Absolutely would NOT use Jansen Shutters & Windows again. Had a hurricane impact door installed. The salesperson said all the right words and was very enthusiastic; however, those were just that-- WORDS!!! The installed door has never been right. It was installed without being leveled, could see through the sides to the outside in several areas as it was not properly fit, and was informed by another window company that the impact glass is backwards. Had called at least 4 times to have the door "fixed", adjusted, corrected. To this day, this extremely expensive impact door is still not right. Furthermore, the hardware purchased was not correct and day of install was forced to purchase a "special" hardware kit from Jansen costing $600!! Insane!! The handles to that pricey hardware set jiggle, and it is not a tight fit. Extremely disappointed and overall a massive, frustrating experience. Never heard back from the salesperson asking if all went well after the job was so called completed. Additionally, when calling their office to have installers come back out to correct the fit of the door, was made to feel like it was a bother. Customer service & follow through beyond lacking!! Take your business to Advanced Windows & Doors. Speak to Al Salazar--straight up, honest, true to his word, no nonsense install (incredibly talented installers), and his follow through was spot on for our hurricane impact window project (12 windows)! He's present, excellent communication throughout, and upholds his 5-star company rating. I have Armor screens from Jansen for a little over a year now and they are constantly not working. I have had multiple service calls for the same thing. They come out and fix them and after a couple ups and downs the same problem exists. They are very nice about coming out but it is a huge inconvenience and extremely irritating. I would think twice before purchasing. read more

Jansen handled the damage that our home sustained in September 2022. It took them a while to get to the project but once it was started it got completed without any issues and the workmanship was top notch. The two guys who worked on it were very professional and did an excellent job. I would not hesitate to recommend them. The price seemed right in line with others who had similar work done. I used Jansen because their quote was in line with others, the sales rep was honest, friendly and professional and I got a recommendation that was very good. My husband and I have had 2 different occasions to work with Jansen and we very pleased with both jobs. First, last year we had accordion shutters installed across the back of our lanai. The job was easy to arrange with sales rep Russ H. The installation was beautiful and very well done...just perfect. This year after hurricane Ian we had to replace 2 windows and we also bought more shutters. Not surprisingly with so much damage in the area from the hurricane, it took longer for the job to get done but it was completed and we are very happy and satisfied with the quality of the products and the installation. Let me start off by saying that this is the first negative review I've left a company and I didn't leave this review without giving this some thought. I bought a townhouse recently that was built in 2017. Jansen Shutters designed, built, and installed the handrails on my multistory townhouse. When I bought it a few months ago, I discovered that the handrails were pulling out of the wall. About half of the anchor points of the handrails were only installed into drywall, not stud or blocking. The technician that originally installed them did not even use wall anchors to secure the handrail into the drywall. The screws were put directly into drywall with nothing else holding the handrail to the wall. That fact is unbelievable, as even towel hooks and other small fixtures are secured using wall anchors. This is obviously both dangerous and not up to code. When I reached out to Jansen about my issue, they said my warranty was expired (I just bought the house a few months ago from the original owner so I wasn't aware of a warranty), and that they would need to charge me $175 an hour to have a technician fix the problem. I agreed to the rate, but felt they should have stood behind their product and poor installation and offered to fix it for free (or at a more reasonable rate). The technician was very nice, but clearly young and inexperienced. Certainly not worth 175$ an hour. He was supposed to show up between 10am-1pm and didn't arrive until 2:40pm. Jansen did not even give me a heads up that he would be late. I had to ask you twice what his ETA was. The technician partially fixed the problem by placing plastic anchors into the drywall. This is a temporary fix and Jansen well knows that. My handrail is already pulling out again and need to be secured to studs. I understand that this problem could be 100% Jansen's fault, or could have also been the fault of the builder of my townhouse if they didn't put studs or blocking where Jansen needed it when the house was built. However, even if that's the case, it doesn't excuse Jansen installing a handrail directly into drywall, without even using wall anchors. I paid the invoice for the inexperienced technician (at $175 / hour) because I agreed to do so, but I'm really disappointed. Here's a picture of one of the anchors already pulling out of the drywall again, a day after their technician put the plastic anchors in. You can see the anchors their technician tried putting into the drywall to hold the railings. I'm not sure what my next steps are to get this issue resolved and I reached out to Jansen explaining my concerns and disappointment that I've expressed in this review, but they did not respond to me. I asked them to put me in contact with an experienced technicians to discuss what needs to be done to make this railing safe and sturdy but they have not responded. Jansen recently installed hurricane screens for the back and side of our lanai. Our salesman George was very responsive in getting back to us with answers to our questions up front. The price was competitive with others. The work was completed in the general timeframe promised and the quality of workmanship was excellent. The only improvement I would recommend is how phone calls coming into the the general phone number are handled in the absence of an automated menu. Many times the call would be picked up by a front desk person, and you were never sure who would be getting back to you or when. We felt good enough about the whole experience we will be asking them to provide an estimate for hurricane shutters for our windows. read more

I ordered shutters from them back in the end of May beginning of June and the sales person of course offered the world but couldn't manage to deliver a pebble's worth of that promise! I paid them the 50% deposit upon agreement of the product I was told it would be three weeks until install and I said perfect just let me know and I can make arrangements. Two weeks later I hadn't heard so I called the sales person and he told me that scheduling was not his area and I needed to call the office [what a sales guy right!]. I called the office and the folks at the office told me I would need to get a re-measure of my windows before they would schedule install, I agreed and asked when that would take place, they said two to three weeks for the re-measure. I asked to speak to the manager and I explained the situation and asked if they could make arrangements to the schedule since I had emails from the sales person saying it would be three weeks to install, I was told NO, see you in 2 to 3 weeks [what great customer service]! 2 weeks later they came to re-measure and I asked them at that time when install would be and I was told 3-4 weeks out for that too, see where this is going... They have half my money and I have nothing to show for it 5 weeks later, but wait it gets even better. So they never called and I kept calling and asking for schedule they kept telling me they would call me back with a date but they did not why would they, they have half the money and know I am stuck waiting for them at this point so oh well right. I finally got an install date about 3 weeks later [now we are 6 weeks after I stroked a check and was told it would be 3 weeks to install]. Two weeks later someone showed up and installed my shutters, they did decent work but I take alot of pride in my home so I expect the same quality as if I was doing the work so they apparently don't have the same standards. They also left small sharp pieces of metal scattered throughout my yard as a nice little present for my kids that run around barefoot to slice up there feet with [thank you for that!] Good news is they didn't charge me for them or make me wait another 8 weeks to add them to the grass for me! They also never finished the storage brackets in the garage and I have called them and they even made an appointment to complete the storage rack but they never showed up for the appointment they set. CONCLUSION: Run away as fast as you can if you here the Name JANSEN in anything you are looking to purchase! PS... They mention about being Veteran and Military Friendly, offering discounts to those who have and do serve but I asked about it and guess what they said... You probably don't have to guess and can figure out they did not offer that discount to me when I asked about it. We recently contracted with Jansen to wrap our condo in Venice with white aluminum accordion shutters as a defense against hurricanes. We hope to never have to use them. The company's salesman, office staff and installers were all first class. The guys who actually did the hard work were able to overcome the difficulty of installing the shutters even though access was restricted by bushes surrounding the lanai and other parts of the condo. When we had an issue with the condo association, we made a presentation to the board to obtain official approval. I asked the salesman Russ to accompany me and back me up with technical details of the shutters and project. He did an excellent job and the condo approved the project. The shutters look great and go very nicely with the overall architecture of the condominium. read more

If I could leave no stars I would. Jansen installed clear shutters on our newly built house in 2011. The installation had problems from the get go, bad holes drilled in the wrong spots, unable to remove the screws because they were stuck etc... Fast forward to 2018, we had a scheduled appt for the end of May to have the shutters put up, they didn't bother to show up. In fact they didn't bother to call us or anything. I was leaving two days later to go north. We than rescheduled with an appointment to have them come a week later and my cousin would wait at the house for them. Again a no show no call. Eventually after a couple of back and forths with the various office folk, a visit by a lone worker who stated he didn't have the right tools to install the shutters (really?) another time where the worker stated he needed two men to install them....it finally got done over two weeks after the first appointment. Just one guy btw, took 2 hours to put up shutters over 3 windows and the back sliding doors. The next problem came when we received the bill. Previous years it was $150 to put them up, this year they charged us $300. That's some inflation huh? They are lucky that I had already went up north In short I would never use these clowns again. read more

I called them in April 2018 to have two of our condo shutters (one a roll down the other an accordion) repaired. They didn't give me a service date until June. A day before they were suppose to come out I got a call they needed to reschedule. They have done this to me 4 times now! They rescheduled for August 6 and told me they had a lot of turn over and promised they would be out here. Now I get a call they can't come out on August 6. I am done with this company. read more

Oh and xtra shutters that don't belong to me and xtra tracks.This company was supposed to install and got it all they did is sign off on job and get paid! The builder will not do anything about either. My favorite of this install was the silicone bolts studs to keep them in wall because they were damaged!! I wish I had read these reviews prior to contracting with this company. I have been treated rudely on the phone, multiple times. I have had the installation done but I am unable to get this company to file a notice of commencement with Sarasota County. There cannot be an inspection scheduled with the County until this is done. I have requested to speak with an owner or general manager and was told "they will never call you back". I have had to resort to filing a complaint with Sarasota County. In this day and time of social media you would think there would be prompt, courteous service. If you know of anyone who is considering this company please discourage them. read more

Horrible customer service. Shutters paid for but not installed after more than 1 year. I have filed a BBB complaint in hopes of getting this resolved. My advice to future customers: STAY AWAY Here are the details. Jansen Shutters and Windows (Jansen) installed custom hurricane shutters on my house in Tampa. Two of the Armor Screen shutters on doors to the outside were to have zippers to allow for egress. This involved extra cost. One was as ordered but the second was not. The original installation occurred in January 2019. I made repeated requests for service to fix the problem, but only after six months, when I threatened to file a BBB complaint, was my request acknowledged. A technician came on July 5, 2019. He discovered that there was a more serious problem than a lack of egress. Neither of the shutters for the two rear doors fit the openings. In other words, though we had paid in full for hurricane protection of all openings, two large doors were completely unprotected. On July 9 the same technician returned to pick up the two faulty shutters. I was told that they would see if they could fix the problem in house or would have to order new shutters for the doors. That is the last communication from Jansen. I have called, left voicemail messages, and sent an email message, but Jansen is completely unresponsive. Timeline: May 9, 2018 Proposal accepted June 1, 2018 Notice of commencement and initial payment January 11, 2019 Installation and payment in full January 12-July 3, 2019 Repeated requests for service to correct the lack of egress July 5, 2019 Jansen technician discovers that neither of the shutters for the rear doors fits the opening July 9, 2019 Jansen technician picks up the non-fitting shutters and takes them away July 10 - present No further communication from Jansen, despite several emails and phone calls read more

My husband and I contracted and gave a 50% deposit on October 20, 2017 for hurricane impact shades for our lanai. We were told at that time that the job wouldn't be completed until January 2018.. not a problem as that wasn't hurricane season. In December they came and did a remeasure to be sure everything was accurate. January came and no contact from Jansen! I called and was told it would now be February... same story, no call . I called again, now it's going to be March!!! Long story short they came in April, the largest shade did not fit , so they said they would return when it was corrected. Well again with no contact from the company!!! We finally told them job HAD TO BE DONE by May 8th as we were going on vacation. They came on May 8th, the largest shade now had a hole in it where a seam was not done properly, another area had a white metal track, (all others are bronze), and no caps were put in the openings on the tracks (probably about 200 openings)! We have continued to call on a weekly basis with no resolution to this job. Our largest shade has not been replaced, our white track had not been replaced, nor have they put in the finish caps!!!We also gave them additional money when they came in May!!! We have some of Jansen electric hurricane shutters and had a problem with one of them not working. They sent a great guy out and we were very pleased with the results. In no time, he corrected the problem and even did a favor finding some screws and fixing the wall piece that a hand control wand fits into when power outage happens. read more

I did business with Jansen approximately 12 years ago and was very satisfied, so I went back last year. Huge mistake. I purchased 5 hurricane shutters, specifying manual overrides in case of a power outage. I was misled as to capability of one of the shutters. The particular shutter did not have the manual override called for in the written contract. It also will not close all the way. After the installation I noted this and a crack in the wall where the installation was. I emailed the president and was ignored. I then called the office. The ultimate response from the Jansen Company was that, despite the contract, the shutter was too large and the override would be useless. Had I been made aware of this, I would not have purchased that shutter. Perhaps two smaller ones, or a different one, as I am well satisfied with the others. For whatever it was worth, they did offer to put the useless override on anyway. At least at that time the shutter could have been adjusted. However they never followed through and I have since been ignored. In addition to misleading me in the original purchase, and then ultimately breaching the contract, I have an expensive shutter that does not shut all the way, and has the potential to be of no value in the event of a hurricane. read more

7/27/18-I am updating my review from 7/13/18, Today the buckle and strap portion of our job was installed on the lanai. (we signed our contract 2/6/18 & the check was cashed 2/9/18) This closes off our lanai completely. It is extremely hot in the enclosed section as no air should be able to get through. The screens cannot be removed until the last part of our job is completed due to the inspector coming out to ensure the hurricane protection was properly installed. The issue is that the material necessary to complete the job is still not in. The installers lifted 2 screens halfway up so we have part use of our lanai and we can walk out the back. Otherwise the only exit from the home is the front entrance. Carrie the scheduler is saying 1-2 weeks for the rest of the material, but we have heard that for months. I will update this review when and if this job is completed. We are now in the middle of hurricane season and again our $4000.00 check was cashed 2/9/18. read more

Let's see, where do I begin... 1. they never left us ANY of the wingnuts we needed to install our shutters. 2. for some reason who ever installed our shutters decided to use tracks EVERYWHERE. Our neighbors with identical home and identical windows have normal shutters. (tracks are much more complicated to install and less secure) 3. When I called to discuss this, (on a Monday) they told me someone would call to schedule a time to come out to my house by the end of the week. 4. The following Wednesday, I had yet to receive a call. 5. I called them, the lady on the phone told me that they could not be held responsible for something built in 2013. (I never had to install the shutters until Irma threatened) She also accused me of lying that she did not remember doing an install at our home... when they have stickers all over our shutters. 6. Our new home has hurricane shutters provided by Jansen. I came up 31 wing nuts short when I went to install the shutters for hurricane Irma. When I called Jansen to have them send me the missing wing nuts they told me that the builder must have gone into the bag of nuts and stolen the 31 missing nuts and if I wanted more I would have to buy them. Customer service is nonexistent with Jansen shutters because after the sale you are on your own. After reading some of the other reviews I guess I'm lucky all the panels were there. read more

We bought a new house, a year ago, and we were happy to know that it came with hurricane panels. Now, we have a category 5 hurricane bearing down on us and we go to install them and they did not give us the hardware (nuts), some of the tracks are missing and we are missing 9 panels for a sliding glass door. Our neighbors got pictures of their shutters, installed, but we did not, now we know why, they never were installed on our house. Our diagram is wrong, the instructions are lacking and the holes on the panels don't line up. I called and the Shirley woman, who answered was rude and talked over me and said there is nothing she can do. I trusted this company and now my family is in danger and my house may be damaged. Oh, and all of my neighbors are missing hardware, have the wrong hardware, missing panels or have the wrong panels, they do shoddy quick work for the builder and get paid and move on, without a care about the families they leave behind. I will call them back, after the storm and get this corrected and I will get roll down shutters, but from a different, more reputable company. I have never seen a company so rude and incompetent. Don't be left out in the rain, like I am. You have been warned. read more

We recently purchased a new home and very happy when found that it came with hurricane shutters. However after we moved in we found there was no instructions or hardware for mounting them. After 7 months and numerous calls from both, the sales person and on site superintendent they decided to deliver them as it too expensive to mail. I got 30 wing nuts and a booklet from a man who told the only reason were we getting was because he was "doing me a favor". This was only done after a threat of a law suit if our house was damaged by a hurricane. If I would had my choice I would have never used Jansen! read more
