The play area I'd say os good for ages 6 and under but, maybe some 8-10 years old kids can find joy too. They have a nice picnic area in the spacious grass and not too many tree obstacles to fly a kite too, or even navigate an RC drone or toy without electrical or utility wires either. The bleachers near the baseball field were typical of the other Redondo Beach parks...comfortable enough to sit on for a couple of hours. But no shade, so wear a hat and sunglasses. There was an enclosed senior center also. Didn't get to see inside, but it's a nice benefit for the residents.

I found plenty of free street parking across the street and all around the neighborhood instead. After nearly getting hit by a car a few times and getting approached by an intoxicated looking homeless or two, we finally made it to the park. And then that's when we discovered that the place is NOT DOG FRIENDLY. Omg! At first, I thought I saw the signs wrong and had to actually go up close to it. I also witnessed a bunch of other dog owners walking around the park with their dogs but many had them not leashed. That's when it dawned on me why the park has a no dog allowed policy. It's honestly very infuriating when people are so blatantly disrespectful about park policies and other people's safety. Not to mention the dog shit everywhere that really shouldn't have been there. Ugh. And that was enough of LA County shenanigans for me that day.

There are lots of high and climbable structures. The grassy area is huge so kids can roam freely. The grassy area is hilly but there are flatter areas that are good for picnics too. They have picnic tables and there is plenty of parking. There's a tennis court, baseball field and bathrooms. It feels private and is away from traffic/cars. The bad: The parking lot is gravel/dirt so it can get pretty dirty with puddles on a rainy day. The interesting: There are hills surrounding it with homes. You can also see horses. There are also a lot of crows. You need to fill out a park permit if you're hosting an event here with 20+ people.

Polliwog is the largest park in all of the South Bay and a great park for a walk. Note - Manhattan Beach is pretty strict with large parties at the park- so you will need to reserve if you're hosting a party. Overall it's a fun park that's a perfect spot for picnics, nature sight seeing and chill days.
