Case in point: After buying a new set of 7-UW irons several months ago, I came back to get fitted for a new driver (to match my gorgeous new irons, so I thought...). After 2 hours of watching me hit balls, analyzing my swing, and throwing in a lot of great coaching, he kindly and gently advised to work on my swing (apparently a driver swing is completely different than with an iron. Who knew?) and see if I can correct some of my inconsistencies. To be fair, I'm coming back to golf after a 5 year hiatus and 3 joint replacement surgeries, so I'm a mess. However, Dave ended saying he would not feel comfortable selling me a $500-700 driver that may not give me the best performance (because of my swing). That was after 2 hours of his full attention. I never heard back until I reached back out 4 days later. I then reached back out a few days later to move forward with my fitting and I again didn't hear back from anyone for a week. I called again to communicate my frustrations at this point, and my fitter was not available so someone took a message and said I would get a call back the next day. Still nothing as I write this. I find it very perplexing that I can't give my money away. In addition to all this, I was sent an email from club champion to activate my account online. When I tried doing that, I kept getting an error and I reached out to Club Champion at info@clubchampiongolf.com and no one responded. On top of all this, I also had dropped off a club to repair during my driver fitting and was told it would be done in 48 hours. I never got a call back about it and when I called 4 days later to get it back, I was told it would be done that day which means it would not have been done had I never called. All in all, I've spent close to $5000 in fitting with club champion and unfortunately, I don't think I could go back again knowing these experiences and would take my money to the PGA Superstore.

So yes, I have taken a full and complete look at this business and my experiences with it and simply had a different experience than others. I took lessons here awhile back and have recently been taking lessons at a different business recently. The lessons at My Chicago Golf started out well. Marcus was attentive and was able to make a difference in my game. Things were going well. That is, until, he slept through one of our scheduled appointments. His system sends out numerous reminders about upcoming appointments to customers. Unfortunately, it seems that it only sends them out to his customers, and not to him. We had an appointment scheduled, and I showed up fifteen minutes early. His storefront was locked, and knocking and ringing the doorbell did not yield any type of response. Unfortunately, emailing, texting, and leaving voicemails also did not make a difference either as they all went unanswered. After waiting about forty-five minutes for a sixty minute lesson, he finally opened the door. At that time, however, the customer for the next hour was already waiting at the door! That customer was courteous enough to let me use his scheduled hour, and he rescheduled with Marcus. As the lesson went on, Marcus did apologize for sleeping through it. He said that he overscheduled himself that morning, which caused him to oversleep during a nap. He was definitely drowsy throughout the appointment, and wasn't entirely alert or focused on my swing. What disappointed me the most, however, was that he didn't take responsibility for his mishap. Mistakes happen to everyone. Apologizing is only the first step in taking responsibility for those mistakes. He didn't offer an extra free lesson or a refund, or anything for that matter, to make up for his major mistake. This last part that is why he is losing two stars. If he would have taken responsibility for his failures, I wouldn't be as disappointed with him. I even would have used the final lessons I had in the package I purchased. Instead, I let them go unused because I was so let down by him. Missing an appointment completely without notice and/or an acceptable reason is a huge negative and a large problem. These lessons are not cheap. What's even worse is not taking responsibility for it. Mistakes can be overlooked, if the person making those mistakes owns up to them and takes responsibility. Unfortunately that didn't happen here.

Additionally, his location is a fantastic setup with some of the newest golf simulator technology to really enhance the lesson experience. I did a fair amount of research on different golf instructors and facilities in Chicago and am thrilled I landed on My Chicago Golf. I can't recommend Marcus and My Chicago Golf enough.

I was not able to hit the ball the way he recommended with my back issues and the muscle memory of my current swing. By the end of the lesson i was saying i just can't make that move and he was recommending more lessons to fix. I got zero out of this lesson other than less confidence. I understand it's a business but this was the opposite of what i asked for. In short i walked out pretty discouraged on my swing overall. I played a 15 handicap last year and play about 2/week for reference.

While their competitor took 4 days to complete my grip install last summer, these guys had it done by next morning - I dropped them off the afternoon before. They also saved my older grips. I wanted them because they had a unique design. I ended up having them put the saved grips on my wedges. I've had great experiences shopping here as well. I was recently gifted a set of golf clubs from my nephew.  And I haven't golfed in like 30 years,…read morebut that fact didn't deter him from gifting it to me, lol.   Well, if and before I hit up any golf courses, I first need to hit up a driving range, and so here I am on this day, and there will be need for more sessions lol.   This facility has a nice driving range setup.  I really don't know if it's tip-top state of the art, but it's plenty good.  They actually have 4 separate driving ranges.  3 of them are built into the back of their main building and on 3 separate levels - their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors actually.   The bays in these ranges used to have member card readers, but these were recently replaced with keypads that use a registered user online account to charge your prepaid account for the number of balls hit. Each bay has automated ball and tee dispensers which is quite nice, and it's like being spoon-fed your tee shots!  The 4th station is in a grass area where you can hit naturally off the grass.  The current cost is 21.8 cents per ball on the grass.  On the driving range bays, it's 13.0 cents per ball for seniors.  It's a high tech and convenient operation here and their driving range ball rates seem reasonable, so it's a big thumbs up from me and the facility certainly met my needs.

Used it ONCE within 5 days and found multiple defects: 1 Bag is way too heavy, poor design 2 Wheels are unbalanced, doesn't roll straight 3 No brakes - when taken off the cart, it slides away and hit my foot Today is September 8th, and I came to return or exchange the golf bag with all tags still attached. When I tried to return it, the owner REFUSED, saying "the wheels have signs of use." Let me ask: What am I supposed to do with a WHEELED golf bag if I can't roll it on the ground? Carry it in my arms everywhere? And seriously -- when you buy a suitcase from a store, do you carry it out in your arms? No, you roll it. Same logic applies to a wheeled golf bag. That's literally what wheels are for! So their claim that 'wheels show signs of use' is completely invalid. To make it worse, the owner also said "it can't be resold after being used" and that refunding me would be "cheating the next customer." So do you throw away every hat, shirt, and pair of shoes that customers try on in your store? Hypocritical nonsense. I was planning to buy an On Off driver today. They're charging the latest model price, but I'm not sure if this club is actually the latest model. So I decided to forget about it. Not only are there quality issues with the products, but the after-sales service is completely unreliable, and the pricing isn't honest either. Everyone, please be very careful. The golf center should consider replacing the golf shop called "Dream Shop."it's a nightmare!
