I have been using Dr Lawrence Gottesman as a dentist since approximately 1983. Besides being an…read moreexcellent Dentist, Larry and I became friends, as did our wives. Larry is incredibly intelligent and I value his opinion on more than just dentistry. Last October, I had bi-lateral partial knee replacement. My right knee recovered well, but 7 months post op, my left knee was still a work in progress. I made an appointment with my surgeon from Hospital for Special Surgery for a consult. He advised me to get xrays before the appointment. I went to Zwanger Pesiri on Long Island and their radiologist in his report stated that both knees looked great. I asked Larry to look at my left knee xrays. After studying the xrays for a few minutes, Larry pointed out that there was a void where there shouldn't have been one. At the surgeon's office the following week, the Physician's Assistant came in glowingly and said, we looked at your xrays and everything looks good and is progressing nicely. Just give it more time! I then said that my dentist looked at the xrays and noticed something Under his breath, he said, "your dentist" and I responded, "yes, my dentist." He looked at the spot that Larry pointed out and the PA turned white. He said, "that's certainly a matter of concern" and that he would be right back with the surgeon. He returned with the surgeon and after taking additional xrays at the hospital, it was obvious that I needed to have a total knee replacement. The device that was put in had slipped and that was the reason I was still having problems. Thank G-d for Dr. Larry. I am scheduled for my replacement surgery in 2 weeks. I give Dr Gottesman 5 stars for being a great dentist, great friend and being able to read xrays better than the Zwanger Pesiri Radiologist.
