While she was cutting my hair she asked if it was curly. I said yes. My hair is naturally curly. Which when it's wet you should be able to tell. The cut is great she kept my length and did exactly what I asked except when it got to the blow dry. She pulled out a curling brush and the hair dryer had that one nozzle on it that makes a thin stream of hot air. I told her specifically do not straighten my hair. And she said no she was going to curl it. So I let it go. My hair came out straight except for a couple little flips at the bottom. That is not curly. If you dry my hair for 5 seconds and just run your fingers through it it curls all by itself I told her not to straighten my hair to me this is straight. And that is the biggest pet peeve of mine I have naturally curly hair so I like to show it off after a fresh cut.

Although the woman I met was so polite and kind and very professional and just overall a sweetheart, she was also honest with me and let me know that she cannot straighten my hair because it's too curly for her. Which, I guess I can understand. I'd rather her be honest with me then take my money and leave me with a bad cut or style. So if you're like me and looking for someone who can deal with your texture this place wouldn't be ideal but for those with thinner, or just straighter hair, you'll love this place! For a fraction of the cost, Esther gave me the cut I wanted and styled my hair. She also gave me great tips on how to care and style it. However, I think she would do well with ANY HAIR. Jen the receptionist is so personable and I am so glad she recommended Maryanne for my hair. This salon uses "pure" products such as Deva Curl (for hair like my own)...no sulfates or ingredients that are unnecessary (such as those that make lather).
