incredible. Let your friends know, this place is a hidden gem (also because Google maps takes you to the wrong place). Enjoy and keep these people in business, they deserve it. read more

Three star review due to below average service. Had a family birthday dinner here. There were five of us. Server was slow to come around, take order and deliver drinks. After we ordered app and drinks, While ordering dinner the server gave a look of annoyance my mom didn't order a meal since she and I were splitting something. Neither one of us were extremely hunger and I live out of town so leftovers would be wasted. I didn't like feeling scolded for our order especially since people were drinking wine and we got an app, the bill would still be high for her tip if that was the issue. Then someone at the table asked for rolls. We were told they were in oven but she'd check. Sometime later Three rolls were served for five people. The server said they were the last three but I saw her bring a table that sat after us two bowls full of rolls just moments before bringing ours? Overall I thought the food was great but the look of annoyance, not seeing server smile once and getting lied to about rolls earned this place three stars. We have been dining at the Jamison since they opened. The food is fantastic, along with the adult beverages. They switch up the menu and beverages so you won't get tired of the same old menu. First let me start by saying I never feel the need to write reviews regardless of how good or bad the restaurant was but I am making an exception this time. My husband and I have been to this restaurant two other times and had good food and good service. However last night we went with friends of ours and the service was horrible. It took one hour just to get our salads and asked if we wanted anything else to drink and when the waitress came out she knew we were upset but never once did she apologize for the delayed service believe it or not she actually got an attitude with us for the remainder of the night Her manager came out and apologized for the delay but she never did once. When our meals finally came out, two hours after we had sat down at the table, the food was dry. I had mashed potatoes that were so dry I had to keep drinking water. The other couple we were with both had red snapper and they said they couldn't believe how dry it was. They said the taste was delicious but it was very dry. We decided to say something to the manager and he said he read us wrong he thought we were there just to sit back and relax so they were not rushing the food we told him we were there to sit back and relax but we did expect our food sooner than two hours after we got there. we never were served our dinner till 930 and had a 7:30 reservation. I think it's funny how the manager came out and apologized while we were waiting for the food but then he said oh he just read us wrong and they were not rushing the food. We are so upset that we wasted $140 per couple on terrible service and so so food. If the waitress would have been apologetic and the food was good when it did come out we would feel differently today. Needless to say the four of us will never go back there again. read more
